Supreme Star Card Master

Chapter 296: Chapter 242 Devour Star Core Chapter 296: Chapter 242 Devour Star Core Su Yuan’s figure flashed rapidly out of the room.

He arrived at a secluded, empty square behind the camp.

He raised his hand and released the slime.

Su Yuan placed his hand on its head.

“Absorb.”

“Splurt!”

The slime nudged Su Yuan’s palm before it started devouring the star power Su Yuan released.

As the slime began its devouring process, a hint of astonishment indeed showed in Su Yuan’s eyes.

“This devouring ability, it’s actually ten times stronger than before!”

If the previous speed of the slime devouring star power was like a trickle as thin as a toothpick, then now, it was as thick as a chopstick.

“Splurt?!”

The slime seemed to be shocked by its suddenly enhanced devouring ability.

It quickly slowed down and looked up at Su Yuan.

Su Yuan said, “It’s okay, go ahead and absorb fully.”

Hearing this, the slime resumed its full-force devouring.

“Splurt splurt!”

Before long, the slime filled up with star power and became round and plump!

For Su Yuan, who was at the Gold Level and possessed a Star Spring, this amount of star power was naturally nothing.

Su Yuan asked, “What you just mentioned, can you really do it?”

“Splurt!” The slime nodded heavily.

“Alright, let’s give it a try.”

Su Yuan flipped his hand and took out a star core.

It was the star core he had obtained from the water element elf in the Sea City ruins earlier.

He tossed the star core to the slime, which swallowed it directly.

The slime closed its eyes.

The golden patterns on its body faintly lit up, and a layer of black light gradually spread on its surface.

Within just a few seconds, the slime reopened its eyes, showing a trace of excitement.

Water light flowed on its body.

After a slight charge, a spear, manifested by flowing water, condensed in front of it.

“Splurt!”

With a low shout from the slime, the water spear shot out rapidly into the distance.

Su Yuan’s figure flashed.

He appeared in front of the water spear and crushed it with a hand, then flashed back to his original spot.

“Splurt!

Splurt!”

The slime was exceedingly excited.

“It actually succeeded!” Su Yuan’s eyes were full of surprise.

After its breakthrough, the slime had said it could now devour star cores.

Moreover, when devouring star cores, it could choose to devour the energy within or absorb one of the skills.

ƝονǤο.ƈο

Su Yuan could understand the former, as star cores were pure energy crystals that ordinary humans and star beasts could not directly absorb.

Now that the slime had reached the Bronze Level, its devouring law had greatly enhanced, making it unsurprising it could devour star cores.

But absorbing one of the skills…

???

Su Yuan was stunned.

Wasn’t this even better than his system’s “extraction function”?

Additionally, the Star Dust System required a significant amount of star dust, equivalent to the skill level being raised to the Transformation Realm, to extract a skill from a star core that wasn’t obtained by himself.

But the slime did not need this.

Su Yuan asked again, “Is there a limit to the number of skills you can devour?”

“Splurt (It seems there isn’t any right now)!”

“What other restrictions are there?”

“Splurt splurt (There is a grade limit, the grade can’t exceed its own grade plus one)!”

“Own grade plus one?

That means…

epic?!”

Su Yuan was astounded, looking at the small slime in front of him, feeling extremely shocked.

This ability was much stronger than the human form manifestation of star beasts!

Human form manifested star beasts could embed an extra one or two skills, and, like human Star Card Masters, could start embedding epic star cards at the Gold Level.

But the slime was different.

It could already absorb epic purple cards now?

After thinking for a moment, Su Yuan took out another star core, which was from the Cold Crystal Sea Lion.

Since he didn’t have an epic star core for the slime to try, he decided to use a blue star core to confirm first.

Seeing Su Yuan throw another star core over, the slime immediately leaped up to catch it and began devouring again.

However, this time, it took much longer.

After several minutes, the slime finally reopened its eyes, shaking all over, clearly charging a skill.

“Splurt!”

In the air ahead, water elements gathered, and a transparent, shapeless water cube quickly formed.

It was the Water Element Ice Prison that the Cold Crystal Sea Lion had used before.

Although the Water Element Ice Prison created by the slime was only the size of a basketball court, there was no doubt that it could genuinely be used!

Su Yuan opened the panel, discovering another surprise:

[Guardian Beast: Slime (Emperor-level Reincarnator)]

[Law: Devouring]

…

[Extra Skills: Water Element Ice Prison (Blue|Great Success), Raging Current Spear (Green|Master)]

These extra skills had completely inherited the skill levels of their former owners!

“Good, very good!”

Su Yuan was delighted.

Up to this point, he had fully experienced what it meant to carry the ultimate law of an emperor-level reincarnator.

Such potential… No, this kind of cheat was simply heaven-defying!

The slime, receiving praise, joyfully hopped around Su Yuan.

Su Yuan suddenly thought of something and took out a bead marked with an inscription from his ring, the Source Pearl obtained from the Ancient Naga.

