The Feng Shui Treasure Appraiser

435: Chapter 435 Don’t Easily Interfere in Others’ FatesZhu Yuanyuan became even more alert: ”What does she want to do?”

Han Jingyang said softly: ”She’s looking for me to treat an illness.”

”Isn’t she already recovered?”

”It’s not for her; it’s for her fellow patients.”

”This...” Zhu Yuanyuan asked cautiously, ”Will you agree?”

Han Jingyang shook his head: ”No.”

”Why?”

”It’s very troublesome, and I’m not a formal doctor. What qualifications do I have to treat people? Besides, if I can really cure them, that’s fine, but what if I can’t? I’ll definitely be blamed when the time comes.”

”That’s true too.”

”The key point isn’t even there.”

”Where is it?”

”The cost.”

”Huh?”

”Tell me, is it appropriate for me to help them for free?”

”It’s not appropriate. You definitely have to charge, and you can’t run a losing business.”

”Exactly, that’s where the problem lies. Minor ailments are fine, as the cost isn’t high, but those difficult and complicated diseases or even terminal illnesses are very hard to deal with. Even if I can treat them, the cost is extremely high—few families in the world can afford it, let alone her fellow patients,” Han Jingyang sighed. ”So, rather than dealing with the headache later, it’s better to just refuse directly.”

Speaking to this point, he looked at Zhu Yuanyuan tenderly: ”You don’t think I’m heartless, do you?”

”No, no, no. I would do the same if I were you. It’s not about being heartless or cold-blooded; it’s just that there are things you can do and things you can’t. Your status is already troublesome; whether you cure them or not, it will bring even greater trouble,” Zhu Yuanyuan paused for a few seconds. ”Besides, I’ve always felt that one must not casually interfere with other people’s fates, whether for better or worse, especially when we have the power to decide the fates of others.”

”Oh? That’s an interesting way of putting it. Tell me more?”

”People online say so too, especially doctors and teachers who feel it most deeply. These two professions can most directly decide the fates of others. Doctors go without saying, but as for teachers, if they want to change a student’s fate, it’s simply too easy. A single sentence or even a look can potentially change the fate of one or even several students. When a teacher realizes this, they naturally understand that they must never easily interfere with someone else’s fate, because you simply cannot predict whether the outcome of your intervention will be good or bad.”

Han Jingyang thought about it and gave Zhu Yuanyuan a thumbs up: ”Impressive. Most people wouldn’t realize this. I only had a vague inkling before, but I didn’t see it as clearly as you. You’ve perfectly explained my mindset for not saving them.”

”Still, saving people is generally a good thing. It’s hard for an ordinary person to make such a decision.”

”That’s why I’m not an ordinary person.”

After a bit of flirting, Zhu Yuanyuan got out of the car to go to work.

Han Jingyang watched Zhu Yuanyuan enter the school gate before starting the car to turn around and leave.

On the way to Jiguang Zhai, he was still pondering Zhu Yuanyuan’s words.

Do not easily interfere with other people’s fates.

It certainly made sense.

However, his main reason for planning to refuse Sun Qian wasn’t that complicated—he just found it troublesome.

Saving one person is simple.

Saving three or four people is also simple.

The cost isn’t that high either; even the real cost of top-tier skills isn’t high. After all, most of the items in his hands are spoils of war, so the cost is flexible—it’s high if he says it’s high, and low if he says it’s low, all depending on his mood.

But, it’s very troublesome.

It’s troublesome if they aren’t cured.

It’s even more troublesome if they are cured. Word of mouth spreads, and real events of a miraculous nature with a metaphysical tint will spread faster than ordinary people can imagine.

By then, he would never have a day of peace. Everyone with terminal illnesses, rare diseases, or even common ailments would hunt him down frantically.

Even if he changed his number and address, it wouldn’t matter. As long as he still had social connections, all sorts of people would surely find him through his social circle.

Just thinking about that scene was a headache.

Of course, it wasn’t completely without a solution.

