Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 244: Chapter 169: Shipwreck Belt and Hidden Side Quest

The energy reaction of the battle initially came only from the lower deck, but soon the sounds of combat echoed throughout the ship.

Wu Chang led his people out and saw that at some unknown time, a group of mummy-like corpses had appeared on the ship.

They looked like mummies with their bandages removed, with all the blood drained from their bodies, their skin turning purple, and completely devoid of moisture, even their eyeballs had shriveled into dried meat.

They couldn’t see but could sense their surroundings through other methods, accurately finding those who boarded the ship and launching an attack on them.

The corpses were emaciated but moved rapidly, possessed great power, and on the Sea Song, they seemed to defy gravity, running freely on the walls and ceilings.

A multitude of corpses surged from all directions, running along different paths, and quickly surrounded those who boarded the ship.

As Wu Chang emerged, he just caught sight of five or six mummies moving in a serpentine pattern along the walls and ceiling, chasing after Li Yubin and her group.

Judging by their speed, the attribute values of these corpses were no weaker than a level 25 player, and in terms of individual strength, they were not inferior to a Cyan Dragon in their normal state.

Having just entered the dungeon, players were in a semi-hostile relationship with each other, and none wanted to reveal too many of their cards.

Two players who were by Li Yubin’s side engaged in combat using only fists and firearms. Neither of them specialized in agility, putting them at a disadvantage against the swiftly moving corpses, and their firearms couldn’t penetrate the mummified skin of the corpses, so they could only protect Li Yubin while fighting and retreating.

In contrast, Li Yubin demonstrated combat strength far surpassing the two players who were holding back.

At this moment, she tied her shoulder-length hair into a ponytail with a hairband and wielded a fire axe she found in the corridor, hacking away at the corpses.

From her actions and accuracy, it was clear Li Yubin hadn’t trained before, her movements lacked any form, relying purely on her physical strength to swing the axe.

The copper skin and iron bones that players found hard to break through were like a layer of inferior thin iron under her fire axe.

As long as she hit them, the entire axe blade would embed into their bodies.

If she knew even a few moves, perhaps just three axe strikes, she could have killed these few corpses by herself.

Wu Chang could feel that Li Yubin had a Qi similar to a Cyan Dragon within her, and what surprised him even more was that as the fight went on, the quantity and quality of Qi within her were rapidly approaching that of a Cyan Dragon.

Is this the quality of an A-Level near uncontrollable dungeon, where even a random NPC can fight so well?

Wu Chang did not hesitate and signaled the Four Great Vajra and Sword Star to go up and help.

Because of the Ghost Wall during the day, the New Cosmos Sect had control over eighty percent of the passengers on the ship, leaving very few normal people. Someone like Li Yubin, who had potential and combat strength, had to be protected.

With Wu Chang and his group’s joining, the battle quickly became one-sided. The players needed to hold back, the Four Great Vajra did not.

In less than a minute, the heads of several corpses were smashed, leaving them motionless.

Seeing that no more corpses were appearing, Wu Chang asked, ”Where did these monsters come from?”

Out of gratitude for helping clear the way, Li Yubin uncharacteristically gave Wu Chang a good look and said:

”We went to the cockpit to investigate what was piloting the Sea Song earlier. Entering the cockpit, we found these corpses standing motionless inside. As soon as they sensed our presence, they came alive and attacked us.”

The cockpit.

Wu Chang approached and examined the corpses. The clothes on the corpses had been stained black with blood and dust, making it impossible to discern their original appearance.

After carefully distinguishing for a while, he noticed that they were wearing crew uniforms.

One particular corpse differed from the rest; it had a few front teeth broken.

A ship’s crew, broken teeth, and corpses matched the first mate of the Sea Song he had seen in the resentful memories.

Could the monsters appearing on the ship be the rebels who were driven to kill each other back then?

No, that’s not right.

Wu Chang shook his head. He did not feel a significant amount of Mystical Energy from the corpses, but when the battle initially occurred, he sensed a substantial amount of Mystical Energy from the lower deck.

”Let’s go down!”

Could the mastermind on the Sea Song still be on board? Wu Chang’s expression changed, and he immediately called upon his team to head to the lower cargo hold.

Li Yubin was utterly confused, not knowing what had driven Wu Chang crazy, but seeing the look on his face suggesting he discovered something, she also followed towards the lower cargo hold.

The others who boarded the ship were either being chased by corpses or searching the ship for clues, looking for the communication device mentioned by the captain, with few approaching the cargo hold.

This made the floor where the cargo hold was located exceptionally quiet.

But this kind of silence was particularly problematic, based on the energy fluctuations he felt earlier, there should be fierce fighting in the cargo hold with no quick resolution.

If one side intended to quickly overpower the other and exerted full force, he would undoubtedly sense the energy fluctuations.

Sure enough, upon reaching the end of the cargo hold, he saw, through his eyes corrupted by Mysticism, a barrier woven from Mystical Energy before him.

Someone used a Mystical Ceremony to isolate the situation inside, and judging by the form of Mystical Energy, the people inside were from the New Cosmos Sect.

Although he didn’t know what was happening inside, whatever the New Cosmos Sect intended to do, his instinct was to disrupt it.
