The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2289: Chapter 2289: Dispersed (35)

”Didn’t you all see it just now? Those cotton shoes, are those even wearable?” Luo Qiaoqiao scoffed, ”Even if someone has just a little bit of skill with needle and thread, they wouldn’t let their son go out wearing shoes like that, right?” She paused, ”Actually, it’s not just him. I’ve seen his dad, Ma Qiang, in the village too, and his clothes and shoes aren’t much better. It’s clear how lazy the woman in their house must be.”

”Having such a mother-in-law is really...” Luo Da shook his head, ”No wonder he’s this old and still not married.”

”He and Yang Baihe actually make a good match,” Luo Er suddenly laughed slyly, ”But it’s such a waste for that kid.”

”Alright, let’s not talk about him anymore,” Luo Qiaoqiao waved her hand, ”Everyone’s gone to the old house to help madam, so now it’s probably just the Third Miss and a few others at home. I’ll go check if they need help. You all just stay here, and call out if you need anything. The two boys next door can hear.”

”Go on, we’re not kids,” Luo Da waved his hand.

Luo Qiaoqiao picked up a basket and went out the door.

The funeral procession, with much pomp and fanfare, left the village heading towards Xiaocang Mountain.

In this village, after people pass away, they are mostly buried around Xiaocang Mountain, and the family plots are all quite close to each other.

The Yang Family’s ancestral grave is centrally located among all the graves, near the edge of a small grove. At this time, villagers who had arrived earlier were already helping dig the grave, and the tombstone, set yesterday, had already been inscribed and delivered overnight.

Yang Peili walked to the edge of the pit, glanced down, and then instructed people to place the offerings they brought next to it. He himself lit a stack of yellow paper money, and when the flames rose, he tossed it into the pit, muttering, ”Rest easy in your new home, you can go in peace.” Then, he poured a bottle of wine onto the ground and waved his hand.

A few young men lifted the coffin again and slowly lowered it into the grave.

Once the coffin was settled, they pulled out the ropes and poles. Feng Caie cried out ”Mother,” and then there was the sound of horns and trumpets. Yang Peili took a shovel and threw a spadeful of dirt onto the coffin, ”Old woman, you can go now, whatever you’ve done, good or bad, let it all be buried, let it all go with this yellow earth.”

Then the surrounding people began to help, and very soon the coffin was buried, and a mound was raised over it, with the tombstone standing in front of the mound.

After placing the snacks and offerings they brought with them, lighting incense, and burning paper money, the filial children and grandchildren kowtowed one by one, marking the end of the funeral. Next, they returned home to entertain those who had helped.

As everyone took turns kowtowing, they realized that Yang Baihui’s husband and two sons hadn’t come, and Yang Ruban was also absent.

”Where did that kid go?” Feng Caie anxiously asked Yang Rusong, ”Didn’t I just see him following you earlier?”

”How should I know where he went?” Yang Rusong looked at Feng Caie indifferently.

Feng Caie opened her mouth, then sighed, ”They’re all here to collect debts.”

Dong Wenxiu glanced at Yang Ruxin.

”That kid didn’t follow us over this morning,” Yang Ruxin whispered into Dong Wenxiu’s ear, ”He’s been out for a while. Don’t bother with him. That kid’s been led astray by the folks at the Yang Family’s old house, and he can’t straighten up anymore.”

”What a pity for such a young man,” Dong Wenxiu sighed, ”It’s really a sin.”
