Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era

Chapter 50: Chapter 50: Formidable Enemy

Level 9 Elite!

Chu Xiu looked at the panel with a somewhat grave expression.

No wonder it’s an elite monster. Compared to ordinary 008 Type Corpse Ghosts, not only has its Constitution greatly improved, but it also has additional Skills, Traits, and Talents!

The newly added Skills and Traits are shown as question marks, and Chu Xiu cannot determine exactly what they are, but they must be Advanced Skills.

And the new Talent is downright abnormal, directly boosting the Energy Level by 35.0! It can even use this Energy to regain Life Force!

Chu Xiu guessed that the huge cyst on the creature’s back was the manifestation of this Talent.

This makes the already high Defense and Life Force 008 Type Corpse Ghosts even more resilient!

Not to mention, under the Blood Moon’s blessing, it has a Constitution as high as 36.6!

”What a terrifying creature,” Chu Xiu thought to himself, deeply shocked.

He currently has two strategies: one is to wait until these Corpse Ghosts are mutually wounded and then appear to reap the benefits, the other is to immediately join the battle.

The former is naturally more prudent, but it can only reap the experience and loot of one monster.

And the downside is, if that elite Corpse Ghost loses, then he would be at a big loss, essentially letting a Level 9 elite monster slip through his fingers for nothing.

But joining the battle immediately might cause the four Corpse Ghosts, originally fighting each other, to unite in attacking Chu Xiu together!

”Three Level 8 Corpse Ghosts, plus one Level 9 Elite!”

Even though all three are injured now, they still pose a high risk to Chu Xiu!

Don’t be fooled by how he smoothly dealt with a single 008 Type Corpse Ghost before; it was only by using his exceptional Speed to avoid being hit, not because of matching Power.

Adding even one more would eliminate Chu Xiu’s agility advantage, so even if he has leveled up, he might not be able to handle these three Corpse Ghosts without injury.

Let alone an actual Level 9 Elite!

With a Constitution of 36.6, even Chu Xiu’s Yin Ghosts would probably die from one hit! Even with his +7 Energy Absorption Heavy Armor for protection, being hit would be quite unpleasant!

”So which one should I pick?”

As Chu Xiu was hesitating, the elite monster suddenly let out a sharp roar. It raised its right arm like a swinging hammer, and under Chu Xiu’s shocked gaze, the exoskeleton insect armor on the huge hammer scattered like petals, while a sharp Bone Spike shot out at a terrifying speed!

This Bone Spike glistened with a sharp metallic sheen, with a retractable bone structure attached to its tail, somewhat similar to Chu Xiu’s Retractable Tail Spike Equipment, except its tip was longer, thicker, and sharper, with a much sturdier exoskeleton!

The first Heavy Armor Corpse Ghost, caught off guard, was pierced through its head by the Bone Spike. The elite Corpse Ghost swung its right arm, retracting the Bone Spike like a whip, smashing it onto the second Heavy Armor Corpse Ghost!

”Bang!”

The tremendous force made it stagger, and the elite Corpse Ghost opened its huge mouth, biting its neck!

Under its terrifying bite force, the neck bone broke instantly, spraying blood everywhere, and the Corpse Ghost’s head was torn off completely!

The third Corpse Ghost also couldn’t escape its fate, left alone to be slaughtered with no room for resistance!

In the blink of an eye, three Level 8 Corpse Ghosts were crushed!

”Looks like I don’t have to worry about making a decision now.”

Chu Xiu chuckled lightly, but just as he was about to go forward to claim his prize, another unexpected change occurred!

The elite Corpse Ghost glanced at Chu Xiu, with a hint of disdain in its eyes, seemingly not taking him seriously at all. It then roared, and numerous blood-red lines appeared on the surrounding Heavy Armor Corpse Ghosts, surging into its body!

Nourished by the red lines, the elite Corpse Ghost’s cells began to divide rapidly, the flesh under the skin expanding swiftly. It shed layers of skin like a snake, to adapt to the rapidly growing muscles!

