Chapter 1539: Chapter 1538 Cherry Blossom Ninja

Lin Dong, hearing the words of the elder monk, couldn’t help but ask, ”Senior, isn’t it necessary to defeat you to be considered successful in passing the challenge?”

The elder monk gave him a rolling eye and said, ”Don’t you count this as defeating me?”

”Do you want to see me lying motionless on the ground? At my old age, I cannot bear such treatment.”

He was self-aware and knew that Lin Dong had held back just now.

Continuing the fight would not make the elder monk a match for Lin Dong.

So, he simply conceded defeat.

After hearing the elder monk’s words, Lin Dong cupped his hands and said, ”Then thank you, senior, for yielding.”

The elder monk rolled his eyes at him again, ”I don’t like this, what do you mean by yielding? If you are defeated, you are defeated; where does yielding come into it?”

”Haha...” Lin Dong laughed heartily, thinking to himself that this old monk indeed had a straightforward temper.

Though he had admitted defeat, Lin Dong didn’t immediately go upstairs.

Instead, he said, ”Senior, let me finish learning the internal martial arts on this floor before going upstairs.”

”Suit yourself,” the elder monk said, then paid no more attention to Lin Dong.

Instead, he began to study the external martial arts technique that Lin Dong had given him, as well as the insights about merging internal and external martial arts.

After a long study, he still could not grasp the basics.

Looking over at Lin Dong, he almost learned a set of internal martial arts every few minutes.

He glanced back and forth between Lin Dong and himself and couldn’t help but rub his shiny bald head and bitterly smiled, ”This is really frustrating, comparing oneself to others.”

Half a day passed, and Lin Dong had mastered all the internal martial arts on the third floor.

After mastering them, he turned to the elder monk and said, ”Senior, I’m heading upstairs now.”

The elder monk waved his hand, ”Go ahead, I suspect the ninja from Yinghua Country will have a headache with you.”

”But I must warn you, that ninja from Yinghua Country is not weak. Moreover, he has a weird temper and is indeed willing to kill.”

”There have been challengers who were actually killed by him.”

Hearing this, Lin Dong frowned slightly but didn’t say anything and resolutely walked towards the stairs.

National Technique Tower, Fourth floor!

The layout of the fourth floor was completely different from the previous three.

The fourth floor had no ever-burning lamps; it was pitch dark, the kind of darkness where you can’t see your hand in front of your face.

One could faintly sense a solemn killing intent permeating the area.

After Lin Dong ascended the stairs, he cupped his fists towards the fourth floor and said, ”Senior, I am a challenger, may I know how to pass this fourth stage?”

Amidst the darkness, a voice with a hint of Yinghua Country’s accent responded, ”It’s simple, defeat me!”

”Just by defeating me, you can pass this stage!”

”Before we begin, let me give you a warning. Those whom I find displeasing, I will directly slaughter.”

”So, you can see in the corner over there, there are piles of bones, all left by challengers.”

”And you, I find particularly displeasing. You are too young, yet so highly skilled, which really annoys me!”

Hearing this, Lin Dong didn’t know what to say.

Being young and highly skilled, how could that annoy you?

”Alright, enough talk. I’ve warned you in advance; do you still want to proceed with the challenge? If you’re scared, you can leave now,” the voice from the darkness spoke again.

Without any hesitation, Lin Dong laughingly said, ”In my Lin Dong’s dictionary, there are no words for fear.”

”Okay, since you insist on challenging, then come,” the voice in the darkness spoke again.

Lin Dong stepped into the fourth floor of the Pagoda.

Instantly, a piercing chill filled the air.

Limitless darkness and loneliness assaulted him, enveloping him completely.

Lin Dong realized that his cultivation level was not suppressed by the pagoda, which meant that the guardian of this fourth stage must be at least as powerful as him.

Moreover, Lin Dong found that he couldn’t sense the exact location of his opponent.

The method his adversary used to conceal his presence was far superior to any assassin from Yinghua Country he had previously encountered.

If he were to become an assassin, there would hardly be anyone in this world who could escape from him!

”Swoosh!” Just then, a killing intent suddenly appeared behind Lin Dong.

A soft sword stabbed towards him.

Lin Dong was greatly startled and hurriedly dodged.

”Swoosh!” Although Lin Dong’s speed was incredibly fast and he evaded the fatal strike, the sword still grazed him, leaving a cut on his body.

Lin Dong’s face slightly changed as he said, ”Such a fast sword!”

”And it’s very similar to one of the sword techniques I’ve seen before, but your technique is far superior to theirs.”

”Oh? You’ve seen this type of sword technique that I’m using?” The voice of his opponent, somewhat surprised, came from all directions in the darkness.

Even while speaking, Lin Dong couldn’t pinpoint his exact location.

”Yes,” Lin Dong said. ”Your sword technique, it should belong to the same school, right?”

His opponent laughingly said, ”I don’t mind telling you, the sword technique I’m using here is from the ’Iga Sect.’”

”My name is Qingye Thousand Cranes, formerly of the Qingye Clan of the Iga Sect... over three hundred years ago, I fought with your Yangxin Upper People from Dragon Country and lost. As per the agreement, I have stayed here to guard the tower.”

Upon hearing this, Lin Dong began to mutter to himself.

He also has the surname Qingye?

Could he be related to Qingye Sanzang and Qingye Piaoxue of the Qingye Clan?

Hearing Lin Dong’s quiet mutterings, the voice of the opponent rang out again.

”Kid, what are you muttering about over there?”

Lin Dong didn’t bother hiding it and spoke directly, ”The person I met before who used the same school of sword technique as you, her name was Qingye Piaoxue. Was her technique called ’Drifting Snow Sword’?”

”Oh? Drifting Snow Sword? Snow Drifting in the World? This sword technique is indeed from our Qingye Clan, so it’s very likely that this person is one of my descendants,” the opponent responded.

”Hahaha...” Upon saying this, he suddenly laughed hysterically. ”Kid, are you trying to establish a connection with me?”

”But it’s useless, even if you know my descendants, I won’t hold back against you today.”

”I will fight with all my strength!”

”You won’t find it easy to pass this stage.”

After this, there was silence for a long while.

And Lin Dong, too, became more cautious.

At this moment, he felt as if a bloodthirsty hawk was hidden in the darkness; although he could sense the danger, he couldn’t pinpoint its exact location.

This method of lurking was truly terrifying.

”Swoosh!” Just then, his opponent struck again, aiming for Lin Dong’s throat.

Lin Dong slightly smiled and promptly invoked his ’Immortal Golden Body’!

A golden light flashed with a ”sizz–” sound.

Lin Dong’s body transformed into a golden Buddha.

After deploying the Immortal Golden Body, Lin Dong didn’t bother to dodge and simply took the hit head-on.

”Clang!”

As the sword struck Lin Dong’s throat, it made a metallic clashing sound.

At the same moment, Lin Dong threw a punch.
