Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era

Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Killing Intent

Chu Xiu’s fearless demeanor made the four hesitate once again.

Although they were confident that the fighting power of the four could crush Chu Xiu, precisely because of this, they dared to come together, but they never underestimated Chu Xiu in their hearts.

After all, he had the first-mover advantage, even if a solo hunting efficiency was lower than team action, by any calculation, he should be at Level 3 by now.

At the same Level 3, it was much harder for the four to subdue Chu Xiu without injury than to kill him.

The most important thing was that everyone clearly knew one thing.

Chu Xiu was a ruthless character.

A completely different kind of ruthless character compared to them, a bunch of high schoolers.

As they hesitated, suddenly a puzzled voice came from outside the door: ”Why haven’t you left yet?”

It was Shen Zhuo.

Probably came looking for others after seeing they hadn’t returned to the base for a long time.

”Tch,” Wu Xinyi spat with displeasure, leaving a harsh word: ”This isn’t over.”

With that, she turned around, pushed the door, and left.

The others saw the team disband, and naturally, they followed suit and left.

Chu Xiu, on the other hand, shook his head with some disappointment.

To be honest, if these four had the determination for murder and robbery, he’d think more highly of them.

But perhaps it’s for the best this way.

He didn’t mind going on a killing spree, but currently maintaining a superficial friendship with Shen Zhuo’s team was advantageous for his development.

Not to mention the short-term gain in Cause and Effect Points, in future long-term exploration, this rich second generation Shen Zhuo could provide a lot of help.

After all, once the seven-day trial was over, the other side was bound to obtain a large batch of family supplies, and collaborating with him next time would offer great convenience.

So, even if he had to take action, Chu Xiu wanted to minimize the impact.

But... the premise is that these people do not threaten him.

Thinking of Li Shan’s look of resentment and greed as he left, Chu Xiu showed a contemplative expression.

After pondering on the spot for a while, he snapped his fingers, and the Yin Ghost dispersed into a Soul Body state, following distantly behind them.

...

”Brother Wang, are we just going to let this go?”

After leaving, Li Shan asked, somewhat unwillingly.

Wang Long snorted, ”What else can we do? You know better than anyone that Shen Zhuo is a good-natured person. If anything happens, we’re the ones in trouble.”

”Of course, we can’t just let it go like this; we’ll find another opportunity in the future, no need to rush now.”

Wu Xinyi also nodded, ”Exactly, we are all in combat professions, and the gap between his strength and ours will only widen. Right now, we’re somewhat wary of his Bone Armor, but once we level up and acquire advanced combat skills, subduing him will be a piece of cake.”

The tall and thin man added, ”We can also raise the price of meat, we can’t let him live too comfortably.”

”Exactly!” Wang Long nodded viciously, ”He doesn’t have Yun Lu on his own; where’s he going to find food? He’ll have to resort to asking us sooner or later!”

This method is actually quite feasible; in these end times, finding food is indeed of utmost importance, especially as the Awakened level up, their food intake increases.

Although Chu Xiu was lucky enough to get a little wild boar, this guy was only about fifty kilograms, half of which was eaten by that Elite Corpse Dog, and after subtracting skin, bones, organs that leaked onto the ground, only five or six kilograms were left usable.

If he ate freely, he could finish it in a day.

If food wasn’t so scarce, Chu Xiu wouldn’t have been bringing Yun Lu around from the start.

Subsequently, they each proposed their own ways to target Chu Xiu, venting their dissatisfaction.

Things like charging him for staying at the base overnight, or for security fees, etc.

However, these methods were somewhat childish.

And at this moment, Li Shan suddenly said nonchalantly, ”If subduing him is such a hassle, why don’t we just find an opportunity to kill him?”

As soon as he finished speaking, the other three halted in their steps, turning to look at him.

Li Shan waved his hand repeatedly, ”Ah, sorry, I got caught in my thoughts and spoke without thinking. We’re all classmates; how could we really kill someone.”

Wu Xinyi frowned, ”I don’t like him, but he hasn’t done anything wrong. That’s going too far.”

The tall and thin guy added, ”Right, the three no’s principle is experience distilled by our predecessors, with non-strife being paramount. We’re helping to recover the Cause and Effect Points he owes you, but murder and robbery is absolutely forbidden. Once we set a precedent, it’ll just spiral into mutual suspicion and vigilance.”

Li Shan laughed, ”Ah, I was just suggesting a possibility. Of course, I don’t actually think that way; what kind of person do you think I am?”

Wu Xinyi and the tall thin man nodded in agreement without further argument, though Wang Long showed a contemplative expression, seemingly calculating something.

The four didn’t discuss further and returned to the base.

Soon, laughter could be heard, as if the earlier conversation had never taken place.

...

”Li Shan, this guy, is a bit more dangerous than I thought.”

In his room, Chu Xiu, who had heard every word through the Yin Ghost, curled his lips into a playful smile, but his eyes grew cold.

By himself, Li Shan posed no threat to him.

But if he convinced others, especially Shen Zhuo to bring an entire team, Chu Xiu would find it troublesome.

Shen Zhuo was legitimately a Level 4 High Grade Combat Profession with two Collection Quality pieces of equipment.

Others may have low combat power, but their formation is quite balanced, with both melee and ranged; taking on Chu Xiu together would be a headache.

And in the worst-case scenario on paper, he still had to account for Guan Ke.

Everyone says Mechanicians are weak in the early stages, but weak is compared to other A-level professions, anyone ignoring them is a fool.

One also had to consider the unknown variables that could be brought by that S-Class talent.

Chu Xiu didn’t believe these ragtag individuals could truly unite, but neither would he lower his guard.

”Seems like it’s time to pre-emptively eliminate potential future threats.”

”But... I need the right opportunity.”

Chu Xiu had already devised a plan in his mind.

But for now, the most important thing for him was to enhance his power.

”First, I should consider how to spend the Cause and Effect Points.”

Currently holding nearly four hundred Cause and Effect Points, Chu Xiu was the richest person in the base by far.

After some contemplation, he decided to save them for now.

Yin Wind Blade is an elementary spell, and upgrading it further is not very meaningful, while other skills can be leveled up steadily, spending Cause and Effect Points on forced upgrades seems like a loss.

Better to save them for future skills.

If nothing else, he could directly increase professional experience to raise his level.

”Next, it’s time for—”

”Hunting time!”

Chu Xiu licked his lips with excitement.

For a Demon Cultivator profession, constant slaughter is the path to rapid strength!

The entire city full of Corpse Demons is his growth nourishment!

Following the method he used the day before, after securing a safety device with climbing ropes, he began descending along the wall.

Clinging to the wall’s edge, the midnight cold wind blew against his face, and as he looked down, countless black spots were moving swiftly with chilling roars echoing occasionally.

The Corpse Demons were hunting frenziedly, when without prey, they hunted among themselves.

One after another, the Corpse Demons were dismembered, black blood staining the parched earth, as if devouring the land’s vitality.

”Today’s Corpse Demons seem even more frenzied than yesterday.”

As he watched the bloody scene below, Chu Xiu seemed to realize something.

He looked up, seeing the blood-colored moon rising slowly.

Today’s blood moon was fuller than yesterday, and its emanating red glow was more enchanting.

A thought flashed through his mind like lightning.

”If it continues changing at this pace, by the night after tomorrow, which is the last night before the trial ends, the moon will just be full...”
