Transmigrated To Ancient Time: Thrive With An Auction System!

Chapter 24: Another Shopping Trip

When Yao Zhi arrived at the border town, it was already noon. After she showed the introduction letter, she entered the town smoothly. Learning from yesterday’s experience, she went to another market first.

She wandered around the town for half an hour before finding the market. While it was called a market, it was just two main roads with several alleys where the peddlers set up their stalls and sold their goods.

On the side of the main roads, the storefront and shops were crowded with customers.

Yao Zhi visited every stall and checked the goods. When she saw a stall selling veiled hats and umbrellas, she walked over. The moment the stall owner saw her, his eyes lit up.

”Young lady, you have a good eye. The embroidery on this veiled hat is the newest design,” the stall owner said with a smile.

Yao Zhi looked at the embroidery and nodded. Compared to modern machine embroidery, the charm of ancient handiwork was indeed different. While she looked at the veiled hat, she asked, ”Brother, how much is this veiled hat?”

The stall owner was a man in his late thirties. Being called Brother by a young, beautiful lady put him in a good mood. ”Young lady, you only need to pay fifteen wen for this veiled hat.”

Hearing this, Yao Zhi frowned. Fifteen wen could buy almost six jin of coarse grain.

Noticing her hesitation, the stall owner added, ”Young lady, the craftsmanship of this veiled hat is very good. What’s more, we used high-quality materials. Besides my stall, you won’t find another stall selling veiled hats with this kind of quality.”

After a moment of silence, Yao Zhi finally said, ”I’ll take it.”

The stall owner was delighted and asked, ”Young lady, we also have embroidered round fans. Do you want to take a look?”

Yao Zhi looked at the round fans and felt that the materials were indeed good. She wondered if she could sell them in the system shop or auction them off. ”How much are they?” she asked.

”This round fan only costs fifty wen each!”

”So expensive?” Yao Zhi frowned.

”Young lady, we used silk thread for embroidery and ramie fabric as the main material. Not to mention the labor cost, even the materials already cost more than thirty wen. If we sell it for less than fifty wen, we won’t be able to make a living,” the stall owner replied.

Yao Zhi glanced at the stall owner’s patched clothes and dirty shoes with holes. She had earned twenty thousand taels of silver by selling a glass pen, so she didn’t haggle with him. She took out a purse from her sleeve.

Handing a piece of silver to the stall owner, she said, ”I’ll take this veiled hat and three round fans.”

The stall owner weighed the silver piece in his hand and smiled. ”Young lady, please wait a moment. I’ll pack it up for you.”

The piece of silver was equal to two hundred fifty wen. After he packed the round fans, he gave Yao Zhi fifty wen in change.

Yao Zhi put the bronze coins in her purse and put on the veiled hat. After accepting the small package, she thanked the stall owner and left.

Before heading to the border market, she stored the round fans in her shop’s warehouse.

When she arrived at the border market, she noticed the young man who sold the wolf meat jerky. Unlike yesterday, there was less meat jerky in his stall.

Thinking about his request for grains and water, Yao Zhi went to the corner and opened her system. Today, instead of buying white rice, she chose ten bags of millet. Each bag weighed fifty jin and cost ten points

When she was done, she went to the young man’s stall and asked, ”Brother, how much is your meat jerky?”

Compared to before, her voice was clearer with a slightly higher pitch, so the young man didn’t recognize her at all.

Seeing another thin girl, the young man glanced at her without interest and replied, ”A jin of meat jerky for twenty-five jin of grain.”

Noticing the young man’s indifferent attitude, Yao Zhi was confused. He had been quite friendly yesterday. Why was he suddenly so cold today?

While she had her doubts, she didn’t dwell on it. After all, she was different from yesterday. It was normal if he didn’t recognize her. In fact, she hoped he didn’t.

The young man saw the thin girl standing there silently and thought she had found the price too high. Before he could chase her away, he heard her say, ”Brother, I have a total of ten bags of grain. Each bag weighs fifty jin. Do you have twenty jin of meat jerky?”

At first, the young man thought she was joking. So he asked, ”This lady, are you sure you want to buy twenty jin of my meat jerky?”

Yao Zhi nodded and replied, ”I’ll go get the grains for you while you prepare the meat jerky.” After she said this, Yao Zhi turned and left in large strides. She went to a desolate alley and opened her system shop.

Since she couldn’t carry ten bags of grain by herself, she had to buy a cart. To avoid suspicion, she chose a wooden cart sold for one hundred points.

She took out the cart and filled it with the grain sacks. Although the cart looked similar to those used in this era, the design followed a modern structure. Yao Zhi pushed the cart easily and returned in less than fifteen minutes.

The moment the young man saw a cart full of grains, his eyes widened in surprise. He quickly walked over and helped Yao Zhi move the grain. When he touched the smooth surface of the grain sack, he was shocked.

The materials used to make grain sacks were usually hemp or coarse fabric. This was the first time he had seen this kind of sack. He tried to pierce it with his sharp nails, but after several attempts, he couldn’t break it.

’Such durable materials! It must be expensive!’ he exclaimed inwardly.