With each molt, its body enlarged further!

Simultaneously, in Chu Xiu’s Blood Moon Sense, he could clearly perceive that the aura of this Corpse Ghost was rapidly intensifying!!!

Chu Xiu widened his eyes in shock: ”Could it be... this monster is going to level up?!”

The Blood Moon Ceremony has a very unique rule. These abyssal creatures can also gain experience and level up, just like the Awakened, through mutual slaughter during the ceremony!

This elite Corpse Ghost was already Level 9 Mortal Tier before; leveling up once more means... Warrior Tier!

Chu Xiu felt a rush of heat within him. He could feel the adrenaline surging in his body, as every cell of his became excited.

A Warrior Tier Elite!

More accurately, an injured, not in peak condition, freshly leveled, unfamiliar with its new power, with double experience bonus Warrior Tier Elite!

The safest strategy now would be to attack and kill this monster during its evolution process!

But Chu Xiu saw another possibility.

That is to wait until this monster completes its upgrade, then kill it!

This is an elite of Warrior Tier!

The experience it offers likely rivals that of hundreds of ordinary Corpse Ghosts! Under the high drop rate of the Awakening Trial, there’s a high chance of dropping High Tier items!

Moreover, Chu Xiu can complete his second challenge task, further enhancing the overall rating of the Awakening Trial!

Overall, the benefits of the latter would be several times that of the former!

But of course, the risk is equally great!

So, should he choose to play it safe or take the risk?

Chu Xiu realized he was once again facing an extremely important decision.

”Excessive caution is cowardice; reckless risk-taking is foolish! What I need to do is calculate! To assess risk and reward!”

Chu Xiu licked his dry lips, his brain working rapidly, processing countless pieces of information in a fraction of a second!

”Someone online shared some data, a Level 9 Mortal Tier Warrior (C), has a Constitution of 18.1, and after breaking through to Warrior Tier, it increases to 25.7!”

”With the Class Bonus, new Skills, Traits! The overall strength change should be about two to three times!”

”I have five similar reference data, with similar enhancement rates! By calculating the death rates and difficulty evaluations of Mortal Tier and Warrior Tier dungeons, I can closely determine that the monster’s upgrade boost wouldn’t deviate much!”

”Moreover, while advancing would heal injuries, that’s merely a side effect of the Life Tier upgrade. In essence, it doesn’t provide a healing effect! Even considering the Blood Moon Ceremony’s peculiarity, this value wouldn’t be too high!”

With narrowed eyes, under the effect of his Nether Demon Eyes, every change in that elite Corpse Dog was clearly recorded in Chu Xiu’s mind. Despite the layers of shedding, the scratches on the skin were gone, but the wounds penetrating deep into the flesh still existed! Though many were covered by new muscle, the wounds had not disappeared!

The bone injuries required no mention, and though the energy-storing cyst on its back had enlarged a bit, it was still shriveled, showing no sign of replenishment.

All these observations indicated that the elite Corpse Ghost’s expenditure remained significant!

In such a scenario...

Chu Xiu quickly assessed all his means, a mixture of violent and excited light flickering in his eyes.

”I can kill it!”

The moment he made up his mind, Chu Xiu felt no hesitation. He waved his Bone Banner, and five Yin Ghosts charged out quickly, occupying five corners of the basement while setting up the Bone Bloodthirst Array at his feet!

Then, he took out the Poison he obtained after killing Li Shan and coated it on his Bone Spear and Retractable Tail Spike.

This wasn’t the end!

”Cause and Effect Points, upgrade Mist Step!”

In an instant, the more than 800 Cause and Effect Points Chu Xiu had painstakingly accumulated began to deplete at a rapid pace!

At the same time, countless experiences, insights, and understandings flooded into his mind, countless muscle memories appeared out of nowhere, as if Chu Xiu had practiced this Secret Technique hundreds or thousands of times in another space!

[Consumed Cause and Effect Points: 714, Mist Step Skill Level increased to Great Success!]
