Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 628: Chapter 627: A Slap Across the Face

Star Media is indeed Star Media. Even a random secretary is remarkably adept at acting.

Upon hearing Hazel Quartz’s words, Edbert Mitchell furrowed his brows.

After considerable thought, he put down the pen he was holding, stood up, and left.

He turned on all the surveillance cameras, only to find that many of them weren’t working.

These cameras were all located on the routes leading to the wildlife park.

”Go to the zoo immediately!”

Edbert Mitchell frowned and took out his phone to instruct Star Media’s Head of Security. As Hazel Quartz approached, he slapped her across the face!

”AH!”

Hazel Quartz hadn’t anticipated Edbert Mitchell would strike so unceremoniously. Caught off guard by the solid slap, she lost her balance and sprawled to the ground.

Clutching her numb left cheek, she sat on the floor, unable to get up for some time.

”If anything happens to Nia Mitchell, I’ll make you regret ever being born!”

He was like a tyrannical monarch; a single sentence from him could make the entire world tremble.

Tears welled in Hazel Quartz’s eyes as she looked up at Edbert Mitchell.

”Mr. Mitchell, what have I done to deserve this treatment from you?”

She couldn’t believe her predicament. After all, I thought I handled things flawlessly.

”Hazel Quartz, stop playing tricks in front of me. I promoted you only because I thought you and Nia Mitchell had a good relationship. I never imagined you would actually move against her.”

Edbert Mitchell felt he must have been possessed. He clearly knew Hazel Quartz was ambitious, yet because Nia Mitchell trusted her, he had shown her some favor.

”Since you no longer consider Nia Mitchell a friend, I have no obligation to look out for you. Starting tomorrow, you either pack your things and get out, or you crawl back to the Secretary Department and continue being a mere secretary.”

What a brutal decision.

Hazel Quartz remained seated on the floor, stunned, tears of disbelief streaming down her face.

This punishment is too severe.

If I leave Star Media, what kind of job can I find?

Moreover, I have my own aspirations. I want to be Ethan Martinez’s manager.

But if I stay and return to the Secretary Department, I’ll face everyone’s ridicule and the retaliation of many.

As a person, she could accept everyone’s envy and climb high.

But the higher she climbed, the less she could bear to fall and face scorn and ridicule many times greater than any envy she had received.

Nia Mitchell stood there, frightened, swallowing nervously. The enemy isn’t moving, and I’m not moving... I’m too tense! She decided to strike first.

After mustering her courage for a long moment, she swung the stick directly at it.

Little did she know, the snake had been waiting for this exact moment.

The human and the snake lunged almost simultaneously. Nia Mitchell’s swing met only air as the snake darted towards her.

”AH!”

Nia Mitchell screamed in fear. Just then, a sudden force pulled her aside.

Immediately after, she collided with a firm chest.

Time seemed to stand still. A unique masculine scent filled her nostrils. Nia Mitchell opened her eyes to see a black suit before her.

Edbert Mitchell!

She snapped her head up to see Edbert Mitchell frowning deeply. He reached out his other hand, forcefully grabbed the snake by its vital spot, and then shook it violently a few times.

The snake went limp, motionless.

Nia Mitchell’s face was pale, her lips trembling in fear.

Edbert Mitchell’s complexion also grew increasingly pallid, and sweat began to bead on his forehead.

”Mr. Mitchell? Edbert Mitchell?”

Nia Mitchell was terrified. Seeing his lips turn increasingly purple, she recognized the unmistakable signs of poisoning.
