The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2287: Chapter 2287: Uncle Ma (33)

”It’s cold outside, remember to put on your padded jacket,” Luo Er reminded from behind.

Luo Qiaoqiao draped the thick jacket over herself and pushed open the door to leave.

”Big sister, we’re back.”

As soon as Luo Qiaoqiao entered the yard, she saw her two younger brothers pushing open the courtyard gate. Just as she was about to speak, a tall man carrying water walked in, causing her to furrow her brows slightly.

”Where’s the water tank?” Ma Laiwang glanced at Luo Qiaoqiao before looking away.

”In the kitchen.” Luo Qiaoqiao quickly regained her composure and hurried over to push the kitchen door open.

Ma Laiwang poured the water from the bucket inside, and the once half-full tank was now full, so he set the bucket down. ”I’m leaving.”

”Uncle Ma, your shoes are all wet. Warm yourself by the fire before you go,” Luo Xiaoxin stopped Ma Laiwang. ”Otherwise, in such cold weather, your feet will get damaged.”

”No need.”

”What happened?” Luo Qiaoqiao looked at her brothers.

”We went to fetch water, and the bucket fell into the river. It was Big Brother Ma who helped us fish it out, and his feet stepped into the water,” Luo Xiaomao quickly explained what happened.

Luo Qiaoqiao looked down and saw Ma Laiwang’s shoes, wet and shabby, with a hole in the front exposing the cotton.

Ma Laiwang awkwardly stepped back. ”I’m fine, I’m leaving.”

”If you go back like this, your feet will indeed get damaged,” Luo Qiaoqiao sighed. ”Come inside, there’s a stove. Take off your shoes and soak your feet in hot water.”

”No...”

But before Ma Laiwang could refuse, Luo Qiaoqiao had already turned and entered the house.

”Come on,” Luo Xiaomao and Luo Xiaoxin pulled him into the house.

Inside, Luo Qiaoqiao had already explained the situation to Luo Da and Luo Er. So, when Ma Laiwang came in, the two of them smiled and nodded, ”Quick, sit down and have some hot soup to warm up.”

Luo Qiaoqiao had already ladled a bowl of bone soup and handed it over.

”Be careful, it’s hot,” Luo Qiaoqiao reminded, then took the soup pot away and placed the kettle on the stove.

By this time, Luo Xiaomao had already brought in the foot basin. ”Once the water boils, soak your feet.”

Ma Laiwang felt a bit emotional. He had only offered a small help, but received such warm hospitality in return. The feeling here was more comforting than his own home, yet he still shook his head, ”No need, I’ll just warm by the fire.”

”How could that be enough?” Luo Er shook his head. ”Don’t feel embarrassed; we used to be worse off than you.”

Luo Da also nodded, ”Indeed, we’re all just peasants. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about.”

”Aren’t you relatives of the Yang Family? How come...”

”What relatives?” Luo Da laughed and shook his head, ”We were complete strangers to the Yang Family. It was madam’s kind heart that saved us...”

”Madam is a good person. Without her, our family would probably have perished long ago,” Luo Er added with a smile. ”Now, we’re both disabled, but madam still doesn’t despise us, even provides money and medicine. Look, this stove here, they say even the city’s Prince doesn’t necessarily have one like it.”

Ma Laiwang was a bit shocked at what he heard. So that’s how it is.

”Quick, take off your shoes and warm up. Us farmers need to keep our bodies healthy, after all,” Luo Er gestured.

Luo Xiaoxin had already poured the hot water into the basin.

It was only then that Ma Laiwang steeled himself, took off his shoes, and placed them by the stove.
