The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1335: Chapter 1335: Really Rich (1)

Because the old master had fainted, the welcome ceremony was somewhat chaotic, but luckily, there was no danger. The Dong Family had a family doctor who administered two injections, and the old man quickly came to, though as soon as he opened his eyes, he asked for his Wenxiu.

Although Dong Wenxiu knew this was her father and her home, after all, she had been away for thirty years, and her previous living environment was nothing like this home, she felt very restrained.

Yang Ruxin knew her mother feared interacting with strangers and personally escorted her to Old Master Dong’s room.

Blood ties are a miraculous thing. Despite the thirty-year gap and initial restraint, after a short conversation, the father and daughter began sobbing together.

Dong Wenming also cried alongside them.

After the crying subsided, they started chatting, mostly inquiring about what each other had experienced over the years. Upon learning about the hardships Dong Wenxiu had endured, Old Master Dong was inconsolably distressed.

Seeing this scene, Yang Ruxin realized there was nothing more for her to do and left the room.

”Xinxin,” Dong Yushi was outside and came to greet Yang Ruxin as she saw her come out.

”Aunt.” Yang Ruxin smiled.

”I was so busy just now, how about I show you to the courtyard where you’ll be staying to see if there’s anything missing that needs to be taken care of immediately?” Dong Yushi came up to take Yang Ruxin’s hand.

”Thank you, Aunt.” Yang Ruxin nodded but stepped forward to avoid the contact. She didn’t dislike Madam Yu, but she also couldn’t feel close to her, not as close as Yuan Mengzhu’s sister-in-law, Cai Wenjuan. Perhaps it was because of Yang Baiyue, but there was a barrier that she felt.

A flicker of embarrassment crossed Dong Yushi’s face, but she quickly covered it up and continued to lead Yang Ruxin outside.

The Dong Residence covered a large area, with seven courtyards front and back, a large garden, and a Lotus Pond. There were pavilions, towers, terraces, and waterside gazebos, all exquisitely beautiful. Gardens separated each of the courtyards with cobblestone paths connecting them.

”This Jinxiu Courtyard was personally designed by my mother-in-law, hoping that one day, her sister-in-law would return...” Dong Yushi explained as they walked, ”The servants here were all appointed according to my mother-in-law’s original standards and, despite the years, none are missing, though they’ve been replaced over time...”

Yu Qingge quietly tugged at Yang Ruxin’s sleeve, ”Sister, the Dong Family is really rich.”

”The Dong Family used to be an Imperial Merchant. Even though they aren’t anymore, they still have a solid foundation,” Yang Ruxin nodded, ”Moreover, the Dong Family’s silk dyeing technology has always been leading in the industry. Even now, although some major silk producers have developed dyeing techniques, none match the Dong Family’s quality...”

Yu Qingge nodded, ”If they are so impressive, why did they stop being Imperial Merchants?”

Yang Ruxin shook her head; she genuinely didn’t know.

Jinxiu Courtyard was actually very close to the main courtyard, Song Garden, where the Old Master used to live. It was just a left turn from the main gate, past a small garden, and no more than a five-minute walk.

However, after the old madam had passed away, the Old Master was unwilling to live alone in Song Garden and moved to the Purple Bamboo Pavilion farther back, which took about fifteen minutes to reach.

The main building of Jinxiu Courtyard was a two-story embroidery building, with a small garden at both the front and the back, and several outbuildings that served as storage rooms or servants’ quarters. There was also a separate small kitchen.
