Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 837: Chapter 364: Steam Council

Brian, who was disguised as a Secret Police, died in an unnoticed alley, not at the climax of the foggy night, but merely as an insignificant prelude.

Today marks the end of the second day for the players in the Steam Phantom Plane.

In the Abyssal Game, there’s a common understanding that the first day inside a dungeon is usually the most dangerous time.

Almost half of the players who die in a dungeon do so on the first day.

To avoid initial-kill traps, the vast majority of players are very restrained on the first day, trying not to do anything that could lead to danger.

For example, players who are vying for the invitation will immediately choose to abandon the fight even if they see Secret Police approaching in fewer numbers.

At the end of the second day in dungeon time, players have generally understood the situation of the plane they are in and realized their own circumstances.

The faster-progressing players have even tested the tolerance of Grimland’s authorities.

This means everyone can stop pretending and let loose to some extent.

Regarding the fight for invitations, what was a simple touch-and-go on the first day has already become heated today.

The Grimland Bridge, with its main body consisting of two stone spired towers and a hydraulically operated opening bridge deck in the middle.

The bridge spans the entire Hills River, a landmark structure of both Grimland and Stilan.

Right now, a melee is unfolding on the bridge, with over fifteen players involved, at least six of whom rank in the top fifty in combat strength.

One side of the fight is the group of five who successfully stole the invitation last night.

They do not belong to the Four Major Organizations, but are an alliance of two first-rate forces, and by quickly gathering with no suspicion among themselves, they’ve succeeded frequently since yesterday.

Between last night and today, they have obtained at least three invitations.

However, there are still two days until the Extraordinary Gathering begins.

It’s like sitting at a gambling table; it doesn’t matter how much you win at the start, the skill is in how much you can take away when the game ends.

Among the onlookers watching the group of five rob last night, today part of them have transformed into one of the sides in the bridge skirmish.

The fight has lasted for fifteen minutes, and at least three players have been seriously injured during the battle, forcing them to use an Item to prematurely exit the dungeon.

The players’ battle draws the attention of countless eyes behind the fog.

Some of these eyes belong to other players, while others belong to the original inhabitants of the dungeon.

On the north side tower of Grimland Bridge, Sword Star and Cold Mountain are standing at the tower top, looking down at the battle below.

They are not here to compete for the invitation. Not only do they not compete for it, but to attract enough heavyweight players, Cold Mountain even used an invitation Wu Chang gave him as bait, guiding the battle venue to Grimland Bridge.

The field here is wide, and the Secret Police find it hard to interfere, allowing players to perform freely.

The more they perform, the more information is revealed, and the more intelligence can be gathered.

In the Abyssal Game, intelligence not related to the main story of the dungeon is still valuable information; knowing who the participating players are, their strength, and their abilities are all precious intelligence.

Conquering the dungeon is just one part; if you only focus on the dungeon and don’t see the other players eyeing you like a hawk, you won’t go far in the Abyss.

Cold Mountain looks at the mist in the sky and sighs:

”An S-Level dungeon on the brink of losing control is indeed different from the S-Level dungeons I’ve entered before. Under the influence of Abyssal corruption, significant changes happen here at any time.”

”Just two or three hours ago, the plane was stable, and in the blink of an eye, the Power of Root started to erode the plane.”

”Under the influence of the Power of Root, all abilities not native to this plane will be suppressed.”

Sword Star asks, perplexed: ”My abilities differ a lot from the systems here, so why don’t I feel suppressed?”

Cold Mountain exhales a breath, freezing the approaching mist into ice crystals, then says:

”Because the effect of the Power of Root on the Plane Rules is not yet significant. Your Reincarnation as a Sword Cultivator is a Realm of Reason level Reincarnation that directly connects to the Rules, inherently reflecting the Power of Root.”

”This level of influence is still very limited for us.”

”When the Power of Root of the Plane Son grows further, enough to completely overshadow us, even we will be affected.”

Sword Star is about to respond when he suddenly senses something and narrows his eyes.

Someone has come up on the other side of the bridge tower they are on.

The figure is cloaked in a large Black Robe, making it impossible to determine gender or build; simply standing there, they emit an aura of danger and gloom.

From the visitor’s demeanor and attire, they don’t appear to be a player but an original inhabitant of the dungeon.

As Sword Star notices the newcomer, Cold Mountain also takes note of the new audience member.

The forces hosting the Extraordinary Gathering are those visible on the surface of Grimland; they are not the entirety of the dungeon forces.

Some forces lurking in the shadows, unseen by the light, also wish to seize this opportunity to recruit talents.

Unable to operate as leisurely as the hosts of the Gathering, they must personally be on site to confirm their recruitment targets.

The new audience member not far from them is most likely an individual from the hidden forces.

Sword Star softly asks, ”Should we make contact with them?”

Cold Mountain thinks for a moment and says, ”Better to be cautious; see if we can gather any intelligence on them.”

After a brief discussion, people from the Management Bureau who entered the Steam Phantom have already decided to join the Secret Magic Knight Order with which Peace is affiliated.

Though they haven’t yet discovered much about the Secret Magic Knight Order, they trust Peace’s judgment.
