Supreme Star Card Master

Chapter 261: Chapter 213: Garrison Task

Great Flame in the south, South Pole City.

From the high plane, Su Yuan sat by the window, overlooking the city below and gazing at the distant sea.

“The buildings near the southern coast are heavily damaged. However, the entire city doesn’t seem to have major issues. It looks like the damage was caused by the first wave of sea beast attacks.” Cheng Mu peered out and said to Su Yuan.

Sitting in front, Pei Pengfei clicked his tongue: “Damn, even the seawater is dyed red. It seems this sea beast tide is truly ferocious. Who knows how many sea beasts met their end…”

The Demon Capital Academy students on the plane, upon seeing the situation at the coast, began to discuss quietly among themselves.

“It’s even more brutal than I imagined…”

“Indeed, even though so many dead are sea beasts, the sheer number still sends chills down my spine…”

Those with sharp enough vision could see the many flesh and blood remains near the coast, not yet washed away by the sea current.

All these remains were from sea beasts. However, this does not mean there were no human Star Card Masters.

Human Star Card Masters’ bodies had been retrieved if possible.

…

After a while, several planes from Demon Capital Academy landed one after another at the city airport.

It wasn’t just Demon Capital Academy. The top academies from Wanzhou and Qing Province in the south, as well as those from Shuzhou and Liu Zhou nearby in the west and east, had also organized students to come and support.

So, at this moment, South Pole City was gathering experts from several academies.

After disembarking, Zheng Chusheng and Yang Fanghua, another Burning Sun Level teacher, went to meet the City Lord of South Pole City as representatives.

Su Yuan and others were assigned to a large camp near the south. The City Guard members were also staying there recently. The regular army was not present.

On the camp square, a Shining Star Level City Guard Captain walked over.

“Hello, teachers. I am Lin Feng, the captain of the 8th battalion, 4th squadron of the South Pole City Guard.”

Among the dozen or so teachers, a middle-aged man at Radiant Moon Level stepped forward: “Ji Lang from Demon Capital Academy, nice to meet you, Captain Lin.”

Lin Feng handed a stack of documents to Ji Lang: “Teacher Ji, these are the dormitories assigned based on the provided list. Four people share a room, starting from this building on the left.

Today, settle the students of Demon Capital Academy in first, familiarize them with the environment and the current situation. Starting tomorrow, you might need to coordinate and cooperate!”

“Alright, no problem!”

After giving instructions, Lin Feng left quickly. It seemed the situation was not as good as expected.

The dormitories were quickly assigned. Su Yuan and his 11-4 squad entered their dormitory, having nothing to do for the moment.

This dormitory was much smaller than the four-person rooms at Demon Capital Academy, only about 40 square meters.

For ordinary people’s collective dormitories, it was already very large. However, for Star Card Masters, it was a bit cramped.

Su Yuan was living in such a collective dormitory for the first time.

Though it was inconvenient for training, it sufficed for cultivation as long as there was space.

After entering, Su Yuan directly began cultivating without tidying up.

“No wonder he’s a genius who broke through to Silver High Stage in a year, being so diligent.” Pei Pengfei spoke slowly, with a hint of bitterness in his tone.

Not everyone is broad-minded. Seeing someone reach in a year what took you three years likely wouldn’t make many people happy.

Su Yuan ignored him. The reason he could break through to Silver High Stage so quickly was by spending 20,000 Cent Star Stones.

Don’t mention slacking off for a day or two, even an hour or a minute of slack was a waste of those Star Stones.

Having rested enough on the plane, it was time to seize every moment for cultivation now.

Lin Feng from the City Guard had mentioned they would need Demon Capital Academy’s assistance starting the next day.

As for the surrounding situation, all the team captains had been summoned to Command Camp No. 3 by the teachers to understand the current situation.

In a while, the captains would probably gather their squads to sync information and arrange the next day’s tasks.

Team operations require synchronized information, being the basic necessity.

After obtaining the information, they could independently verify any omissions or need for confirmation by themselves.

Seeing that Su Yuan seemed not to care, Pei Pengfei clicked his tongue and turned to Gong Zhouheng: “Captain Gong, should we go and check out the neighboring teams?”

Gong Zhouheng shook his head: “You all go ahead. We might have a brief meeting later. If you’re not here, I can convey the messages, but I can’t afford to be absent.”

Seeing this, Pei Pengfei could only ask Cheng Mu beside him: “Cheng Mu, will you come?”

Cheng Mu pondered for a moment, then nodded: “Sure, let’s check around and the coast. Besides, students from Qing Province, Liu Zhou, and other academies have also come. We can see what they’ve been up to.”

Pei Pengfei, finally having someone on board, felt much better: “Let’s go.”

As Pei Pengfei and Cheng Mu left, only Su Yuan and Gong Zhouheng remained in the dormitory.

Gong Zhouheng sensed the Star Power rapidly gathering around Su Yuan at a much faster rate than his usual cultivation speed, indicating Su Yuan had entered a deep cultivation state.

“Not only does he have an exceptional cultivation talent, but his mentality and self-control are also extraordinary…” Gong Zhouheng sighed inwardly.

Don’t fear those more talented than you, but those more talented and also more hard-working.

Feeling somewhat motivated by Su Yuan, Gong Zhouheng settled his mind and also began cultivating.

…

About two hours later.

“Su Yuan?” Gong Zhouheng cautiously called.

