Chapter 441: Chapter 256: Su Yu’s Summer_3 Chapter 441: Chapter 256: Su Yu’s Summer_3 I don’t ask for much, just the occasional concern from you.

I will restrain myself from missing you and try not to disturb you.

“Knock knock knock—” There was a knocking at the door.

Mo Xiangwan walked in, “Yu, dinner is ready.”

“I’m not hungry.”

“You have a concert tomorrow, you can’t afford any mishap now.”

Su Yu fell silent for a moment, then softly “mm-hmmed” and stood up from the balcony.

She had just come to the living room.

“Thump thump thump,” hurried footsteps followed.

Soon after, life assistant Cheng Xiaoxi leaned in and whispered, “Sister Yu, that Douyin account [April] you asked me to pay special attention to just posted a new video related to you.”

“Give it to me!” Su Yu’s expression changed slightly as she reached out for the phone.

Mo Xiangwan also came over.

She clicked play.

Soft music started playing, illuminating the dim screen featuring a sheet of paper and a pair of hands.

“It’s my song,” Su Yu said softly.

Tomorrow was the concert, and she had just heard about a video related to her, causing an inexplicable worry.

If it were just the song, it should be fine.

Soon, as the beautiful singing continued, lines began to appear on the paper.

Su Yu’s eyes widened a bit, her heart unexpectedly began to beat wildly.

Her sketching skills were excellent, practiced since childhood. She watched as the outlines were drawn.

She vaguely felt they were somewhat similar to herself.

Midway through the video, it suddenly sped up, and the music also switched to a more rousing one.

The portrait on the paper became clearer, a face with an ethereal smile took form.

“Yu, it’s you!” Mo Xiangwan immediately beamed with joy.

Su Yu’s face was slightly blank, her breathing quick and ragged.

Then, the video and the music slowed down again.

He wrote in the bottom right corner of the portrait, “2023, Yu, if it’s fate, we won’t miss each other!”

Su Yu clenched her teeth tightly, holding back tears that threatened to spill.

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

Keeping her expression calm, Su Yu said, “Let’s eat first, Xi, call the styling team over. I want to confirm the details of the hair and makeup design with them again.”

“Okay, Sister Yu, I’ll contact them right away.”

“Also, notify the directorial team that we will have a meeting tomorrow morning at 8 o’clock to discuss stage effects, lighting, and sound.”

“Sure, Sister Yu!”

…

7:30 in the evening.

Bamboo Stream Community.

Cheng Qiuyu took out the takeout she’d ordered and set it out on the dining table, one by one.

All kinds of skewers, snacks, and a whole fried chicken.

Then she fetched a pack of canned beer from the fridge.

“You’ve really been a great help today, senior, taking care of a lot for me.”

“What’s there to thank? Soon, we’ll be real housemates,” Gao Mengting took a chilly beer can and popped the tab with a “crack.”

“Senior, here’s to you.”

“Clink—” their beer cans met.

The cold beer slid down her throat, followed by a bite of the savory lamb kebab, Gao Mengting comfortably narrowed her eyes.

Cheng Qiuyu looked at Gao Mengting across the table, “Senior, revisiting our alma mater today, must have felt quite nostalgic, right?”

“Mm,” Gao Mengting put down her beer, “If I say the most relaxed, enjoyable time in my life was probably in college. Even now, I often dream of the library, dormitory, canteen with my classmates…”

“So, what’s the most beautiful memory you have from college, senior?”

Gao Mengting thought for a moment, her face alight with reflection, “The gentle breeze of summer subtly brushed through the campus, sunshine streaming through the gaps in the leaves, casting mottled shadows. I sat beside the tree-lined path on a stone bench, holding a book in my hand, lost in a world that intertwined with the campus.”

“That sounds wonderful,” Cheng Qiuyu exclaimed with emotion.

The two of them chatted while sipping on drinks and eating, and the atmosphere became increasingly relaxed.

Before they realized it, they were both slightly tipsy.

