Chapter 36: Donating Grains ( 5 )

Seeing the money, Zhen Fu nodded and wrote the agreement on the spot before they signed their names and put their fingerprints. Each of them held one copy of the agreement and went to check the warehouse.

As the carriage moved, Zhen Fu couldn’t help but observe the young man sitting across from him. Judging from his appearance, he must be a young master from a wealthy family.

Although Zhen Fu was happy to close a deal, he still thought that this young man was too naive and might suffer from his recklessness.

Half an hour later, the carriage stopped outside a small courtyard. Besides a small yard, there was only one two-story building and two small buildings on the sides.

The stone tiles were broken in some parts, and yellowed weeds stubbornly grew in the corner. Although the warehouse was covered by a layer of dust, Yao Zhi felt satisfied.

After they checked the warehouse, Zhen Fu handed the keys to her while saying, ”Young master Lei, these are the keys. We only have one set. But if you are worried, you can change the locks if you want.”

”Thank you,” Yao Zhi nodded and kept the keys.

When she was alone, Yao Zhi opened her system shop and bought four padlocks, costing her 2 points each. She changed the locks and kept the old locks with the keys in her system storage.

Afterward, she opened the system shop and checked her points. One dan of grains was equal to two bags of grains sold in the system shop, costing 20 points.

With her current points, she could only buy 13,449 dan of grains, leaving her with only 7 points left. After she thought for a moment, Yao Zhi decided to buy ten thousand dan of grains first, costing her 200,000 points. Now, she only has 68,987 left.

Ten thousand dan of grains was equal to five hundred thousand kilograms. This amount should be enough to solve the White Tiger army emergency.

Although she felt heartache, Yao Zhi still gritted her teeth and bought the grains. Fortunately, she noticed the option when buying the millet. Otherwise, she might have to break her arms and waist to change the packaging.

She could choose the type of sacks she wanted and the weight for each sack. To make it easier to weigh later, she just chose a fifty-kilogram type of hemp sack.

When she was done shopping, she took out the bags and filled the warehouse. After she locked the doors, Yao Zhi finally returned to the town.

It took only half an hour when she used a carriage, but when she walked back, it took her almost two hours. ”No wonder the price is cheap, the location of this warehouse is indeed far from town,” she muttered to herself.

If not because it was convenient for her to take out her grains without people noticing, she wouldn’t choose this warehouse at all. When she returned to Zhu’an town, it was already in the afternoon.

Worrying that someone would steal her grains, she went to an escort agency to hire bodyguards. When she saw the dilapidated building, Yao Zhi hesitated for a long time before she finally walked in.

No matter how broken the building was, she couldn’t judge the book by its cover. What’s more, this was the only escort agency in this town.

The moment she walked past the door, several burly men turned to look at her.

Meeting their sharp, cold gazes, Yao Zhi shuddered, but she still cupped her fists and said, ”Greetings, everyone. I want to hire several bodyguards. Can you please inform the one in charge?”

As soon as she said this, the expressions of the group changed instantly. Smiles appeared on their faces as one of them stood up and returned her greetings.

”Greetings, Young master. My name is Luo Bo, the owner of the Fei Long escort agency,” a burly man with a beard said loudly.

For a moment, Yao Zhi thought that the man’s name was radish. But when she thought about it, she realized that she was being silly. No matter how illiterate people in this era were, it was impossible for parents to name their son radish.

”Greetings, Master Luo. My name is Lei Feng.”

Luo Bo gestured for her to take a seat and asked, ”Young master Lei, may I ask how many people you want to hire, and what do you want to transport?”

After taking her seat, Yao Zhi explained, ”Master Luo, I came to this town to sell grains and need several skilled bodyguards to guard my warehouse.”

”Where is your warehouse’s location?”

”It’s on the outskirts of this town. It took half an hour to reach it by carriage.”

Luo Bo nodded and said, ”Currently, my escort agency has a total of twenty-five people. Since the mission is guarding the warehouse, we only charge five hundred wen daily for one person.”

Yao Zhi thought about the food shortage and the rising price of grains. At this moment, the possibility of people stealing grains was higher compared to other times. So, she might need to hire more people.

After thinking for a while, she said, ”I want to hire fifteen people, but I don’t know how long I need them. So, I will pay them daily.”

”Besides their daily wage, I will give them an addition of five dan of grains after this mission is over. But they have to stay in the warehouse during this period. Master Luo, do you think this arrangement is alright?”

The moment everyone heard this, they were eager to take the job. Luo Bo glanced at his brothers and understood their eagerness. This mission was low risk, and the reward was high. Not to mention them, even he himself wanted to take this mission.

He looked at the young man before him and considered the pros and cons for a while before he said, ”Young master Lei, we usually don’t take a mission without a definite time.”

Noticing that he had a request, Yao Zhi gestured for him to speak. ”Master Luo, if you have any requirements, please speak freely.”
