Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 821: Chapter 358: Open the Door, Freedom of Faith! (Part 3)

Before going out, she promised Wu Chang that she only wanted to see the source of everything clearly and would not affect Wu Chang’s actions.

But when she felt Gray’s desperate prayers through Thomas, she couldn’t help but take action.

She whispered, ”Sorry, I couldn’t keep my promise.”

Wu Chang shook his head and said, ”No need to apologize, you did well, not a problem at all.”

Look at other gods, Leman likes to toy with people’s hearts and live sacrifices; the Great Saint Mother employs any means to harvest faith, having initiated several holy wars; the Desire Mother Goddess follows desires, wanting to descend after holding a debaucherous party.

Compared to these gods, Erin’s love for saving people is completely normal. If she’s afraid to even save someone, it would be too wronged.

If they went to the Realm of Reason, with their current strength, perhaps they would need to endure.

But here is the Desolate Realm!

Even if Joy came, they’d get slapped twice, if Leman dared to come, he’d lose two eyeballs, even if the Master of the Deep Sea managed to build a Divine Kingdom, he’d be able to pierce through it.

The Steam Phantom Dungeon suspects the existence of a Plane Son? He fights that Plane Son!

Seeing Wu Chang’s firm attitude, Raventon said no more.

A few minutes later, Thomas returned with a serving of meat soup and a portion of oatmeal porridge, along with two pieces of bread.

Seeing Thomas return, Erin no longer lingered, stood up, and prepared to leave.

Wu Chang knew what Erin wanted to do, he said:

”Do whatever you want, go ahead, but keep track of time, we have things to do tonight.”

Tonight, they would go with Raventon to investigate the explosion case at Pine Tree Mine.

There will be plenty of time to save people in the future, don’t let it delay the business at hand.

Erin softly said, ”I will.”

She walked out of Thomas’s house and said to the slum residents kneeling outside:

”If your family has patients in need of treatment, please bring them here. If moving them is inconvenient, let me know, and I’ll find time to visit and treat them.”

The people kneeling outside were waiting for these words, and upon hearing Erin truly willing to help them, they immediately ran home, praising the Eternal Pure Light while bringing their patients here.

In the slum, everything is scarce, except two things.

Poverty and injuries.

Especially during the great malaria outbreak, nearly sixty percent of the slum residents had contracted malaria, with about 15% dying from malaria and its complications, like Gray.

Those who should have waited for death now saw the light of dawn.

Word spreads from one to ten, ten to a hundred.

A rumor about a Saint with miraculous healing abilities willing to treat the poor for free quickly spread across the slum.

Initially, people were skeptical, but once they witnessed Erin healing a patient, they’d become spreaders of the rumor.

In the battle for faith, nothing is more persuasive than a living Saint walking the world.

Even the most devout followers of the Holy Master and Holy Awakening Sect find their faith shaken after receiving Erin’s treatment.

Indeed, rumors say the Pope can communicate with the gods, and the Indulgence he makes allows followers to ascend to the Celestial Kingdom after death.

The Archbishop of the Holy Awakening Sect, known to be near divine, was granted Extraordinary Abilities by God.

No one doubts the Pope and Archbishop possess supernatural powers, but the problem is, these big figures are unwilling to enter the slum or even spare it a glance. ℴ

All at once, faith within the slum converged towards Erin.

On the open space in front of Thomas’s house, Wu Chang even saw a small sapling sprouting from the ground.

It was a sign of faith within the current plane accumulating to a certain extent, beginning to condense a Pillar of the Divine Kingdom.

He was curious; if he built a Divine Kingdom within the Dungeon Plane, would the Plane Rules within its coverage still be influenced by the Power of Root from the Plane Son?

As Erin’s rumors quickly spread across the slum, they naturally also reached the ears of the Holy Awakening Sect swiftly.

By the third hour after treatment began, Wu Chang sensed a large number of Secret Police and religious Knights converging on the slum.

He took out the Lake Light Holy Sword and hung it at his waist, approaching, surprised to find the person leading them was Julie herself.

Before they entered the slum, previously treated and recovering residents spontaneously blocked the entrance to the slum.

They said nothing, only silently watching the Secret Police and religious Knights, but the tension in the air was palpable.

A slight misstep could trigger a large-scale bloody conflict.

Julie, seeing the rows of emaciated human walls blocking the slum entrance, showed surprise in her eyes and ordered her team to withdraw from the slum’s boundary and await orders.

She then used Extraordinary Abilities to enter the slum through a side path, arriving at Thomas’s house to personally witness Erin’s actions.

After seeing Erin’s actions, Julie’s expression became complicated, she turned her head to look at Wu Chang beside her, asking in a slightly confused tone:

”Does this really matter?”

Wu Chang retorted, ”What do you think?”

”I think this can only change things temporarily,” Julie said.

Wu Chang nodded and said, ”I think so too, but it’s already the biggest change she can make for these people.”

”You can’t choose to stand still just because you can’t find the perfect, most thorough solution. Even the smallest change is better than standing still.”

Julie seemed to have gained insight and said, ”Is this the solution you’ve chosen?”

Wu Chang nodded and said, ”Yes.”

Julie said, ”I understand. If you keep your actions outside of Grimland’s core area, I can think of ways to help you over on the queen’s side.”

Wu Chang raised his eyebrows, thinking he’d have to mention Kristen for a peaceful resolution of today’s ’religious conflict,’ surprised that Julie was more accommodating than he’d expected.

Seeing Julie preparing to leave, he called out to her, asking:

”What about you, have you found the solution you want?”

Julie’s body paused for a moment, saying expressionlessly, ”I need to think more.”

With Julie’s approval, the subsequent treatment process went extremely smoothly.

As dusk fell, Raventon found Wu Chang and said:

”We should go now, there’s still a way to Pine Tree Mine, we’ll be late if we don’t leave soon.”

Wu Chang was about to call Erin when Thomas suddenly interjected:

”Sir, I just heard you say you’re going to Pine Tree Mine, right?”

”I’m a miner there, I’m familiar with every shaft in the mine, and I know a lot of insider information about the mine too, if you’re dealing with things near the Pine Tree Mine, maybe I can help.”
