Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 629: Chapter 628: Aren’t You Afraid of Biting Your Tongue?

「Hospital—」

Only when you’re waiting do you realize how agonizingly slow time can be. Nia Mitchell had been waiting outside for twenty minutes. With her hands clenched tightly, she sat there, as if on pins and needles, unsure of what to do.

”Are you worried about me?”

Suddenly, she heard Edbert’s voice as a large shadow loomed over her.

Nia Mitchell immediately tilted her head up, looking at Edbert who stood before her.

Seeing his pale face, her lips quivered.

”Don’t worry, I’m fine.”

He smiled, reaching out to touch her face.

”I’m fine; it’s just a bite on the shoulder.”

He comforted her again. Nia listened and nodded, but tears still shimmered in her eyes.

”You’re making it sound so trivial! Who asked you to go and block it?”

She pounded his arm angrily. And he was still smiling so casually!

”It’s nothing. I’ve had the antivenom, so the poison is neutralized. How about you treat me to a meal?”

Edbert’s voice was extraordinarily relaxed, and he smiled at Nia.

”You’re the big boss; how can I afford to treat you to a meal?”

Nia pouted.

Hearing this, Edbert raised an eyebrow.

”Nia Mitchell, aren’t you afraid of biting your tongue when you say that?”

Who doesn’t know about the special relationship between Nia Mitchell and Maxwell Peary these days? Moreover, he was well aware that Nia was now Mrs. Peary. The wife of Young Master Peary of Capital Town claiming she has no money, that she can’t even afford to treat someone to a meal? Does that really sound right?

”How would I bite my tongue?”

Nia looked away, not wanting to talk to him anymore.

She’d been scared half to death today; she almost thought she was going to die.

”Alright, let’s go.”

He watched her with a smile, trying to ease her fear.

Nia saw that although his face was pale, there didn’t seem to be anything else wrong with him, so she nodded and left with him.

Nia had just escaped the snake’s fangs, her heart still pounding with lingering fear.

「Meanwhile, at MC Group, things were already in an uproar.」

Young Master Peary went to the Secretary Department, only to learn that Nia had left after receiving a phone call. His expression grew increasingly grim.

Back in his Office Room, the oppressive atmosphere emanating from Maxwell Peary made even Owen Lewis, on the other side of the video call, feel terrified.

”Umm, Boss?”

Owen Lewis swallowed hard, feeling thoroughly intimidated.

HMPH.

Maxwell Peary offered no further words, only that unhappy grunt.

Something’s wrong. Something’s definitely wrong, Owen Lewis pondered for a long time but still couldn’t figure out what had happened. It’s better to be cautious.

He nodded, silently reminding himself to choose his words very carefully.

”Boss, the situation in the Black Market has stabilized. I unilaterally cut off a supplier’s shipment a couple of days ago, which caused a minor hiccup, but it’s not a big problem.”

Saying this, Owen Lewis touched his nose.

Maxwell Peary’s face was dark as he glared at Owen Lewis, frowning in displeasure.

”Are Black Market affairs something you should be managing now?”

He had long since told him to handle the legitimate side of the business, to take over from Alan Morgan. But he only worked for a day or two, and then he ran away.

Damn it!

”Boss, I’d rather stick to my work in the Black Market. You can’t force me, can you?”

Owen Lewis’s face immediately fell into a pitiful expression. It’s no use looking for Alan Morgan now; he’s out of commission and in the hospital.

”Am I forcing you?”

Is this what he calls forcing? Maxwell Peary’s eyes narrowed slightly, a dangerous glint in them as he looked at Owen.

”No, no, no! How could you possibly be forcing me, Young Master Peary? It’s just that I’m still dealing with this tricky business. You can’t just tell me to drop it halfway, can you?”
