Invincible Little School Doctor

Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Report Loss

Han Xue’er let out a soft cry, completely unexpected that her grandfather would announce the matter in public. Flushed with embarrassment, she stomped her foot and exclaimed, ”Grandpa, what nonsense are you spouting? I’m not talking to you anymore.”

She then covered her face and dashed away as if escaping.

Everyone couldn’t help but smile.

Elder Han stroked his beard and laughed, ”This little girl has been daydreaming about it these past few days. When she sees him, she becomes shy.”

Ye Haochuan felt a stir in his heart, thinking, could it be that Han Xue’er, this little girl, has truly been dreaming about me these past few days?

It made sense, though. During his time working at the school hospital, he had gotten quite close to her, even though she always called him a pervert. Their relationship wasn’t bad, and his unintended help at Chenghuang Temple must have deepened his impression in her heart.

Speaking of which, fate is really mysterious.

When helping Elder Han back then, who knew he was Han Xue’er’s grandfather?

He could imagine that when Elder Han later found his granddaughter and talked about himself and even provided his phone number, it must have surprised Han Xue’er.

That also explained why she was hesitant and confusing on the phone when she later called him.

On the other hand, Tang Zhen was experiencing mixed emotions, feeling inexplicably jealous of Ye Haochuan’s good fortune.

Though Han Xue’er was a farmer’s daughter, she was pretty, lovely, and had a charming innocence and a well-developed figure. If he hadn’t been fixated on Kou Jing, he would have pursued her himself.

However, jealousy aside, he saw this as an opportunity.

Just think, if Ye Haochuan got together with Han Xue’er, would Kou Jing still harbor feelings for Ye Haochuan?

Although there was no romantic spark between Kou Jing and Ye Haochuan yet, hearing her mention him all the time was hardly comforting for Tang Zhen.

With this in mind, Tang Zhen said, ”Brother Haochuan, you have stumbled upon a great match. You must seize it! Make sure you stay here tonight.”

His words won the hearts of Elder Han’s family, who all began to urge him on.

Seeing the expression on Ma Jinlian’s face was as unpleasant as if she had swallowed a fly, Ye Haochuan couldn’t help feeling pleased. Thinking of Han Xue’er’s charming face, gentle nature, and attractive figure, he pretended to be reluctant and agreed to stay.

Afterward, Elder Han had his son and daughter-in-law send Tang Zhen away while he and his granddaughter Han Xue’er stayed behind to chat with Ye Haochuan.

The old and the young hit it off quite well.

Elder Han particularly, in his conversation, constantly hinted at his intention to match Han Xue’er with him.

Ye Haochuan played it cool, appearing to be in a difficult position, but internally he was extremely pleased.

Han Xue’er was somewhat reserved, her face constantly flushed, too shy to speak. Yet her large, round eyes kept observing Ye Haochuan’s every word and action, her face filled with admiration and affection.

”Elder, I just heard that your bank card with a million yuan was stolen?” Ye Haochuan suddenly said.

Elder Han sighed deeply and nodded.

Ye Haochuan was shocked and hurriedly asked what happened?

Elder Han then narrated the entire incident.

After parting with Ye Haochuan, Elder Han went to Haishan University to find his granddaughter Han Xue.

Upon meeting, he told her about his encounter with Ye Haochuan and asked about him.

Without a doubt, Han Xue’s mouth dropped open when she heard about Ye Haochuan.

But seeing that the phone number her grandfather provided matched exactly the one for Ye Haochen, she finally believed it.

That led to Elder Han urging Han Xue to call Ye Haochuan and arrange a meeting.

However, at that time, Ye Haochuan was at the seafood city with Xiao Haimei, so the meeting was delayed.

Elder Han had to stay overnight in Haishan because of Han Dazhuang’s unresolved wedding issues, and boarded a bus back to the village the following morning.

Just as he was nearing the village, Elder Han suddenly encountered masked robbers who not only stole the few hundred dollars on him but also the bank card with a million in deposits and injured him in the process.

