Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 991: Chapter 415: Faith Virus (Part 2)

At that time, there weren’t the titles of the three major Evil God Cults, and there were at least dozens of Evil God Cults that were well-known.

The Desolate Realm was made foul and murky by these Evil Gods, and almost every Dungeon had Evil God Cultists setting up rituals, seeking aid from deeper layers of the Abyss.

Ordinary players found it extremely difficult to retaliate against the suppression by Evil God Cultists.

Even though the Four Major Organizations in reality were continuously striking against the Evil God Cultists, once inside the Abyssal Game, they had no way to deal with these guys.

Gradually, the Evil God Cults expanded even more, even wanting to climb over the Four Major Organizations.

In order to tackle the increasingly rampant Evil God Cults, the Four Major Organizations developed the Faith Virus.

The Faith Virus is not a real virus, but a special ability for maintaining order. Within a game network, this ability should be called a report.

Speaking of which, Hou Jingchuan glanced meaningfully at Wu Chang, making Wu Chang wear a puzzled expression.

If it weren’t for the crowd, he would certainly ask, ”What are you looking at?”

What’s the meaning here, does he want to report him?

Hou Jingchuan gestured to his side and said:

”As for the principles of the Faith Virus, I’m not very clear myself; this part needs to be explained by Stone Wanderer.”

The Stone Wanderer mentioned by Hou Jingchuan is indeed Shi Ning, one of the highest-ranking officials from the Management Bureau in the Desolate Realm. Shi Ning also attended this meeting.

The reason for having Shi Ning explain is not only because he is a researcher but also one of the developers of the Faith Virus.

Shi Ning took over from Hou Jingchuan, saying:

”Regarding the fundamental existence of the Desolate Realm, Lord Peace should be extremely clear. The biggest difference between the Desolate Realm and the Realm of Reason lies in the limitation of Extraordinary Power.”

”In the Desolate Realm’s Dungeon, the application of Extraordinary Power is mostly not widespread; it is held by only a very few people.”

”Once someone attempts to spread the Extraordinary Power held by a few to the entire plane, turning it into a power that most people can grasp, a Plane Ascension will occur.”

Wu Chang nodded in agreement, as the owner of multiple Pillars of the Present World, he is very familiar with the mechanism of Plane Ascension.

To be precise, it is not the spread of Extraordinary Power; in many Dungeons, a Plane Ascension can occur as long as the existence of Extraordinary Power is accepted by most people.

Seeing Wu Chang understand, Shi Ning continued:

”Because there is a division between various layers of the Abyss, from the perspective of the Abyssal Game, interference and intervention by beings from the deeper layers of the Abyss on the Shallow Layer are considered violations.”

”These interventions from deep layers bring additional Abyssal Erosion, increasing the pollution value of the Dungeon.”

”As the pollution value of the Dungeon increases, it disrupts the original order within the Dungeon, pushing the world that should operate normally towards chaos.”

Shi Ning, worthy of being a professor, has a knack for teaching and lecturing. He paused for a minute here, giving the attendees time to react and think.

The existence of the Faith Virus is highly confidential, and it’s been discontinued for many years, longer than many players present have been playing the Abyssal Game.

Not to mention Wu Chang, even many high-ranking members of the Four Major Organizations only have a rough understanding of the Faith Virus, not deeply knowing it.

After giving time for thought, Shi Ning continued:

”For the Dungeon Plane, the existence of Evil God Cultists is akin to a virus intruding into the world from the outside, posing a great threat to the world’s development.”

”To deal with Evil God Cultists, one must address the Abyssal Erosion and pollution value they bring; to remove the virus known as Evil God Cultists, one must first activate the plane’s immunity.”

”Just like the body during a viral infection will proliferate immune cells specific to the virus, preventing its spread.”

”One function of the Faith Virus is to help the plane mark these beliefs from deep layers of the Abyss as viruses, stimulating changes within the plane to counter them.”

”When external Power of Faith contends with the order of the plane’s body, then the violations from the depths of the Abyss will be clearly marked. Then, invoking the report ability of the Faith Virus triggers the suppression force of the Abyssal Game.”

”The suppression force of the Abyssal Game follows the mark, punishing all game violators.”

Hou Jingchuan continued, saying:

”Back then, it was also in the World Dungeon that the Four Major Organizations abandoned that World Dungeon, using it as bait to lure Evil God Cultists in, and then deployed the Faith Virus within.”

”The Faith Virus nearly annihilated all Evil God Cultists that entered, and severely damaged their hidden Evil Gods, causing many Evil God Cults to be directly destroyed.”

”Later, we used the Faith Virus twice more, each time severely damaging many overstepping Evil God Cults.”

”Since then, the Believer Circle has become very restrained. Many Evil God Cults, even if they survived, could only linger on, not daring to appear openly.”

Wu Chang showed a thoughtful expression, listening to Hou Jingchuan’s implication that the Believer Circle’s languishment, only daring to act in darkness, always hiding from the Four Major Organizations, was because they suffered from the Faith Virus back then.

Especially the time in the World Dungeon, most Evil God Cults were severely damaged, even removed from the scene.

However, Hou Jingchuan didn’t say everything; given the modus operandi of the Peaceful Sect, Revelation, and Bliss Sect, it’s impossible that the Four Major Organizations never used the Faith Virus against them.

He looked toward the people from the Four Major Organizations, as they listened to Hou Jingchuan recounting how they dealt with Evil God Cultists, each face glowed with pride and excitement as if they themselves had created the Faith Virus.
