Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era

Chapter 13: Chapter 13: The Marvelous Uses of Cause and Effect Points

Something exploded!

Chu Xiu’s eyes lit up, suddenly feeling that the bitter battle just now was worth it.

Although the drop rate in the trial dungeon is much higher, exploding something on the first monster kill is definitely a stroke of luck.

He couldn’t wait to check it out.

[Type 004 Corpse Demon Necklace]

[Tier: Mortal]

[Quality: Standard]

[Attributes: Magic Power (0.3), Weight 0.1kg]

[Ability: Upon wearing, 10% of the spirit is converted to power and life force, up to 1.0. If the conversion time exceeds 15 minutes within 24 hours, it becomes irreversible and you gain the trait: Corpse Demonization (E)]

[Corpse Demonization (E): Acquire the power of a primary corpse demon, Constitution +3.0, Spirit -3.0, Life Recovery Speed +300%, appearance changes to a certain degree.]

[Evaluation: In the early days of the apocalypse, people believed that corpse demon’s teeth contained some form of venom, capable of turning living beings into corpse eaters.

[But this is actually a misunderstanding, the root of corpse demonization lies in an ancient curse, a polluted secret treasure.

[This necklace is made from eighteen canine teeth of Type 004 corpse demons, it harbors cursed energy, allowing one to possess the power of corpse demons without suffering bites, while retaining a degree of sanity.

[Are you tempted?]

Tempted, my ass!

Chu Xiu was at a loss for words.

Who the hell would want to turn into that thing!

Though, as long as the conversion time stays within fifteen minutes, it’s quite an excellent piece of equipment.

His mental attribute is clearly above the average person, yet lacks a good way to convert it into combat power. This necklace just fills that gap.

Although it only converts ten percent, it’s better than nothing.

Chu Xiu was quite satisfied with it.

Besides, he gained something else.

Cause and Effect Points!

That’s the real deal!

”Hey, Brother Chu, did you happen to explode some Cause and Effect Points?”

Just then, a somewhat stammering voice sounded beside Chu Xiu.

Wang Long awkwardly stood up, uneasily rubbing his hands together, ”I-I just saw that blue crystal, those are Cause and Effect Points, right?”

”Yes,” Li Shan also emerged from the corner, ”Chu, Chu Xiu, will you divide them as agreed before?”

Chu Xiu said nothing, and the atmosphere inside the room turned cold.

It was Yun Lu who widened her eyes in disbelief, ”You guys have the nerve to ask?”

Wang Long’s neck turned red at her words, annoyed and ashamed, ”This, this was agreed upon! At worst, I’ll ask for a bit less!”

”Exactly,” Li Shan echoed, ”What’s there to be embarrassed about? I completed my task!”

”You guys...” Yun Lu wanted to say more, but was stopped by Chu Xiu.

He merely looked at the two in front of him, revealing a faint smile.

He understood why they were so anxious.

The drop rate for Cause and Effect Points is very low, usually only elite monsters or bosses have a chance to drop them, the vast majority earn them through completing tasks.

Chu Xiu glanced at the task rewards for this time.

If a trial task is passed, the basic reward is 100 Cause and Effect Points + a basic piece of equipment, with additional increases based on performance rating.

The three challenge tasks reward 150, 700 and 2500 Cause and Effect Points respectively, the world task rewards a whopping 50000 Cause and Effect Points! Plus unknown item rewards!

Though these tasks are challenging for one person to complete, most rewards are shared among many, especially the world task, often involving hundreds of participants, with a completion rate within thirty days being extremely low, mostly accomplished by Inner Ring City trials.

Thus, the value of Cause and Effect Points is evident.

Of course, the drop rate of trial dungeons is quite high, even small monsters have a chance to drop loot, which is why so many choose to adventure.

But as for what use Cause and Effect Points actually have as hard currency in the abyss?

In strict terms, Cause and Effect Points possess the power of [causing effects], enabling one to shorten the process upon determining a relationship of cause and effect.

