Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era

Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Error

This thought made Chu Xiu’s brow furrow slightly.

This was not a good omen.

Chu Xiu didn’t believe in coincidences. He had a vague premonition that on the last day, something unexpected might happen.

”Forget it, no matter what happens then, I just need to do one thing, and that’s to give it my all to improve my strength.”

No longer thinking much, Chu Xiu slid all the way down to the room he had prepared earlier.

Just like yesterday, he cautiously ventured outside, and after hunting down a Black-haired Corpse Ghost and causing enough of a commotion, he immediately returned, relying on favorable terrain to fight.

However, perhaps because he had killed a large wave of Corpse Ghosts yesterday, this time the number of Corpse Ghosts attracted was much less.

After the battle, he only managed to kill eleven Black-haired Corpse Ghosts, gaining 134 experience and 25 Cause and Effect Points, only half of yesterday’s gains.

”After all, this is the real world. There are no monster dens with unlimited respawns. These Corpse Ghosts are fewer with each kill,” Chu Xiu sighed.

Fortunately, the materials needed to upgrade the Bone Spear were much less than the Bone Armor, and these eleven Black-haired Corpse Ghosts successfully stacked it to +6 reinforcement, further enhancing its sharpness.

Moreover, the cultivation progress of the Bloodthirsty Heart Refining Technique finally slowly climbed to nearly one-third.

However, the pace of cultivation became increasingly slow, clearly due to the lack of Essence of Life. To break through, he would probably have to kill either High Tier Corpse Demons or Awakened individuals.

”So, what should we do next?” Chu Xiu pondered.

If he advanced to the lower floors of the apartment building, there would surely still be a large number of Corpse Ghosts. Apart from anything else, just looking out of the window, there were at least twenty or thirty Corpse Ghosts visible near the apartment building.

But the problem was, his life-saving device made of climbing rope was only long enough to extend to the 21st floor.

Further down, there would be no guarantees.

”If I encounter an Elite like last time, it would be troublesome.”

Although Chu Xiu currently had these two Yin Ghosts for protection and +7 Energy Absorption Heavy Armor, facing Elite monsters, there were still countless variables.

”The most important thing is that there’s probably more than one Elite.”

Yesterday, he had already attracted one Elite on the 21st floor, and excluding the possibility of having particularly bad luck, a reasonable explanation was that the density of Elite monsters at night wasn’t low!

”Better to play it safe.”

Chu Xiu didn’t go down personally; he only remotely commanded Yin Ghosts to hunt isolated Corpse Ghosts.

As a developmental-type [MAX] level profession, there was no need to be so aggressive.

Finally, after killing five Corpse Ghosts, two Yin Ghosts suffered varying degrees of injuries and condition decreases, so Chu Xiu ceased the hunt, returned upstairs, took out several pieces of wild boar meat to eat, and began resting to recover his physical strength.

The next day, he continued hunting as usual.

The gains were not much; he killed nine ordinary Corpse Ghosts in the morning.

One could only say that the judgment of the people at the stronghold was not entirely baseless; without Yun Lu, it was difficult for him to accurately locate the positions of Corpse Ghosts, and as the density of Corpse Ghosts in the surrounding area continued to decrease, his hunting efficiency would also significantly drop.

Realizing this, Chu Xiu decided to expand the scope of exploration.

In the nearby three districts of the apartment building, apart from the parking lot, he had almost combed through them, so he could only continue exploring outward.

He didn’t find too many Corpse Ghosts, but discovered traces of two groups of other Awakened individuals.

The teleportation of the Awakened generally gathers them together around teleportation points, and the Awakened within a radius of one mile were basically teleported into the apartment.

This meant that not too far away from them, there were respectively two teleportation points.

The good news was that perhaps he could use them for future exploration, and the bad news was that the obvious, easily-obtained experience points were naturally snatched by others first.

This made Chu Xiu a bit agitated.

”Do I need to start taking risks?” he pondered silently.

It was now the fifth day in the Abyss; the experience that was easy to gain had almost been gathered up.

Chu Xiu had two options for a profitable wave: either go down to the lower floors at night, or even leave the apartment to join the nocturnal hunt, or raid the base of the Corpse Ghosts in the underground parking lot during the day.

Both options were extremely risky, and after serious consideration, he shook his head with a wry smile.

He lowered his stance, moving swiftly through the residential buildings, treating the monotonous and tedious repeat searches as a form of training.

Training his mindset and combat skills.

Perhaps as a reward from the heavens, he finally found a small group of zombies engaged in collective hunting just as the sun was about to set, swiftly killing a total of seventeen ordinary Corpse Ghosts!

Including these, he killed a total of thirty-two Corpse Ghosts today, bringing him 195 Professional Experience points, and 89 Cause and Effect Points.

So many Corpse Ghosts finally succeeded in enhancing the Bone Spear to +7!

[Exquisite Bone Spear +7]

[Enhancement Progress: 0/10]

[Tier: Mortal]

[Quality: Fine]

[Attributes: Solid (2.8), Sharpness (3.4), Bleeding (1.9), Weight 3.5kg]

[Now you can choose to inscribe the second layer of restriction.]

[Armor Piercing: A special spiritual power structure that allows the spear tip to form a high-speed vibrating film, greatly enhancing armor-piercing ability (Sharpness +1.8)]

[Explosion: A blasting restriction that adds an additional explosion damage to each attack (Power: 2.0)]

[Bloodsucking: Now your Bone Spear can continuously extract the opponent’s life force when piercing, healing your injuries and somewhat increasing power and vitality (Absorption: 1.4)]

Once again, a familiar three choices.

But this time, Chu Xiu had no hesitation and chose [Armor Piercing].

The reason was simple: This was a strengthening of basic attributes, the higher his Constitution, the better the effect, making it more suitable for future battles.

The other two could only play a decorative role.

”Of course, to maximize the effect, I still have to wait until I’m Level 6, and then refine the Bloodthirsty Heart Refining Technique.”

”At that time, I will have the confidence to be slightly more aggressive in my actions.”

”Still have to keep grinding!”

Back at the stronghold, Shen Zhuo and others had already returned and were resting as usual.

They were very happy today, laughing and chatting in the room, clearly having gained a lot. It wasn’t until Shen Zhuo came to Chu Xiu to upgrade equipment that he learned they killed almost fifty Corpse Ghosts today, even more than he did.

Everything seemed to be heading in the right direction.

Chu Xiu accepted 98 Cause and Effect Points and helped them with another wave of reinforcements.

Everyone was very satisfied, but Chu Xiu noticed that after receiving the reinforced equipment, Li Shan and Wang Long looked at him with even more greed in their eyes.

Chu Xiu was well aware of it. After they left, he ate a few pieces of meat to restore his physical strength and continued leveling up without pause.

Throughout the night, he killed thirteen Black-haired Corpse Ghosts, and a total of twenty-two during the day.

The hunting efficiency continued to decrease.

Fortunately, Chu Xiu’s hard work paid off.

The bodies of these Corpse Ghosts brought Chu Xiu’s Bone Yin Soul Banner to +6, further expanding its capacity, and he refined a third Yin Ghost.

Although it was only Level 7, it undoubtedly further enhanced Chu Xiu’s strength.

It also brought him 59 Cause and Effect Points and a [Ordinary] quality weapon he couldn’t use.

And most importantly, after so many days of sedimentation, his level finally increased again!

[Level up!]

[Current Tier: Mortal Tier Level 6]

[A new inheritance has been unlocked.]