At some point,

a WeChat video call invitation sounded on the phone on the table.

Seeing the caller ID, Cheng Qiuyu hesitated before accepting the call, “Hello, Yufan, what’s up?”

Immediately after, a drunken male voice came through: “Qiuyu! I graduated today, and there’s something I’ve wanted to say for a long time. I’m afraid I’ll regret it for the rest of my life if I don’t say it now. I like you, I really do, ever since freshman year, I’ve been paying attention to every little thing about you…”

His voice was wholehearted and grew more fluent as he spoke.

He spoke for five or six minutes without stopping.

The library, the sports field, the study room, the corridors of the campus…

In corners of the campus Cheng Qiuyu had never noticed, he had watched over her every day.

Cheng Qiuyu replied earnestly, “Thank you for your feelings, and I hope you find the right person soon.”

After ending the video call,

Gao Mengting said softly, “You can tell, he really does like you.”

“His name is Li Yufan, my college classmate and a good friend. His design skills are top-notch, he got into a graduate program at a 985 university, handsome too, he’s an exceptional guy.”

“Then what about you and him…”

Cheng Qiuyu fell silent for a moment, her face turning red and said, “Senior, I think there might be something wrong with me psychologically.”

“What’s wrong?” Gao Mengting asked in surprise, looking at her.

“I don’t seem to feel the impulse to date or get to know a guy deeply, and I don’t have much desire either.”

Gao Mengting gaped in astonishment, “Then… what about with the same sex?”

She and Cheng Qiuyu weren’t really close.

After all, there was a three-year gap between them; when she was a senior starting her business, Cheng Qiuyu was just a freshman.

The two had connected over some freelance design work.

Subsequent contact had mostly been about work.

Later, when Cheng Qiuyu moved to the area, they rarely had the chance for such in-depth conversations because Cheng Qiuyu often went back to campus and Gao Mengting was always working overtime.

“No, not with the same sex either,” Cheng Qiuyu hastily shook her head, then took a big swig of her drink and whispered, “But I do really like Su Yu.”

Gao Mengting’s mouth twitched as her perception of her junior completely changed.

Goodness, Qiuyu, don’t tell me you’re actually a lesbian!

Noticing the strange look in her eyes, Cheng Qiuyu’s face became even redder and warmer. “No, senior, you’ve got it wrong.

I’ve been a fan of hers since middle school, and when she hit rock bottom, it coincided with the most painful and sad time in my life.

Seeing her climb back to the top inspired me greatly, and I gradually emerged from the gloom.

In a sense, she’s not just my idol, but also a pillar of my soul and emotional support, that’s why I love her so much.”

Gao Mengting said with a secretive expression, “By the way, Su Yu’s concert is tomorrow, do you have any plans?”

She happened to have two concert invitations in hand.

Since her junior had been staying on campus for the past few days, she hadn’t told her yet.

“Hmm, I have two more days off from work, and my schedule for tomorrow is already full. First, I’m going to join other fans to give her support, promote her online, organize offline activities, and build up the atmosphere. In the evening, I’ll watch the live broadcast outside the venue when the concert starts.”

“Wait for me, I’m going to fetch something,” Gao Mengting said, standing up and heading to the bedroom.

After a moment, she returned with a book in hand, offering it to Cheng Qiuyu, “This is ‘Norwegian Wood,’ a book I really like; you might want to read it when you have the time.”

Cheng Qiuyu was stunned, then quickly took it with both hands, “Thank you, senior!”

Gao Mengting pinched her cheek, “Would you like to experience the atmosphere of Su Yu’s concert live?”

Cheng Qiuyu nodded, still a bit dazed, “Of course, I’ve dreamt of it.”

“Open the first page of the book and look inside; it’s a graduation gift for you.”

“A graduation gift?” Cheng Qiuyu gently flipped open the cover and, seeing the invitation inside, her face lit up with disbelief.

Gao Mengting raised her beer with a smile, “The 21st is the summer solstice; get ready for a summer that belongs to Su Yu.”