Su Yuan opened his eyes from cultivation: “Captain Gong.”

“Vice Chairman Liu has returned from the Command Camp. He wants us to go to their dormitory. Will you come with me?”

“Sure.” Su Yuan nodded and immediately followed Gong Zhouheng out.

…

“Currently, the Nine Coastal Cities, including South Pole City, are out of immediate danger. The military has built defensive structures on the sea.

Among the Seven Coastal Cities led by South Pole City, many Second Stage day and moon experts have already gone to the sea to find the root cause of the sea beast tide.

The coastal defense barriers have been closed. Shipping routes to the Southern Islands have been reestablished, with naval ships escorting the surroundings.

Tomorrow, our 11th battalion and several other battalions will be stationed on Island B-3 of the Southern Islands, which is Cloud Forest Island.

Cloud Forest Island is one of the outer islands and among the most severely impacted by sea beast attacks.

There are already hundreds of military personnel and other academy students stationed there.

Given the constant possibility of sea beast group attacks, our manpower is quite limited. Everyone should be mentally prepared for high-intensity tasks.”

The islands of the Southern Islands are classified into ABC levels based on size:

Among them, there are 3 large islands, numbered A1 to A3;

There are 8 medium islands, numbered B1 to B8;

As for small islands, there are more than a dozen.

“Vice Chairman Liu, what are our main tasks there?”

“Hunting sea beasts attacking the island and ensuring the successful construction of the military’s defensive structures.”

Liu Congyun explained slowly: “The military has dispatched Barrier Masters to set up a ‘Star Tower’ barrier on the Southern Islands.

Once the barrier is completed, it will be like having ‘walls,’ so subsequent defensive construction won’t need our involvement then.

Thus, our task is to eliminate star beasts around the islands and assist the military’s Barrier Masters in successfully completing the barrier setup on Island B-3.

Upon task completion, everyone will receive a reward of 5,000 battle merit points, marking the task’s satisfactory end!”

Battle merits.

Hearing this term, everyone’s eyes brightened.

“Vice Chairman Liu, how valuable are these battle merits specifically?”

“5000 battle merit points can barely exchange for a Blue Star Card at the military warehouse. Understand?”

“That’s valuable!”

The academy students here, apart from a few Gold Level experts, were mostly at the Silver Stage.

Even though academy students are generally superior to ordinary Star Card Masters, Blue Star Cards are still highly sought after.

Moreover, most of these students are at Silver High Stage or even Silver Extreme.

Though Gold Level can embed Epic Purple Card.

But “can” and “have” are completely different concepts.

Over 99% of Demon Capital students, at Gold Level, still embed Blue Cards!

When reaching Shining Star Level, their strength and savings increase, then they might get one or two Purple Cards.

Under usual circumstances, for most Shining Star Levels, Purple Cards are their trump cards!

So being stationed for a month or two and earning a Blue Card, this task was very rewarding for Silver Stage academy students!

Of course, for Gold Level students like Liu Congyun and others, with greater abilities came greater responsibilities, and surely higher rewards.

“Besides the basic task reward, any kills of sea beasts and other meritorious actions also yield battle merits!

Bronze-level Sea Beast: 10-20 points;

Silver Stage Sea Beast: 100-200 points;

Gold Level Sea Beast: 2000-4000 points;

These are the battle merits for ordinary and elite sea beasts. For Master Sea Beasts, the rewards are tripled.”

Saying this, Liu Congyun produced several star power devices that looked like silver metal bracelets and handed them to Gong Zhouheng and other squad captains.

“These are military detection communication devices that can be used for communication and detecting a target’s type, aura, and star power fluctuations.

They record our sea beast kills and upload the information to the military. Ensure to keep them safe, and replace them immediately if damaged!”

Everyone fiddled with the detection communication devices, wanting to test them, only to find that other than the communication function, the detection function was ineffective on surrounding people.

Liu Congyun explained: “These detectors we received are prohibited from being used on humans. They only work on star beasts.”

“I see…”

Everyone nodded, feeling slightly excited.

“Looks like we might obtain a decent Blue Card this time!”

Though the lower-level sea beasts have fewer merit points, the battle merits for Gold Level sea beasts were considerable, multiplied by 3 for Master Sea Beasts!

Once sea beasts land, their strength usually diminishes. Everyone present were senior students of Demon Capital Academy, among the stronger Silver Stage students in Great Flame!

Everyone had some confidence in killing Gold Level sea beasts!

If they could earn sufficient battle merits, obtaining a T2-level Blue Card this time was hopeful too!

“The outermost islands always have Second Stage experts from the military patrolling. Once spotting any powerful star beasts, they’ll deal with them immediately.

So, typically, Shining Star Level beasts wouldn’t appear in our sight.

But we must remain vigilant. Shining Star Level is much stronger than Gold Level!

I myself can’t endure many rounds, let alone you.

In case of Shining Star Level appearances, our task is to ensure our survival, awaiting academy and military rescue!”

Liu Congyun took out a map, pointing at the island’s western coast:

“This stretch here will be patrolled by us. If large groups of sea beasts are found within five kilometers of the coast, report immediately to the command post.

For smaller groups of sea beasts, handle them if possible. If not, contact the command post for support promptly.

Understood?”

“Understood!”

After detailing the arrangements, emergency measures, team interactions, Liu Congyun dismissed the squads to make their own preparations.
