Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 807: Chapter 354: The Queen’s Favor

”What are the benefits?” Wu Chang’s eyes shone, even brighter than when he activated the Lake Light Holy Sword.

As the leader of the Secret Magic Knight Order and a noble personally conferred by Her Majesty the Queen, the benefits can’t possibly be too poor.

Looking at Wu Chang’s expectant gaze, Julie chuckled softly, and from behind, she retrieved two small suitcases, handing them to Wu Chang.

One suitcase was light, the other heavy. Wu Chang first opened the lighter suitcase, inside was a beautifully crafted metal key and below it, a property deed.

Julie said, ”In Grimland, of course we can’t let our Knight Order Leader, the Queen’s Sword, and his wife stay at a hotel.”

”This villa once belonged to a baron, whose properties once spread throughout Stilan, but unfortunately, his family declined later, and he sold it to the Church.”

”Although he was newly noble, perhaps lacking in taste, the house is certainly comfortable and luxurious enough.”

Wu Chang looked at Julie in surprise, asking, ”Does the Church also dabble in real estate?”

Julie nodded slightly, and said:

”Grimland is the world’s economic center, where immense wealth gathers. No one can remain indifferent to such wealth flowing right in front of them.”

Wu Chang probed, ”Including the Queen?”

Julie’s expression froze for a moment. She sighed and said:

”Previously at the Moonlight Sanatorium, your intuition was just as sharp.”

The Holy Awakening Sect is a product divorced from the Church, though it’s a branch of Revelation, what it offers up is faith, not wealth.

Julie seems to hold great power, managing the Holy Awakening Sect, but the real leader of the Church is still Olivia.

Olivia conferred him as the Secret Magic Knight Order Leader, yet the state-allocated housing comes from the Church’s property, because the entire Church is the Queen’s estate.

Wu Chang glanced at the villa’s location, situated in Grimland West District, far from the heavily industrially polluted East District.

He was quite satisfied with the Queen’s arrangement and then opened the second suitcase.

Compared to the first suitcase, the second contained much simpler and more direct items.

A stack of brand-new bills, each with a denomination of one hundred pounds, based on its thickness, it should total ten thousand pounds.

Though the figure seems not much, the pound is Stilan’s highest currency, directly pegged to gold.

A coal miner’s monthly salary is around 2 to 4 pounds, and the average life expectancy is less than fifty years.

Ten thousand pounds is an enormous sum that many workers couldn’t earn in ten lifetimes.

The garden villa Olivia just gave Wu Chang was priced at only five thousand pounds.

Her Majesty the Queen gave both the Holy Sword and a luxurious villa along with a huge sum of money.

Could she be trying to set some unwritten rule? He’s a family man returning to Stilan, how inappropriate.

Wu Chang’s face showed difficulty. After investing so much money, was it a bit too much not to let her bend the rules a little?

He placed the money from the suitcase into his personal space and then asked in confusion, ”What is this money for?”

Julie said, ”Your operational funds.”

”Rebuilding the Secret Magic Knight Order, whether recruiting, training, or paying salaries, requires money. This amount is just the initial funding; if it’s not enough, you can come to me for more.”

Wu Chang showed a look of bewilderment.

Money, what money? Recruiting Secret Magic Knights still requires spending money on them?

Among the Secret Magic Knights he had his eyes on, firstly, there were natives like those in Raventon, the small group that yearned to restore the glory of their ancestors.

None of them were short on money, no need for him to pay salaries.

He wasn’t hiring them, but giving them a chance to achieve fame and success.

The second recruitment target was the Abyssal Game Players.

As long as they joined his forces, this time the dungeon would have a surefire victory in the side quest.

Whether it’s the first or second, it’s great if he doesn’t charge them entry fees, let alone pay them money.

This truly turns things upside down.

Seeing the confusion on Wu Chang’s face, Julie thought Wu Chang lacked experience, and said:

”Supporting a large organization is not the same as running a solo office in the New World like you did before, expenses will be incurred in every aspect, you’ll understand when you encounter it.”

”Once you’ve built a basic team, I’ll help you find a property to serve as the base for the Secret Magic Knight Order.”

”With the problem of money and the base solved, the next step is recruitment.”

Wu Chang said, ”I’ll keep an eye on the recruitment matter.”

Julie shook her head, saying: ”Don’t overreach yourself. You’ve just returned to Stilan, not even for a day, how can you keep an eye on it?”

”Although Her Majesty the Queen gave you the authority to recruit members, not just anyone can qualify to become a Secret Magic Knight.”

”Pay more attention to Raventon; there are many behind him in similar situations. You can try to contact them more frequently, but whether you can win them over depends on your charisma and the conditions you can offer.”

”Besides them, with the World Industrial Exposition coming, the Queen has declared that the exposition will showcase the brightest jewel on the Industrial Crown, a steam engine with extraordinary power.”

”To witness industrial extraordinary transformation, Transcendents from around the world are flocking to Grimland, this is a good opportunity for recruitment.”

”I’ve organized an extraordinary gathering in collaboration with the Alchemy Association and the Clock Tower Magic Association, scheduled for 8 PM three days from now.”

As Julie spoke, she took out four gilt invitations.

Wu Chang took the invitations and glanced at them, noticing the mystical runes that verified authenticity.

Listening to Julie, it seemed Stilan had developed a steam engine involving the Extraordinary Domain, as the highlight of the World Industrial Exposition, and announced intentions to lead industry into extraordinary transformation.