Since the Destiny Plate in the Sea City ruins had been pierced by the Anode Divine Spear and the Demon Emperor’s resurrection had failed, the strange power on the Source Pearl had disappeared and it could now be stored in the ring.

Su Yuan initially wanted to extract the pure energy within for absorption but found it impossible to achieve.

This bead was clearly a meticulously crafted star power artifact.

Extracting its energy was much more difficult than extracting energy from star stones or even star cores.

“This bead was prepared by the Demon Emperor for its post-resurrection.

Besides providing pure energy to recover part of its strength, the inscriptions on it might be the most important thing…”

After countless years, even if the Demon Emperor successfully resurrected, it was difficult to recover its full strength immediately.

This was evident from the Sea City ruins being made into a Gold Secret Realm.

It was likely left to recover from Gold to Shining Star at most.

Thus, the ten Source Pearls were prepared for its “weak period” after resurrection.

Besides the pure energy in these pearls, the inscriptions might represent something even more complex.

Ordinary humans and star beasts couldn’t use this Source Pearl.

But with the devouring law retained through reincarnation, the slime should be able to absorb it…

As Su Yuan took out the Source Pearl, the slime immediately felt a kind of attraction and looked over.

“Splurt (I want it)!”

After thinking briefly, Su Yuan tossed the Source Pearl to it.

Now that the Guardian Beast Contract was formed, the slime’s life and death were entirely under Su Yuan’s control.

There was no fear that there was anything harmful in the Source Pearl.

The slime caught the Source Pearl and swallowed it.

In just moments, it began devouring it bit by bit, much like eating candy, with a relaxed expression, as if it wasn’t laborious at all.

As a large amount of energy was devoured by the slime, through the contract, Su Yuan could feel the slime growing stronger at a visibly rapid pace every second!

He sensed it briefly: “At this rate, it might take some time to fully devour.”

What exactly could be derived from the inscriptions on this bead would only be known once it was completely devoured.

Setting this matter aside, Su Yuan bent down and looked at the slime: “Now that you’re my guardian beast, it’s time to give you a name.”

“Splurt!”

Hearing the word “name,” the slime, relishing the Source Pearl, immediately became excited and looked at Su Yuan with eager eyes.

Su Yuan kneaded the slime, finding the feel quite good: “Hmm…

I’ll call you Ruan Ruan.”

“Splurt???”

The slime hadn’t expected Su Yuan to be so casual and stared with wide, golden eyes.

“Splurt splurt!”

The slime sent forth a strong unwillingness.

It wasn’t about whether the name sounded good or not, just that it seemed too weak!

“Good, it’s decided,” Su Yuan said decisively, squeezing the slime again.

“Ruan Ruan, just as the name implies.”

Names should be simple and easy to remember.

Su Yuan briefly considered naming it something imposing and grandiose like “Shi Aotian” which a still-immature slime would probably love.

But once it grew up and matured, it might be too embarrassed to even announce its name.

“Splurt splurt…”

Protests were in vain, the slime had to reluctantly accept the name.

After the naming, without needing any command from Su Yuan, the system automatically updated.

Not just the name, but even the power of the devouring law got detailed:

[Guardian Beast: Ruan Ruan (Emperor-level Reincarnator)]

[Law: Devouring (Concealing Breath, Energy Devouring, Plunder)]

…

“Concealing Breath, Energy Devouring, Plunder should correspond to the three abilities Ruan Ruan currently possesses.

Moreover, it seems the system has become smarter since the breakthrough…”

Su Yuan noticed a slight difference.

Previously the system wouldn’t activate unless given a clear command or a set condition was met.

Now, it appeared to autonomously update some information based on Su Yuan’s intent.

But after further testing, he found this to be the only change.

Although it became a bit more intelligent, no new functions appeared.

“Anyway, this indicates the system is evolving.

Perhaps there’ll be new changes when I reach the Shining Star Level.”

Su Yuan collected his thoughts.

He said to the slime…

Ruan Ruan, “Would you like to return to the Guardian Beast Space?”

“Splurt splurt (Can I not go back)?”

Ruan Ruan seemed reluctant to return to the boring Guardian Beast Space.

After a brief thought, Su Yuan said, “Alright, but as before, you cannot make any noise.”

Ruan Ruan agreed excitedly, “Splurt (Okay)!”

Then, Ruan Ruan transformed into a blue bracelet with golden patterns and wrapped around Su Yuan’s left hand.

Su Yuan already had powerful Concealing Breath skills from his Master Level breathing technique; with Ruan Ruan aiding in concealing his aura and star power fluctuations, even a high-level expert might not detect Su Yuan’s presence.

“Just the Concealing Breath effect alone is good for me.

As Ruan Ruan and the devouring law grow stronger, the Concealing Breath effect will undoubtedly become more potent too.”

Su Yuan glanced at Ruan Ruan on his left wrist, nodded in satisfaction, and then headed back to the camp.