This sounds convoluted, but there’s a simple and understandable explanation.

This thing is a deep blue upgrade point.

Its applicable range is extremely broad, profession training, equipment crafting, knowledge learning, even spiritual object growth, can be directly completed through Cause and Effect Points.

For such a good thing... Would he be crazy to give it away?

Integrity? Agreement?

Sorry, demon cultivators don’t have those.

Chu Xiu quickly became accustomed to his new identity.

If this corpse demon hadn’t exploded something good, he might have pretended to share a bit to maintain the fragile union among the four.

But now...

”Only power is everything.”

Chu Xiu thought in his heart, completely ignoring Wang Long and Li Shan, using his will to move the Cause and Effect Points to his professional level.

Add points!

The moment he consumed the Cause and Effect Points, Chu Xiu immediately felt a wondrous sensation, as if he saw his own phantom, sitting cross-legged in a chaotic space, tirelessly cultivating the ”Infinite Reincarnation Technique”.

This phantom flickered and disappeared, and then Chu Xiu felt as if he gained some insights in his mind, his body undergoing some inexplicable change, accompanied by a prompt.

[Consumed 1 Cause and Effect Point, gained 5 Professional Experience]

The experience gained was little because the greater the bloodshed, the faster the cultivation, and Chu Xiu still hadn’t killed enough creatures.

Speaking of bloodshed, Chu Xiu’s expression shifted slightly when he realized the feeling of something inexplicable clinging to him as he killed this corpse demon, a feeling he noticed when killing the giant moth, but stronger this time.

”That thing... is it bloodshed?”

However, contrary to the Infinite Reincarnation Technique’s records of gradually eroding cultivator’s sanity, luring them into endless killing, Chu Xiu found his mind somewhat clearer when that bloodshed attached to him.

”Strange, could it be because what I killed are abyss creatures, making the bloodshed different from traditional ones?”

He silently wondered.

But due to the small sample size, he couldn’t draw any useful conclusions, so Chu Xiu did not dwell on it but without hesitation spent an additional fourteen Cause and Effect Points on his professional level!

[Consumed 14 Cause and Effect Points, gained 70 Professional Experience]

[Level Up!]

[Current Tier: Mortal Tier Level 2]

Leveled up!

With the level up, Chu Xiu felt a surge of powerful energy entering his body, he lightly clenched his fist, revealing a blissful expression.

Limitless improvement, surpassing everyone’s power, isn’t that the ultimate pursuit of demon cultivators?

Chu Xiu opened the panel, and immediately a new persona data appeared before him.

[New Legacy Unlocked]

Constitution increased by about 1 point, Spirit by less than 1 point, and Energy Level increased by over 3 points, compared to the last time, the total improvement was slightly greater, yet not obvious.

Still, it made Chu Xiu feel his body had undergone a dramatic transformation!

Now, his physique has slightly transcended the human limit!

Although his power might still be inferior to those 200kg weightlifters, can’t beat Bolt in the 100 meters, yet in terms of comprehensive physical quality, he surpasses the most elite athletes!

If quantified, Chu Xiu feels now he could break ten seconds in the 100 meters while bench pressing two hundred fifty kilograms, and complete a marathon in under two hours and ten minutes!

”Should I encounter a corpse demon again, even in direct combat, I fear nothing!”

Feeling the immense power residing in his muscles, Chu Xiu revealed a calm expression.

”Chu Xiu you... haven’t already used the Cause and Effect Points, have you?”

Yet, as Chu Xiu silently added points, perhaps sensing his body’s changes, or due to his prolonged silence, Li Shan couldn’t help but ask again.

Wang Long also said, ”Chu Xiu, we agreed on the profits earlier, are you planning to go back on your word?”

The two fixated their gaze on Chu Xiu, somehow leaning against each other, while Yun Lu hesitated to stand nearby.

The three seemed to have quietly formed an alliance.
