Chapter 101: Unhygienic And Inconvenient

When Lu Qianxuan received the report about the items sent by his wife, the items had already been stored in the warehouse.

While he was the General, he couldn’t have a separate warehouse in the barracks. All items would be stored in the same warehouse, besides personal belongings that he stored in his tent.

”General, this is a letter from the Madam,” Su Moye handed over the letter.

Receiving the letter, Lu Qianxuan smiled and asked, ”Did Madam send anything else?”

Just after he finished his words, a guard entered the tent while holding a bundle. ”General, this is a package sent by the Madam.”

Before they sent the package to the General, they had to inspect the items first. So, Lu Qianxuan nodded and said, ”Place it on the desk.”

”Yes.”

The guard placed the package on his desk before he left the tent. As for Su Moye, he stood at the side and waited.

Lu Qianxuan opened the letter and read it. Thinking about the letters he sent back home, he couldn’t help but anticipate his wife’s reply.

At first, he thought that his wife would at least write a few caring words since she had already learned about his wounds. Unexpectedly, besides telling him about the items she sent over and the situation in the mansion, there was nothing else.

The more he read, the angrier he became. At the end of the letter, his wife even told him to focus on his important matters and that there was no need to send so many letters back home unless he needed anything.

When he finished reading the letter, he clenched his fists and said through gritted teeth, ”Xue Ya’er, you are really good!”

Noticing his anger, Su Moye only gave him a glance and continued standing there as if he were a statue.

Lu Qianxuan was seething with anger due to embarrassment and disappointment. It took a long time for him to calm down. Looking at the crumpled letter, he hesitated for a moment before he straightened it up.

Letting out a sigh, he opened the bundle. When he saw the clothes and shoes, he caressed them for a moment before he said, ”Moye, when you go back tomorrow, tell my wife that I will return when I’m done with my matters in a few days.”

Hearing this, Su Moye cupped his fists, bowed, and replied, ”Understood.”

”You can leave now.”

Su Moye nodded and left the General’s tent. Since it was already late, he didn’t take a bath and only asked for a basin of water to wash his face and feet.

Early the next morning, a group of guards left the military barracks before dawn.

At the same time, Yao Zhi woke up due to a stomachache. As she lay on the bed, she felt a twisting pain in her lower abdomen. It had been more than 3 weeks since she came to this world.

Due to her busy life, she forgot about her monthly relatives. Her current body was not hers, and she didn’t know the date or how regular this body’s period was.

She never expected that after she transmigrated, she would experience the hellish pain of stomach cramps due to her period. Not only did she feel constant throbbing pain in her lower abdomen, but her back and thighs were also aching terribly.

After she let out a low, muffled groan, she gathered her senses and took out the spiritual spring jade water from her system’s storage. Using all the strength she had left, she walked to the table slowly.

Using a bowl, she poured some water and added 5 drops of spiritual spring water. Although it’s not good to drink cold water during her period, she was too weak to boil hot water.

Yao Zhi drank the water and lay on the table with a frown. Maybe the spiritual spring could really relieve her pain. A few minutes later, the pain in her body lessened.

She opened her eyes and no longer felt dizzy or nauseous. Besides the bloating feeling and slight headache, there was only slight throbbing pain in her abdomen.

She waited for a while before she opened her system’s shop. In this era, there were no sanitary pads, let alone tampons or menstrual cups. Women would use wood ashes and ramie cloth to make a menstrual belt and use it.

Because it was inconvenient to use, most women would avoid doing strenuous work and stay still as much as possible in case they leaked.

Thinking about how unhygienic and inconvenient having a period in this era was, Yao Zhi couldn’t help but thank the heavens for giving her a system.

She didn’t like using tampons or menstrual cups, so she chose sanitary pads with wings for night use. She bought a box costing her 15 points. There were a total of 25 packs in one box, and each pack contained 15 pads.

To avoid soiling her underwear and clothes, she bought 5 period underwear, costing her 5 points each.

Since she was experiencing too much pain, she also bought a box of ibuprofen for 5 points. Each box contained 2 strips with 15 tablets per strip.

After she bought the medicine, she also bought a box of disposable heating pads, costing her 8 points, containing a total of 25 pads.

When she was done, the pain was no longer as unbearable as before. Standing up, she felt a little dizzy and had to hold onto the table. A few minutes later, she felt better and went to the kitchen to boil water.

She was moving like a snail, and it took her a long time to take a bath and change her clothes. When she was done, the sky brightened as the sun rose on the eastern horizon.

Yao Zhi was feeling much better and went to light the stove. For breakfast, she made brown sugar poached eggs. To warm up her stomach, she added several slices of ginger.

For the staple, she made sweet potato porridge. She didn’t use rice but instead used millet. Then, for side dishes, she stir-fried bok choy with garlic and oyster sauce.

The dishes were simple and didn’t take long for her to prepare. While she ate in the kitchen, Zhou Boming and Zhou Zihong were on their way to visit her.
