The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 245: Chapter 245: Rejection (Three More)_1

”Yes,” Doctor Wang also smiled, ”Don’t worry, your sister won’t be in any life-threatening danger. However, because she’s had a fever for too long, her lungs have been affected, so she will need to be looked after for a while to see how she recovers,” he paused, ”Fortunately, the little girl has a good constitution, so as long as the fever subsides and she rests well afterward, there won’t be a problem...”

”Thank you.” Dabao hurriedly bowed deeply to Doctor Wang, then seriously lifted his small hand to wipe away his tears, ”I won’t cry anymore.”

”Good child,” Doctor Wang smiled, ”I also had a medicinal soup prepared. Your sister has a lung infection, which is contagious. If you’re going to stay with her, it would be good for you to drink a couple of bowls.”

Dabao quickly nodded, then bravely drank down a bowl of the bitter medicinal soup without any sign of dislike.

”Such a good boy,” Doctor Wang liked Dabao’s obedience and understanding, ”Don’t worry, your sister will be fine.”

Dabao nodded in gratitude.

Yang Ruxin also breathed a sigh of relief. In this era, without IV drips, one could only rely on medicinal soups and acupuncture. Chinese medicine takes a longer cycle to treat illnesses, but as long as there are no life-threatening issues, that was great news.

Nevertheless, she went to buy a jar of white wine and wiped down the young girl’s entire body with it.

”This method of yours...” Doctor Wang frowned.

”My mother also had a fever before, and I did this to help reduce her fever,” Yang Ruxin smiled, ”It turned out quite effective... Uncle Li Yi also said it was a feasible method...”

Doctor Wang nodded, ”This method is indeed good.” He couldn’t help but take another look at Yang Ruxin; the girl really had a sharp mind.

Afterward, Yang Ruxin instructed Dabao to wipe his sister’s palms and soles with wine whenever he could.

”I didn’t expect you to be so clever. Are you interested in learning medicine with me?” Doctor Wang approached Yang Ruxin as she stepped out of the sickroom, quickly coming over to ask.

”Ah?” Yang Ruxin was startled.

”Think about it,” Doctor Wang stroked his beard. He was in dire need of a successor. Although he had two sons, neither were good with medicine, and they lacked the talent for it. He had thought of waiting to teach his grandchildren, but those two lads weren’t even looking for wives yet. He would probably have a long wait for grandchildren, and by then, he might already be buried in the ground. So, it might be better to take on an apprentice first.

”Thank you, Doctor Wang, but...” Yang Ruxin shook her head with a hint of regret, ”You should know about my family’s situation. They need my care at home, and I really don’t have the time for anything else.” In fact, if it wasn’t for asking Gu Qingheng, she wouldn’t have known; when he initially visited, he also sought treatment from Doctor Wang for his eyes and legs, but Doctor Wang wasn’t particularly skilled with poison.

Gu Qingheng had been poisoned, and to save his own life, he had to force the poison into his legs, rendering them immobile, while his eyes had been blinded by the toxicity.

She needed to become an apprentice of a doctor who specialized in treating complicated and rare diseases, so that in the future, she could treat Qingheng openly and legitimately.

Otherwise, with how clever that man was, he would surely notice any flaws.

Doctor Wang sighed, well aware of the Yang family’s circumstances and feeling sorry for them. At the same time, he felt that Yang Ruxin really wasn’t an ordinary girl. He then took out a small booklet and handed it to her, ”Even if you can’t become my apprentice, I still think you have an exceptional understanding. Take this as a gift; it’s always good to learn more.”

It was a ”Collection of Hundred Herbs,” which contained introductions to various herbs, accompanied by illustrations, and some common formulations for using these herbs were listed on the side.
