Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 836: Chapter 363: Killer in the Mist (Part 3)

He exhaled a breath, white mist puffing out, and said:

”It’s not your illusion, the weather is changing.”

Grimland outskirts, factory district.

Two officers in thick wool coats, iron helmets, and holding cow eye lamps were rushing through the foggy alley.

”Brian, you go patrol the east side, signal if there’s any situation.”

”Lately these days, the group of foreign Transcendents seems to have gone mad. Don’t hold back when you meet them.”

”Understood!”

The two officers split up, and the officer named Brian tightened his wool coat, shivering.

He looked up at the sky, the moonlight completely obscured by the fog, standing on the ground, unable to see even the moon’s outline.

He hated this kind of weather; without moonlight, his Endurance Attribute would decrease.

In the Steam Phantom Plane, his identity is Brian. Besides, he also has another identity, namely, the foreign Transcendent referred to by his colleague.

He comes from the Western Union of the Four Major Organizations; being able to rank into the S-Level dungeon is enough proof of his strength. In the Desolate Realm player combat power ranking, he has always been in the top fifty Gatekeepers.

From a combat power perspective, he isn’t the top-tier, but he is certainly among the most troublesome.

The reason is simple; apart from the standard Hidden Class among ranked players, he possesses a very rare bloodline in the Desolate Realm.

Moreover, the Hidden Class Blood Manipulator can form synergy with his Blood Race bloodline, granting him life force beyond normal players.

When faced with danger, he can disperse his body into countless blood cells to flee.

As long as one group remains safe, he can infiltrate the Plane’s natives’ body with blood and resurrect by taking over their bodies.

In the Abyssal Game, survival skills are always the most favored Ability; only by staying alive is there a future.

Furthermore, the synergy between these two abilities makes his attack power not inferior to players beyond the top fifty, despite not matching players of the same Level.

With notable offensive capability paired with strong survival instincts, he received an S-Level potential evaluation in the Western Union, being highly anticipated in this World Dungeon.

However, he did not expect to undergo an S-Level dungeon before entering the World Dungeon.

Brian’s legendary Endurance King’s physique makes his dungeon exploration aggressive. Acting with him could lead to being implicated and by the troubles he courts.

This makes Western Union players steer clear of him, and he enjoys the solitude, preferring to operate alone.

But this time is different, even with his confidence, he dares not act alone in the S-Level dungeon.

Thus, at this moment, Brian, separated from the group, urgently needs to find other Western Union players to team up and explore the dungeon.

It’s the second day in the dungeon now, though he hasn’t found companions yet, he has successfully infiltrated the Dungeon Plane.

With the racial Talent of the Blood Race, he possesses a noble aura paired with the passive ability of the Blood Manipulator, easily winning favor among the Plane’s natives.

Recently, Grimland’s law enforcement issues have worsened; the police department needed to expand recruitment, and he successfully got hired, not only becoming an officer but also a Secret Police specifically targeting Transcendents.

In his experience, his current starting point has already surpassed 80% of the dungeon’s players.

Other players are still diligently making money, laboring for Shelter, wandering dirty pubs at the bottom level to gather information.

He’s already residing in the Secret Police benefits dorm, openly reviewing all sorts of secret intelligence.

With his Secret Police identity, achieving some accomplishments naturally paves from joining other forces.

This highlights the disparity among people; while some are still toiling, he’s already in Rome.

He has stepped onto the right path, and the next step is to find companions.

Currently, he’s planning to head to the slums,

Today, he heard colleagues at the department mention that a peculiar Transcendent has appeared in the slums, treating residents’ illnesses voluntarily.

This information immediately grabbed his attention.

This kind of odd character is either a player or involved with some force, perhaps linked to some hidden quest.

In any case, he has reasons to investigate it.

The fog is growing denser; the damp, cold mist covering him makes him quite uncomfortable, even causing his blood flow to slow down.

Click.

Click.

Click, click.

In the fog, originally there was only his footsteps, but gradually, the footstep sounds multiplied into two.

The footsteps became clearer, seeming that something is approaching him.

Whether it’s some oblivious native or an Abyssal Game player.

He raised the gun, shouted: ”Stop, who are you!”

The gun in his hand was just a disguise; while shouting, blood streamed from his fingertips, transforming into thin, sharp blood lines in the air.

He’s not a native of the Plane, unlike other Secret Police who can injure Transcendents with special bullets; he doesn’t need such methods.

The footsteps did not pause due to his shout, but continuously approached him.

A few seconds later, a tall figure entirely enveloped in a Black Robe appeared before him.

This strange outfit greatly resembles a player.

He asked aloud: ”Who are you?”

The big man seemed unable to understand him, a massive serrated long knife hanging down from the wide robe sleeve.

The giant raised the serrated long knife, running towards him.

Brian furrowed his brow, sensing something amiss, swinging the blood lines to try to obstruct the opponent’s movements.

Unexpectedly, the giant slashed down without using any Skills, directly shattering Brian’s blood lines.

”Naive.”

Brian wanted to manipulate the fragmented blood to launch a four-directional attack at the giant, only to find the blood clashing with the mist, beyond his control, as if his Skills failed.

He had never encountered such a situation; in his split-second hesitation, the giant was already upon him, slashing down.

The serrated crude blade cut through his officer coat as well as his chest.

Based on previous combat experiences, he could use his Blood Manipulator ability to prevent the wound from bleeding, and suture it with blood lines, then use the Blood Race’s tremendous recovery power to instantly heal.

But this time, the wound severed by the serrated long knife wouldn’t heed his control, not only not healing but the blood flowing out completely losing control like the preceding blood lines.

When the legendary Endurance King lost his proud Life Force, panic surged in.

Brian wished to disengage, pooling blood in his legs, jumping backward with force, planning to escape the giant with speed.

Yet, upon leaping five meters, he saw the giant’s robe reveal a hefty cannon barrel extending from inside.

Bang!

In the roar, the cannon shot crushed Brian’s left leg, sending him limping to the ground.

Before he could get up, he saw the giant wielding two serrated long knives pouncing toward him.

”Ah!”

The vast robe engulfed Brian, beneath the robe emanated sounds of blades slicing flesh, chewing sounds, and similar to gears, clear metallic clashes.

A minute later, as the giant rose and departed, only a corpse of a Secret Police officer remained on site, with hollowed interior and eyes, a gaping chest.
