Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 535: Chapter 534: Can You Afford That Much Money?

Maxwell Peary’s wedding would undoubtedly be attended by high-profile individuals. She held no disdain for her classmates. However, these people aren’t genuinely friends with me, are they? Since that’s the case, I don’t need to bring unnecessary trouble to Maxwell during his wedding, she reasoned.

After she finished speaking, she smiled at all the classmates, and they all fell silent immediately.

Did Nia Mitchell’s words imply that we’ll no longer be friends after this meal? How could she be so audacious? *She* was the one who offered to treat everyone in the first place!

”Nia, you don’t consider us friends?” one of the classmates suddenly asked, breaking the silence.

Nia Mitchell brushed her drooping hair strands. Her face was full of smiles, just as harmless as always. Yet, she seemed different today, although it was hard to pinpoint exactly how. The impression she gave was entirely different.

”Of course, we are friends. But as for the wedding, we don’t even know when or where it will take place. If it’s held back in my hometown, wouldn’t it be a waste of money for everyone to spend on transportation and accommodation fees to attend?”

Every word Nia spoke seemed to show consideration for them, but how could those present possibly be pleased?

If it’s her wedding, she could just inform us, and we could choose not to attend; there are always plenty of reasons. That way, not only could we save some money, but we could also avoid giving cash gifts for the wedding. If she treats this gathering as her wedding feast, wouldn’t we have to give cash gifts? What’s the difference between that and splitting the bill?

Everyone couldn’t help but ridicule her in their hearts. This Nia Mitchell is really so scheming! She’s subtly asking for money!

Good heavens, I genuinely hadn’t thought of it that way, Nia mused. I just felt that since I was treating, surely I didn’t need to make everyone feel like it was just a regular get-together or that they had to split the bill? I only mentioned it casually, yet everyone has taken it so far. It seems that these days, people’s minds are quite calculating.

”Why would we care about those transportation expenses or anything like that? We all want to see your wedding, Nia. How could we possibly not attend?” Julia Adams, understanding everyone’s thoughts, suddenly spoke up.

”And our class president, you’ll be going too, right?” she asked, suddenly pulling Ralph Perez into the conversation, not letting him be the nice guy.

Ralph Perez nodded. I’ll definitely attend Nia Mitchell’s wedding, he thought. Of course, the precondition is that she has to invite me. But how did a simple gathering evolve into Nia Mitchell footing the entire bill? Previously, I thought that when Nia Mitchell came, she would at most be teased a bit by Julia Adams, and there wouldn’t be any real harm done. I felt I could still support her a little, but I hadn’t expected... I simply couldn’t stop Julia Adams.

”Alright, let’s discuss future matters in the future. Today is just about everyone getting together before graduation,” Nia Mitchell said, not wishing to elaborate. Picking up her bag, she prepared to go pay the bill.

Maxwell had mentioned before that this black card had no spending limit.

Seeing her go to pay the bill alone, everyone suddenly felt a bit guilty.

”Did we go too far? Dining at Royal Dynasty isn’t cheap, you know?”

Even if Nia Mitchell is marrying a man from a well-off family, this meal will probably cost a fortune. And what if Nia spending so much money causes family disputes for her? If that happens, won’t we, her classmates of four years, be the culprits?

”Let’s still split the bill,” one of the classmates suggested.

”Are you crazy? They added so many more dishes and expensive wines later on; if we split the bill, can you even afford your share?” another retorted.
