Invincible Little School Doctor

Chapter 110: Chapter 110: It’s Hard to Guard Against a Thief Within the Family

Thinking of this, Ye Haochuan quickly asked Old Han who else knew the password.

”Aside from our own family, no one else knows,” Old Han said after a moment’s thought.

Own family?

Ye Haochuan’s gaze sharpened, and he quickly asked who was not in the village that night.

Having just woken up, Old Han wasn’t clear on the situation. However, Han Xue’er answered, ”Right now, only Second Uncle is not here, but according to Second Aunt, he stayed at the town’s police station waiting for news.”

Waiting for news? Waiting for his sister’s news?

Now that mobile phones are so prevalent, couldn’t he just make a phone call to get the news? Why would he need to stay at the police station?

Ye Haochuan faintly felt that things were not so simple and asked Old Han whether he had told Han Xue’er’s Second Uncle about having a million in savings?

Sure enough, Old Han admitted there was such a matter, saying, ”At that time, I had just arrived in town and went straight to Second Brother’s house after getting off the car because Dazhuang’s girlfriend was introduced by Second Daughter-in-law. To give Second Daughter-in-law some confidence in speaking about the marriage, I mentioned the one million, with nothing hidden... What’s the matter? Is there a problem?”

Is there a problem? This is a huge problem!

Ye Haochuan gave a wry smile, changed the subject, and asked about the robber’s features, such as height, build, and whether there were any marks left on the robber during their struggle, etc.

Reminded by this, Old Han immediately said, ”I remember now, I grabbed at his neck when I saw he was masked; there should be nail scratch marks on his neck.”

Ye Haochuan’s heart stirred, could it be that Han Xue’er’s Second Uncle was the masked robber, fearing exposure and deliberately finding an excuse not to show up?

As he was pondering this, footsteps sounded outside the house, it was Elder Han and others returning after seeing off Tang Zhen.

Seeing Ma Jinlian staring at him with a guarded face, Ye Haochuan grew even more suspicious of Han Xue’er’s Second Uncle. However, without evidence at the moment, he could only suppress his doubts.

As soon as Elder Han and the others were seated, Ye Haochuan’s heart stirred, and he gravely announced that the money in the bank card had been stolen by the robbers, amounting to forty thousand.

Elder Han and everyone else were outraged.

Ye Haochuan secretly noted Ma Jinlian’s expression and found that although she cursed the robber vehemently, she did not seem as agitated as Elder Han and the others, which made him even more certain there was a problem.

Testing the waters, he said, ”Everyone need not worry, the money was withdrawn from an ATM. Generally speaking, there are surveillance cameras on ATMs, making it easy to see the robber’s true face. We’ve already reported to the police, and tomorrow we will request the bank’s surveillance footage through them.”

Everyone agreed vehemently.

Ye Haochuan secretly noticed that Ma Jinlian’s expression turned significantly uglier, and her speech was not as lively as before, which intensified his suspicions.

Since it was very late, after some idle chatter, Old Han started telling Yue Qiaoyun, his eldest daughter-in-law, to boil water so that Ye Haochuan could wash his face and feet.

As for Han Xue’er, Old Han asked her to tidy up her boudoir for Ye Haochuan to stay the night.

Ever since meeting Han Xue’er, Ye Haochuan hadn’t had the chance to speak with her properly. Seizing the moment when no one was paying attention, he slipped into her boudoir.

The place was indeed a girl’s fragrance-filled haven. Although the room’s furnishings were simple, everything was clean and tidy, and the air was suffused with a faint scent, just like Han Xue’er’s refreshing natural fragrance.

Ye Haochuan inwardly exclaimed how nice it smelled. As he moved closer to Han Xue’er, he noticed her cute little face suddenly flushed with a touch of red. Her eyelashes fluttered rapidly—evidently, his proximity had made her suddenly shy.

”Ahem...”

Ye Haochuan pretended to cough and said, ”I just heard the old master say that someone has been thinking about me day and night these past few days. I wonder if it’s true or false?”

”Ah!”

Upon hearing this, Han Xue’er reacted like a startled rabbit, covering her cheeks and turning her body away, presenting an irresistibly charming and bashful appearance.

Ye Haochuan laughed and said, ”Viewed from the side it becomes a peak, from afar each has its own height, a fine poem, indeed!”

Han Xue’er, not understanding why he suddenly recited a poem and unaware he was evaluating her, felt her shyness fade slightly. She glanced at him and said with a laugh, biting her lip, ”Brother Ye, are you showing off your talent? Reciting poems so late at night?”

Ye Haochuan chuckled, ”Of course, isn’t that what guys do to impress the girls they fancy?”

Han Xue’er burst out laughing, ”Brother Ye, you’re so funny. You could easily rely on your looks, so why bother with talent?”

Suddenly realizing there was something inappropriate in her words, her already flushed cheeks turned utterly red, and even her ears were not spared.

Ye Haochuan truly wanted to laugh out loud. Little Xue’er was just too adorable. He blinked and teased, ”So Xue’er, you mean to say that if I pursue you, Brother doesn’t need to display any talent, just rely on his looks, right?”

”Brother Ye—” Han Xue’er couldn’t bear his teasing anymore, stamped her foot gently, and fled the room.

Ye Haochuan chuckled. Flee? Brother wants to see how you can escape from the palm of my hand.

Suddenly, a very faint sound of footsteps came from the window, as if someone was tiptoeing away with small, stealthy steps.

Ye Haochuan, with his not insubstantial cultivation, could not fail to hear it.

Activating his Perspective Eyes and looking over, he saw a familiar figure, dressed flamboyantly, hurrying away from the window behind the adobe wall.

It was Han Xue’er’s stepmother, Ma Jinlian.

A thought struck Ye Haochuan’s mind, and he continued to watch as she entered the main house and then a room next to another room of his. She closed the door, took out her mobile phone, and started texting rapidly as if chatting with someone via WeChat.

Because Ma Jinlian’s phone screen was directly facing Ye Haochuan, he read the chat log completely.

Ye Haochuan shook his head. Damn it, even with all the precautions, it’s the betrayal from within that’s hardest to guard against!

It turned out that Ma Jinlian was chatting on WeChat with none other than her own husband, Old Han’s second son, Han Hai.

The content of their chat was precisely about Old Han’s bank card matter.

With this, Ye Haochuan could fully confirm that the robber was indeed Old Han’s second son, Han Hai.

Fearing that Ma Jinlian might delete the chat log and destroy the evidence afterward, Ye Haochuan quietly left the room and found Old Han, who was the only one washing his feet in the main house. He shared his discovery with him.

However, he didn’t mention his use of the Perspective Eyes but only what he had heard.

As soon as Old Han heard it, anger appeared on his withered, bark-like face, ”Junior Brother Ye, are you telling the truth?”

Ye Haochuan nodded and whispered, ”Elder, if you don’t believe me, let’s barge in right now.”

”Unfilial son, absolutely unfilial!” Old Han, furious, began to huff and puff, and bit his teeth, ”Let’s barge in.”

The two, the old and the young, immediately went to the door of the room where Ma Jinlian was staying.

Old Han, still strong despite his age, kicked the door open with one foot, and it swung open with a clatter.

Ma Jinlian, who was holding her phone and chatting, jumped at the sound. Upon recognizing the people who had entered, she breathed a sigh of relief but then complained, ”Dad, everyone is asleep, what are you barging in for?”

Old Han’s face was an iron blue as he demanded, ”Hand over the phone!”
