Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 839: Chapter 364: Steam Council (Part 3)

Xavier said somewhat distressingly:

”In normal procedure, it should be like this, but their actions were too fast, not giving us time to react, and as soon as they made a discovery, they released communication magic.”

”I didn’t have time to prepare, so I could only come directly. Your family has already seen me, to avoid being watched by some hound, they could only die.”

Baron Philip widened his eyes and shouted, ”Xavier, you...”

Before Baron Philip could finish, Xavier tapped his cane, depriving Baron Philip of the ability to speak.

He stood up, walked behind Philip’s youngest son, and said:

”Such a lovely child, just turned five and already possesses amazing mathematical talent. If it weren’t for today’s matter, you’d definitely become one of us in the future.”

”It’s a pity, Uncle didn’t bring any birthday gifts, can only give you a birthday candlelight.”

Xavier lifted his cane, writing mystical runes in the air, the runes fell on the cake, instantly transforming into brilliant candlelight.

However, this candlelight was too intense, shooting up to the ceiling, and in the blink of an eye igniting the entire dining room.

Xavier returned to face Baron Philip and made a gesture of tipping his hat, saying:

”Sir Philip, the Steam Council thanks you for your past contributions.”

The mystical flames engulfed the dining room, Wu Chang’s consciousness also detached from the grudge.

His gaze shifted from Baron Philip’s corpse, directly meeting Raventon’s observing eyes.

Raventon curiously asked:

”So, did the inspiration-type detective find anything?”

Wu Chang glanced at Raventon and said, ”I saw a mark on Baron Philip’s corpse.”

Raventon was taken aback upon hearing this, he hadn’t expected Wu Chang to truly be able to see something. He took out a magnifying glass, looked around Baron Philip to confirm he couldn’t see anything, then returned to Wu Chang’s side and asked:

”What did you see?”

Wu Chang briefly sketched out the mark on Xavier’s cane and asked, ”Do you know what this is?”

”The Steam Council, damn it, I should have thought of it earlier, this group of lunatics isn’t that easy to wipe out.” Raventon instinctively muttered.

Wu Chang asked, ”What is the Steam Council?”

Raventon urgently said, ”This isn’t the place to talk, let’s go back to mine to discuss.”

No evidence was left at the scene, Wu Chang had also looked through the grudge, staying any longer would be meaningless.

Raventon pulled Wu Chang away from Philip Villa, taking him and Erin back to No. 41 Salar Street.

Back at the detective agency, he activated a protective mystical ceremony, Raventon relaxed a bit, leading Wu Chang to the third floor of the detective agency.

After complex decryption, he opened a storage room, brought out disguised items, revealing a more complex evidence network than the second floor’s investigation into the Prime Minister’s assassination case.

The pattern at the center of the evidence network was exactly the mark Wu Chang saw on Xavier’s cane.

Wu Chang looked at the densely packed cases on the wall and asked, ”Have you investigated them before?”

Raventon grabbed a bottle of wine, poured himself a glass, had a sip, then bitterly smiled and said:

”Not only have I investigated them, I personally sent them to hell before.”

”The Steam Council is a bunch of utter lunatics, they’re obviously ordinary people, yet they’re not content with current circumstances and forcibly try to grasp extraordinary power.”

Raventon looked at the past investigation records on the wall, recalling information about the Steam Council.

The Steam Council initially was a club formed by mathematicians, physicists, and new aristocrats.

At that time, extraordinary power was still secret, neither the Alchemy Association nor the Clock Tower Magic Association had been established, they somehow found a book describing extraordinary power, and crazily pursued this power.

Members of the club had knowledge, wealth, and an incredibly strong ability to act. To obtain extraordinary power, they joined various organizations, including the Peace Church, to learn extraordinary knowledge.

Through their efforts, they actually found books on mysticism and alchemy.

The group kept researching and indeed learned mystical ceremonies, allowing them to use mystical ceremonies to activate the extraordinary power inherent in mystical items for their own use.

Afterwards, they became unstoppable, further researching mysticism while using alchemy to modify themselves, attempting to become true transcendents through external energy.

Though at the time they only operated on themselves, and given the rarity of mystical items, they didn’t cause much of an uproar.

Until five years ago, Her Majesty Olivia found the Secret Magic Knight Order’s former library, which contained many records of extraordinary power. She summoned top scholars from across Stilan to study how to integrate mechanics with the extraordinary.

It was this move that led to Stilan’s industrial leap in a short time, and Her Majesty Olivia regained some power through this as well.

But among the scholars involved in research at the time, besides ordinary scholars, were members of the Extraordinary Enthusiasts Club.

Seeing future prospects in the extraordinary industry planning, they officially founded the Steam Council.

Raventon pointed to a newspaper clipping about the major fire at Grimlan University library.

”They orchestrated a fire, stealing all the books documenting extraordinary power.”

He then pointed to several reports of workers dying from poisoning due to poor factory working conditions.

”One benefit of extraordinary industrialization is no longer relying on rare extraordinary items, leading them to experiment with using humans as machines, also conducting extraordinary industrial modifications.”

”They were very secretive, but I sniffed out the anomaly within, about three and a half years ago, I solved a big case and was free, so I started investigating these industrial poisoning cases.”

”Through my investigation, I found irregularities in the cause of death of those workers, not simply dying from poisoning.”

”Following the trail, I discovered these lunatics.”

Raventon pointed to several photos showing people with parts of their bodies replaced with bizarre steel prosthetics.

”Some of them had begun modifying their bodies, but the modifications were very crude, far inferior to true transcendents.”

”So I used Julie’s power, catching them all in one swoop during their routine gathering.”

”Every single one, I personally handled, ensuring these individuals were sent to hell.”

”In these subsequent years, I kept investigating them to ensure no remnants survived. During this period, they indeed disappeared, no longer appearing, so I thought they had completely vanished.”

”Unexpectedly, these lunatics not only still exist, but their actions are even more outrageous than in the past.”
