Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era

Chapter 8: Chapter 8: A New Inheritance! Other Trial Takers?

As Chu Xiu shifted his focus to the latest words, two pieces of information instantly flooded his mind.

[A new Secret Technique has been unlocked]

[Bone Refining·Armor]

[Tier: Mortal]

[Quality: Advanced]

[Description: Convert the blood, flesh, and divine soul of a corpse into nourishment to nurture the bones, using it as material to refine powerful Bone Armor.]

[Evaluation: As your control ability improves, you can now craft small armor plates, contouring structures that fit the human body’s curves, capable of retaining some fur as lining.

[Take action! Create your solid defense from the corpses of others!]

[A new Magic has been unlocked]

[Yin Wind Blade]

[Tier: Mortal]

[Quality: Advanced]

[Description: Mobilize the mana within to unleash a blade slash composed of Yin Wind.]

[Evaluation: Due to its simplicity and practicality, it has become the most popular entry-level magic among Saint Sect disciples.

[Compared to ordinary Wind Blade, the power of Yin Wind Blade is greater, and upon hitting, it bursts into Yin Wind, reducing the enemy’s blood and physical strength.

[However, it’s worth noting that the power of the Yin Wind Blade reduces quickly with distance, making it unsuitable as a qualified remote attack method.

[Want to learn more powerful magic without any flaws? Then keep leveling up!]

[The next inheritance will be unlocked at Mortal Tier Level 2.]

”As expected.”

Chu Xiu knew, the true strength of the Demonic Inheritor Profession lies in the continuously unlocking inheritances!

It may not be that strong in the early stages, but in the later stages, with the entire Demon Inheritance embodied in Chu Xiu, he will absolutely crush those of the same tier, becoming a Hexagon Warrior with no weaknesses!

”And the two newly unlocked inheritances are perfect for me now, one enriching my offensive techniques, the other enhancing my defensive abilities, allowing more margin for error in battles against those unknown monsters!”

Chu Xiu attempted to condense a Yin Wind Blade. Soon, a grey-black wind blade appeared in his palm, and Chu Xiu could feel its astonishing power, enough to sever a small tree as thick as a bowl!

The rules of the Abyss automatically taught him this magic, although the skill level was just at the basic entry-level; to increase the Yin Wind Blade’s power, further practice is needed.

After assessing the situation, he waved his hand to dissipate the wind blade in his palm, turning towards the giant moth’s corpse he had just slain to initiate Bone Refining.

Immediately, the giant moth’s flesh began to dissolve, and its bones started to condense. In a trance, Chu Xiu even felt the giant moth’s scattered divine soul nearby being torn, burned, and then fused into its bones.

After a dozen seconds, as everything settled, a glowing white breastplate and several bone fragments appeared on the ground, connected by delicate leather straps.

With a thought, those bone fragments flew up automatically, perfectly fitting his vital areas.

[Damaged Bone Armor]

[Tier: Mortal]

[Quality: Trash]

[Attributes: Defense (1.2), Insulation (0.1), Weight 1.1kg]

[Evaluation: Fragile armor refined from the corpse of an ugly insect.

[Why do you always find these bizarre materials?

[Why don’t you use simple, readily available, yet highly effective materials—live humans?

[You are simply the shame of Demon Cultivators!]

Very well, as always, sharp-tongued.

Chu Xiu was already accustomed to it; he examined the armor plates on him, harder than expected, like some lightweight stone, but the defense area was indeed too small.

He turned to Yun Lu, who was startled: ”Shall we continue?”

...

Time passed, the sun outside the window gradually lowered, hanging at the city’s edge, its remaining light covering the decaying city in a golden glow.

It had been three hours since Chu Xiu arrived in this world.

”There should be another hour or so until nightfall.”

Looking at the twilight outside, Chu Xiu spoke softly.

During this time, he and Yun Lu cautiously explored downward from the high floors, reaching the Eighth Layer.

Thanks to Yun Lu’s miraculous talent, they managed to avoid monsters along the way without danger and successfully refined twenty-six dried corpses.

Under Yun Lu’s amazed gaze, the Bone Armor continued to perfect, ultimately reaching +2 enhancement.

At this moment, he was wearing a complete set of Bone Armor. The pale bone fragments covered his joints and vital areas entirely, with a ferocious horned helmet on his head, making Chu Xiu look like a knight returned from Hell.

