The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1329: Chapter 1329: Having Intention (1)

The Cheng Family rented two and a half rooms in this slum, and the family of five huddled together here, but even so, the rent of a dozen or so copper coins per month was still a luxury for them.

Cheng Qian’s leg had been broken in prison, and his health had collapsed; he needed medicine every month. Cheng Qian’s mother was also in poor health. For the past half-year, they had barely scraped by on what the Sun Family and the daughter could earn from mending clothes for others. Their youngest son had been going to school, but now they couldn’t afford to continue.

Yang Ruxin and Yu Qingge both stood in the courtyard, where the hot weather brought the stench of urine from every corner, accompanied by the coughing of the elderly in the house, the crying of the child next door, and even the sound of someone passing gas could be heard clearly.

”I’ve never seen such a dilapidated place,” Yu Qingge sighed. ”This family is really too pitiful.”

Yang Ruxin didn’t say anything; there were too many pitiful people in the world, and for the moment, it seemed like there was nothing she could do. Thus, there was no point in expressing her feelings.

”Sister, can’t we help them somehow?” Yu Qingge felt she couldn’t stand by and do nothing.

”Helping others has to be within one’s capabilities,” Yang Ruxin glanced at her. ”Besides, you have to consider whether they’re worth helping. And the help you’re talking about isn’t just giving them some silver, right?” Although Yang Miao’s words proved this family was good, after so many years, people change.

Yu Qingge nodded, then sighed again, aware that although Ruxin had quite a few people around her, they all had indenture contracts and were under control. They couldn’t truly know what this family was thinking and certainly didn’t want to add to Ruxin’s troubles.

Inside the house.

Cheng Sunshi led Yang Miao to her husband’s kang bed.

”So, it’s you, little girl, cough cough...” Cheng Qian recognized Yang Miao. ”Are your parents well?”

”My parents are fine, but Uncle Cheng, how can you...?” Yang Miao’s tears flowed freely. ”How did this happen?”

”Alas,” Cheng Qian sighed, ”it’s fate.” He even managed a smile, ”It’s rare that you’d come back to see me, but...”

”Uncle Cheng, my parents always remember your kindness,” Yang Miao wiped away her tears. ”I was only able to visit because I came to Hangzhou with madam and the young miss...”

”Appreciate it,” Cheng Qian nodded, ”but this place isn’t fit for your young miss...” He waved his hand, ”Go back now.” Not all sacrifices have rewards, but his past good deeds, in the end, brought some good karma, which satisfied him.

”Uncle Cheng, don’t worry, our young miss is quite capable; maybe she can help you...” Yang Miao said, getting up to run outside.

But Cheng Qian hastily stopped her: ”Girl, I appreciate your goodwill, but we’ve offended the Fu Family; a powerful dragon cannot crush a local snake. We can’t trouble your young miss...”

Cheng Sunshi started to cry next to them.

Yang Miao hesitated on the spot.

Just then, outside the door, a voice called out, ”Old Cheng, have you thought it through? Aiyo, where did this pretty young lady come from?”

Hearing this, Cheng Qian’s complexion changed instantly. Ignoring the pain in his leg, he tried to get up but ended up sprawling on the ground in front of the kang.

Cheng Sunshi and Yang Miao hurried to help him up.

Cheng Qian rushed into the courtyard and then fell to his knees with a thud: ”Manager Zhao, my Fofo is still young, please speak kindly on our behalf to the young master so he might spare my Fofo...” saying this, he began to kowtow.