The most direct and effective way would be to set a threshold and charge an astronomical fee.

But then he would become the exclusive tool of the rich and powerful.

That was something he couldn’t accept.

Therefore, he would directly refuse Sun Qian’s request to nip those issues in the bud.

As for anything else, it would depend on his mood and fate.

That evening.

Lao Quan Barbecue.

Han Jingyang arrived for the appointment on time. Upon entering the private room, he saw two women dressed up colorfully.

Zhu Yuanyuan wore a red and white checkered dress, her hair styled in two thick braids with straight bangs. She wore no makeup at all, looking extremely simple. At a glance, she had the feel of a natural beauty from the eighties.

This reminded him of the old song ”Xiao Fang.”

It also made him unable to resist taking several extra looks.

Because Zhu Yuanyuan in this outfit really had a certain charm. The dress and hairstyle paired with her round, almond-shaped eyes became more attractive the more he looked. It was a kind of beauty completely different from modern popular aesthetics, full of character.

Sun Qian, on the other hand, was the exact opposite. She wore hot pants and a tight, midriff-baring T-shirt paired with a maroon high ponytail, fully displaying the fashion and boldness of a modern young woman. Her makeup was exquisite but not gaudy; she looked good no matter how one looked at her—a striking, fiery, and fashionable beauty.

It was quite a wonder that these two could be good friends.

And dressing like this for such an occasion—were they planning to have a showdown tonight?

Han Jingyang’s gaze swept over them, and he laughed as he opened his arms to Zhu Yuanyuan: ”Sister Yuanyuan, come, give me a hug!”

Zhu Yuanyuan was deeply embarrassed: ”Stop it, just order the food. Order whatever you want, don’t be polite. You’re Old Sun’s savior; make her bleed a little.”

Ignoring her protest, Han Jingyang walked over and pulled Zhu Yuanyuan into his arms like a hen catching a chick, giving her a firm kiss: ”I certainly won’t be polite with her. Waiving her medical fee was already generous enough.”

Blushing, Zhu Yuanyuan pushed Han Jingyang away and pulled over the menu: ”Pick only the best items.”

Lao Quan Barbecue was quite good in the barbecue scene, with a solid reputation and prices that weren’t low.

But at the end of the day, it was just a barbecue joint. How expensive could it be?

For three people, without alcohol, even if they ordered lobster and abalone, it would only be a few hundred yuan.

Well.

They still had to drink a little.

They ordered a case of Tsingtao Beer. Sun Qian opened a bottle, filled it, and toasted Han Jingyang: ”Brother-in-law, the debt for saving my life is greater than the heavens. Thank you. If not for your help, I might be dead already. Truly, thank you very, very much. This glass, I’m draining it!”

After saying that, she tilted her head back and gulped it down into her stomach.

An entire bottle, not a single drop left.

Though she drank a bit slowly, her sincerity was clear.

Han Jingyang nodded and also drained his glass in one go. This was too easy for him; he could chug from the bottle back in school, let alone now. He felt nothing after one bottle.

But Sun Qian was different. She clearly wasn’t a frequent drinker. Although she could drink, she was already bloated after one bottle.

Yet she immediately filled a second glass: ”Brother-in-law, er, this glass is to thank you for your help, and also to apologize for my previous ignorance, arrogance, and rudeness. I’m sorry.”

After saying that, she tilted her head back again and started gulping. But this time it wasn’t so smooth; she had to pause several times before forcing herself to finish it.

And after this second bottle, she clearly couldn’t hold it anymore, her eyes rolling back from being so full.

Han Jingyang slowly finished his second glass and winked at Zhu Yuanyuan: ”Take her to the restroom. Don’t let her force it.”

Upon hearing this, Sun Qian gave him a look of immense gratitude and, supported by Zhu Yuanyuan, headed straight for the restroom.

Han Jingyang continued to sip his beer.

But very quickly, he realized something was wrong.

Listening closely, he could faintly hear Sun Qian’s scream.

His expression changed instantly!