Fortunately, Elder Han’s eldest son, Old Master Han, and his family arrived upon hearing the news. Although they didn’t catch the robbers, they managed to rescue Elder Han in time.

Lying in the hospital bed, Elder Han told Old Master Han’s family about the million dollars in the bank account.

Old Master Han’s family were both happy and worried, and immediately used a cellphone to call the police.

But it was at this moment that Elder Han’s injuries became too severe, and he passed out.

After that, Elder Han knew nothing about what happened.

Upon hearing everything, Ye Haochuan grew suspicious — the arrival of the robber was too coincidental, wasn’t it?

”Old man, don’t worry, the one million can’t be easily taken by the robber. According to bank regulations, withdrawing such a large amount requires a prior appointment,” Ye Haochuan reassured him.

Upon hearing this, Elder Han’s spirit was lifted, and he asked, ”Really?”

”Of course,” Ye Haochuan smiled. ”Moreover, even if the robber really tries to take out that much money, the bank needs to verify the identity of the cardholder. Even if the robber goes to the bank, they won’t be able to withdraw the money because it’s not you.”

Han Xue followed up, ”Yes, Grandpa, Brother Ye is absolutely right; don’t worry.”

Elder Han finally breathed a sigh of relief, then suddenly stroked his beard and laughed, ”You, Xue Girl, we haven’t even confirmed your relationship yet, and you’re already siding outwards.”

Han Xue, utterly embarrassed, blurted with a red face, ”Grandpa——”

Elder Han laughed heartily.

Ye Haochuan looked at Han Xue, exchanged a knowing smile, and as their eyes met, his heart pounded like a deer running wild, his eyelids quickly fluttered down, and his face turned crimson, his shy demeanor charmingly stirring.

The atmosphere in the room became a bit awkward. Ye Haochuan changed the subject and asked Elder Han, ”By the way, old man, did the robber ask for your PIN when he stole your bank card?”

”No,” Elder Han shook his head.

Just then, a cell phone rang from inside the house. Elder Han asked Han Xue to check it, but in no time, Han Xue came running back, holding Elder Han’s senior cell phone, saying, ”This is bad, this is bad, I just received a text from the bank saying that twenty thousand from grandpa’s account was just withdrawn.”

”What?” Elder Han, who had just relaxed, suddenly panicked.

Ye Haochuan frowned. Without the PIN, to withdraw twenty thousand so quickly seemed too skilled for robbers.

”Old man, don’t worry. At this hour, the banks are all closed. The robber would have to go to the ATMs at various bank branches, and there are cameras in front of all ATMs. Maybe the robber left some traces. The police can trace the clues and catch the person,” Haochuan said.

After a pause, Ye Haochuan added gravely, ”The most urgent task now is to report the loss immediately to minimize the damage.”

”How do I report it?” Elder Han seemed utterly confused.

”It’s simple, just call the customer service number to verbally report the loss,” Haochuan advised.

Han Xue chimed in, ”I know how to do that; I’ll call the bank right now.”

However, they were a step late. By the time Han Xue successfully reported the loss, another twenty thousand had been withdrawn from Elder Han’s bank account.

Luckily, Ye Haochuan consoled him, saying that the ATM could only dispense a maximum of twenty thousand a day, otherwise Elder Han would have almost gone mad with rage.

Suddenly, Elder Han remembered something and asked, ”Hey, that isn’t right, Junior Brother Ye, didn’t you just say that only twenty thousand could be taken out in one day? How did the robber take out forty thousand all at once?”

”That’s how it happened. The robber used midnight as the changeover time to withdraw funds — before and after midnight count as two separate days,” Ye Haochuan explained.

Elder Han then realized.

At that moment, Ye Haochuan thought back to an old issue—since the robber didn’t ask for the PIN when he stole the bank card, yet now managed to withdraw forty thousand so smoothly, had the robber cracked the PIN?

But could the PIN be cracked so easily?

If the wrong PIN is entered five times in front of an ATM, the card would automatically lock, and not a dime could be withdrawn!

Suddenly, an idea struck Ye Haochuan. Could it be that the robber had known the PIN all along?
