The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1341: Chapter 1341: Dong Family Member (1)

The day after breakfast, all of the Dong Family members who had received the message arrived. Even though the Dong Family’s front hall was relatively spacious, it couldn’t accommodate so many people. Therefore, only those who were in charge entered the house, while the rest waited in the courtyard.

Yang Ruxin, being an outsider by marriage, theoretically shouldn’t have participated in the Dong Family’s family affairs. However, Dong Wenxiu insisted on having her daughter accompany her, so she followed along and also waited in the courtyard, accompanied only by Huang Family and Yu Qingge accompanied by Du Man and others, who waited outside the courtyard gate.

Observing so many people, Yang Ruxin couldn’t help but be amazed at how prosperous the Dong Family was.

From the Huang Family, there was a diligent introduction in the ears of Dong Wenxiu and Yang Ruxin about the Dong Family members present.

It was said that among their clan, there were two eldest clan elders. One was Dong Xun’s grand uncle from the Dong Family, now ninety years old, with six generations under him. However, his health had declined, so instead of attending, his eldest grandson came on his behalf, as his own son had passed away.

The other was Dong Xun’s uncle, who was also nearly eighty years old and had four generations with him. Today, he was supported by several descendants to the meeting and seated at the top of the room, appearing quite spirited despite his age.

Both were figures of notable longevity within the Dong Family. Unfortunately, although there were many descendants in these two branches, none were particularly outstanding.

The Dong Family had been engaged in commerce for generations. By the time of Dong Xun’s grandfather, the family had already divided their assets. Over the years, Dong Xun’s branch, though not as populous, had increased its inherited wealth several times. However, the other branches continuously lost money, with two even suffering complete ruin due to disreputable descendants. Thus, in recent years, the Dong Family had depended on Dong Xun’s branch for sustenance since Dong Xun’s grandfather had been the eldest son, followed by Dong Xun’s father, making their branch always recognized as the main lineage.

Truthfully, Dong Wenxiu didn’t need to be included in the family genealogy since she had married into another family. Even if she were to be included, it would be into the Yang Family’s genealogy. But Dong Xun insisted on recording his daughter in the Dong Family genealogy because the genealogy of the Yang Family belonged to Xun Hui. Married or not, he wanted to make up for the thirty years his daughter had been absent.

The entire Dong Family relied on the main house to get by. Although many were dissatisfied with how solemnly Dong Xun was handling things, they dared not object too overtly since he had funded the clan hall’s repairs and the construction of the Dong Family school, and even covered the school fees for the Dong Family’s children... Hence, even if they had complaints, they could only hold them in, or at most grumble inwardly.

However, one person openly displayed his displeasure—Dong Yun, Dong Xun’s seventy-eight-year-old uncle. He felt it was all too much fuss for a girl who was married off. Why bother including her in the genealogy when it would eventually need to be removed?

”Uncle, you shouldn’t say that. These years, Wenxiu has suffered a lot. I need to give her a root, a maternal home she can rely on...” Dong Xun shook his head, ”Even though she is now a mother herself, she is still my daughter, a part of the Dong Family...”

Dong Yun frowned, ”Axun, this is not in accordance with our ancestral traditions.”

”Uncle, the ancestral traditions don’t say my daughter can’t be included in the genealogy,” Dong Xun slightly raised his eyebrows.
