Chapter 4: Am I Married?

At noon, Yao Zhi finally had the time to check on the spiritual spring. Sitting on her bed, she opened the jade bottle and took a sniff.

The spiritual spring was indeed good stuff. Just by taking a sniff, she felt her mind was refreshed and her fatigue was lessened.

Thinking about the limited amount of spiritual spring she could get daily, she thought for a moment before she went to pour a bowl of boiled water.

Since she didn’t know how potent the spiritual spring was, she didn’t dare to use it too much. She carefully added a drop of spiritual spring into the water before she closed the lid and stored the jade bottle in her spatial bag.

Picking up the water, she no longer smelled the moss scent from it. Instead, there was a refreshing scent similar to the mix of mint, lemon balm, and citrus fruits.

The moment she took a sip, her eyes lit up instantly. The water no longer tasted weird. Instead, it was refreshing, with a hint of sweetness at the end.

Yao Zhi finished the water in several gulps and let out a content sigh. ”Ah~ It’s so refreshing!”

After a few seconds, she felt the throbbing pain on the back of her head lessen, and she no longer felt dizzy and tired.

Now that her stomach was full and she was no longer in pain, she felt sleepy. As she let out a yawn, she walked to the bed. Due to the wound on the back of her head, she didn’t dare to lie flat and could only sleep with her face facing down.

She thought that she wouldn’t be able to sleep well in this position. Unexpectedly, the moment her chubby cheek hit the bamboo pillow, she fell into a deep sleep.

When Wang Shen returned in the afternoon, she was surprised to hear a loud snoring coming from the house. Looking at the open door, she walked in and saw that no one was around besides Yao Zhi.

She slapped her thigh and said, ”That brat must have run off to play again!”

Fearing that she would be suffocated during her sleep, Wang Shen went to check on Yao Zhi. Only when she saw that she was sleeping soundly did she go to the kitchen to boil the medicine.

Unlike other families, while the kitchen was simple, the pots and pans in the Fu family’s house were more complete.

Most families had to share one iron wok, while Fu Chen’an’s family owned two iron woks and two iron pots. Compared to others, their family could be said to be living a good life.

Thinking of this, Wang Shen couldn’t help but sigh. She couldn’t understand why Yao Zhi was so unwilling to live a good life with such a good man.

Not only was he hardworking and thrifty, but he also had a clean personal life.

Most of the military men would visit the military prostitutes at least once a month, but Fu Chen’an never visited them and never got involved with any woman since he enlisted years ago.

Despite her confusion, Wang Shen was an outsider, and she wasn’t in any position to comment on another family’s personal matters. So, she stopped thinking about it and focused on brewing the medicine.

Half an hour later, Yao Zhi was awakened by a push.

”Girl, wake up and take your medicine first.”

Hearing an unfamiliar voice, Yao Zhi’s eyes snapped open suddenly. She sat up and stared at the old woman for a while before she asked, ”Who are you?”

When she heard this, Wang Shen was taken aback. They lived next to each other. Even if they were not close, she should have known who she was.

”Girl, you don’t know me? I’m Wang Shen, who lives next to you, ah.”

Yao Zhi shook her head and asked, ”Should I know you?”

This time, Wang Shen finally realized that this was not a small matter. She had heard stories before that someone who injured their head could lose memories about everything.

Looking at the chubby woman, she must have lost her memories. She handed a bowl of medicine to her and said, ”Drink this medicine first. I will go find the physician for you.”

Seeing that she was leaving, Yao Zhi quickly called out, ”Wait!”

Turning around, Wang Shen asked, ”What’s wrong? Do you feel uncomfortable?”

Yao Zhi glanced at the dark concoction and finished it in a few gulps. The bitterness spread in her mouth, and she couldn’t help but cough.

After calming down, she said, ”Aunt, I’m fine. It’s just that my mind is confused, and I can’t remember a lot of things. Do you know who I am?”

When she heard this, Wang Shen hesitated for a moment before she sat on the wooden chair near the bedside. Reaching out, she held Yao Zhi’s chubby hand and asked, ”Girl, do you remember your name?”

Since she didn’t inherit any of the original owner’s memories, Yao Zhi didn’t dare to tell her real name. So, she shook her head and waited.

Thinking that she had lost all her memories, Wang Shen let out a sigh and looked at her with pity. ”Girl, your name is Yao Zhi. I don’t know much about you, but you came from the south to look for your fiancé.”

Hearing this, Yao Zhi let out a sigh of relief. Fortunately, the original owner had the same name as her. Otherwise, it would be hard for her to get used to the new name.

After a moment, she realized a piece of important information. ”Fiancé? Am I married?” Yao Zhi asked.

Wang Shen nodded and continued, ”You arrived in this place two months ago and married your fiancé not long after.”

As if she remembered something, she added, ”Your fiancé’s name is Fu Chen’an, and he was just promoted to squad leader last month. Both of you got married on the third day after you arrived.”

Hearing this, Yao Zhi frowned and asked again, ”Aunt, how is my relationship with my husband?”

When she heard this question, Wang Shen didn’t know how to answer.