The current Bone Armor had a defense capability reaching 2.0 and could cover the main parts of Chu Xiu’s body entirely.

However, the weight now reached 15.7kg, feeling quite heavy when worn. The bones sometimes clattered against each other with a ”clang, clang” sound while walking.

Fortunately, the digitized Bone Armor can be stored away in the Storage Space at any time and worn only during combat.

Everyone in the Abyss has an initial Storage Space, which expands as their Tier increases.

For Mortal Tier Awakened, it’s roughly a cubic meter in size, just enough to squeeze in the Bone Armor, but the Bone Spear wouldn’t fit.

”Enhancing the Bone Armor consumes much more than the Bone Spear.”

”Moreover, after I leveled up to Level 1, not only did the Professional Experience required for upgrades double, but the difficulty in gaining experience also increased. Absorbing these corpses brings almost no experience anymore.”

”To level up, I still need to kill live creatures!”

”If lucky, they might even drop Equipment and treasures.”

Chu Xiu thought to himself.

In the digitized Abyss, killing any creature could result in extra loot, with stronger creatures having higher drop rates.

The most common loot is something called [Cause and Effect Points], which can directly increase Professional Experience and can even be used to upgrade Skills, quickly enhancing an Awakened’s combat power. It is a hard currency in the Abyss and something Chu Xiu urgently desires.

But the immediate priority is to find a place to stay overnight, as humans are not suited for fighting in the dark.

”There used to be a resident on the eleventh floor who installed a security door, and it’s well-preserved with ample space; it’s a good spot to rest.”

”The one on the thirteenth floor with wire meshes is also good. I just checked, and its lock is in good condition, with rust at an acceptable level...”

As Chu Xiu pondered silently, Yun Lu suddenly stopped and tugged at his clothes.

Chu Xiu looked up and made a gesture.

[Enemy?]

Yun Lu shook his head and returned a gesture.

[Humans!]

Receiving this answer, Chu Xiu was initially taken aback but then narrowed his eyes.

In fact, he could sense that there were at least a dozen Trial Takers in this apartment building.

Because along the way, they noticed many rooms showed signs of being searched.

However, the apartment building is quite large, with four staircases on each floor. The Trial Takers here have all been trained and are good at hiding themselves. Besides, humans have a much fainter scent than other animals, so Yun Lu could only detect them from very close.

This is why, despite exploring for so long, they haven’t spotted any other Trial Takers.

After a brief contemplation, Chu Xiu made a gesture.

[Let’s go check it out.]

He wanted to hunt those monsters to level up, and the more people, the safer it would be.

Just unsure if others would be as agreeable as Yun Lu.

Soon, led by Yun Lu, Chu Xiu arrived at a half-closed door.

With a thought, the complete Bone Armor donned onto him.

In the next moment, amid creaking sounds, the wooden door was slowly pushed open.

The room inside was silent, and the empty living room had no apparent hiding place.

However... Chu Xiu glanced at the overlapping footprints on the floor.

He said nothing, merely walked in slowly, with Yun Lu holding a large iron pot following closely beside him.

Suddenly, a fierce voice rang out:

”Step any closer, and I’ll crush your skull.”

Yun Lu was startled, instinctively shrinking behind Chu Xiu, who remained calm: ”Are you sure you want to attack me with what’s in your hand?”

As he finished speaking, a tall figure emerged from the corner of the wall.

The figure was a young man over 1.8 meters tall, with a face full of pimples and a rogue demeanor, his gaze deceptively fierce for his age.

He was holding a metal baseball bat, eyeing Chu Xiu warily.

Upon seeing the terrifying Bone Armor on Chu Xiu and the sharp Bone Spear in his hand, his demeanor clearly faltered. Yet, he was reluctant to yield: ”Aren’t you afraid of attracting those monsters by fighting here?”

Seeing that the two seemed ready to fight, Yun Lu anxiously made wild gestures, his hand speed quick as if forming seals.

[No infighting! No infighting! No infighting!]

However, both continued to watch each other cautiously.

In the lawless Abyss, never underestimate human treachery, just as Chu Xiu didn’t know whether the tall young man in front of him would strike a deadly blow simply for his Equipment once he dropped his guard.

Even if there’s only a one percent chance, he wouldn’t relax.

Evidently, the young man felt the same way.

As the two were in a standoff, Yun Lu standing bewildered, a voice filled with doubt came from the left bedroom.

”Chu Xiu?”
