The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2284: Chapter 2284: Unfilial Son (30)

”Baihe.” Ma Laiwang’s face darkened, ”Do you know what you’re saying?”

Yang Baihe shrank her neck.

”Our marriage was arranged by your father and my father, your family has accepted the betrothal gifts, and now you say you won’t marry, just like that?” Ma Laiwang glared at Yang Baihe, ”I know you’re unwilling, and I’m unwilling too, but our families’ situations are like this, no matter how unwilling we are, we have to bear it.”

”Why?” Yang Baihe retorted with bravado, glaring back at Ma Laiwang, ”I’m unwilling, I have the fate of prosperity, why should I marry you? You’re like a toad wanting to eat swan meat!”

”Is that prosperous fate really yours?” Ma Laiwang sighed, ”Yang Baihe, if you truly have a prosperous fate, I won’t force you, even if you could get Yang Ruxin to recognize you, I wouldn’t marry you, but can you?”

Yang Baihe swallowed, then suddenly opened her mouth and started crying, eventually sitting on the ground and wailing.

Ma Laiwang was startled, but he didn’t leave or try to console her. He just let her cry on the ground, although he was deeply conflicted inside. In reality, this woman was both greedy and lazy, even if she were willing, would marrying her really be good? She’s just like his mother, life really couldn’t be good like that, could it?

While Ma Laiwang was still conflicted, Yang Baihe had already gotten up on her own, unable to stand the cold ground that made her bottom uncomfortably numb. Fortunately, she had brought a handkerchief, took it out, and wiped her pancake-shaped face: ”The ground is too cold, I won’t cry anymore. But Ma Laiwang, I’m telling you, I will definitely live a prosperous life, I am Yang Ruxin’s aunt, she must recognize me, I will definitely marry into Beijing, I will wear gold and silver with servants in throngs, so you, a mud-legged man, should just give up hope.” After saying that, she turned and left. Because she was wearing mourning clothes, sitting on the ground earlier had left a black patch of dirt on her bottom that was particularly conspicuous on the white fabric.

Ma Laiwang sighed, turning to go home, but stopped at the door feeling his legs weighed a thousand pounds. He really didn’t want to go back to that house, but if he didn’t go in, where else could he go?

As expected, upon entering, he saw his mother, Zhai Shi, leaning on the edge of the bunk eating sunflower seeds. They were still from the last time she grabbed some from Yang Ruxin, too reluctant to finish them all at once, leaving seed shells all over the bed and floor.

”Why are you back?” Zhai Shi glanced at her son, ”Weren’t you helping out at the old Yang Family’s place? Why come back without having lunch?”

”It’s fine with just dad helping.” Ma Laiwang frowned, looking at Zhai Shi, ”Mom, it’s almost New Year, let’s clean up the house and wash the bedding, it hasn’t been washed in years...”

”If you want it washed, you wash it. It’s too cold for me to do it.” Zhai Shi rolled her eyes at her son, then clapped her hands, burrowed into the dark quilt, and closed her eyes.

”Mom!”

As a result, Zhai Shi just covered her head with the quilt.

Ma Laiwang closed his eyes briefly, opened them again, and suddenly reached out to yank off the dark quilt.

”You ungrateful boy, what are you doing?” Zhai Shi cried out in alarm, ”Are you trying to kill your own mother? You unfilial son, there’s nothing to live for...”

”Mom!” Ma Laiwang suddenly shouted.

Zhai Shi’s wailing got stuck in her throat, and she looked at her son in horror.

”Do you really want to see your son stay single all his life?” Ma Laiwang growled, ”Look at this home of ours, is this even a home?”
