Urban Divine Doctor Descends the Mountain

Chapter 380: Chapter 380: What’s the matter, Teacher Huang Hua?

Lin Dong’s invitations were electronic, and he received responses that very night.

Early the next morning.

Lin Dong needed to make a trip to the hospital today.

The hospital had given them a day off yesterday after coming back from their advanced studies.

As for today, these visiting doctors needed to report on their work experience in Southern Capital.

After arriving at the hospital, the president of Jianghai Renmin’s Hospital personally presided over a meeting.

At the meeting, they first listened to the reports on the work completed during the advanced studies.

Finally, in the summary phase, the president made an announcement.

”In view of Doctor Lin Dong’s excellent performance during his advanced studies at Southern Capital Hospital, the hospital has decided to promote him exceptionally to the position of Director of the Chinese Medicine Department!”

”He will be responsible for all matters concerning the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Jianghai Renmin Hospital.”

The hospital president, unlike Chu Yunxiu and others, as the head of a Grade III Hospital, naturally paid attention to significant happenings in the medical community.

The news that Lin Dong had become the leader of the Southern Faction of Traditional Chinese Medicine and defeated Wang Taisui, the Number One in Traditional Chinese Medicine, during the Medical Competition between the Southern and Northern Factions was something he could not have possibly been unaware of.

Therefore, offering Lin Dong the position of Director of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department at Jianghai Renmin Hospital was indeed an underutilization of his talent.

He even feared that Lin Dong might decline, so he offered conditions at the highest level of treatment.

Whether it was the annual salary or the rights, they were all more than those of the previous director of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department.

Upon hearing this, Lin Dong frowned slightly.

The president hadn’t discussed this with him in advance, and the sudden promotion to the director of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department also took him by surprise.

He wasn’t worried about being inadequate for the position.

It was because being a department head was a very busy job.

”Doctor Lin Dong, if there is anything troubling you, feel free to speak up; your requests will be respected by our administration,” said the president, who even addressed Lin Dong with the honorific ’you’.

Lin Dong then shared his concerns.

”I don’t think I can take on the role of Director of the Chinese Medicine Department. It’s too busy, and I don’t have that much time to manage a department...”

Upon hearing this, the president quickly smiled and shook his head, saying:

”Doctor Lin Dong, this is not a problem at all. Rest assured, we will appoint someone specifically to manage the department.”

”As for your role, it will primarily involve seeing patients and treating illnesses. You don’t have to worry about the rest.”

”It is like being a visiting professor at a university; it won’t take up too much of your time.”

After hearing this, Lin Dong agreed to the position.

After the meeting was over, the news that Lin Dong had been promoted to Director of the Chinese Medicine Department spread throughout the entire hospital.

Lin Dong and Qiao Bing returned to their previous Department of Cardiology.

Qiao Bing said, ”Lin Dong, congratulations on being promoted to Director of the Chinese Medicine Department. From now on, we’re at the same level.”

Qiao Bing was genuinely happy for Lin Dong, although it was somewhat uncomfortable to think that once Lin Dong was promoted to Director of the Chinese Medicine Department, they would no longer be working in the same department.

They would see each other much less frequently at work.

But this was acceptable; after all, Qiao Bing was a workaholic. Even when they were in the same department, Qiao Bing spent most of his time immersed in work.

Lin Dong was quite indifferent to becoming a chief.

His only desire in working at the hospital was to simply treat patients.

As for power, making money, and promotions, he didn’t care at all.

Moreover, his status as the Leader of the Southern Faction of Traditional Chinese Medicine was far more impressive than the position of the Director of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department at Jianghai Renmin Hospital.

As they talked, they reached the department.

At that moment, in the department, Lin Dong’s former colleagues began congratulating him one after another:

”Doctor Lin Dong, congratulations on becoming an even younger department head than Director Qiao Bing!”

”Truly young and promising; when I was your age, I wasn’t even an intern.”

”Such a young director, this must set a historical record!”

”...”

Huang Hua was in the crowd. Normally, he would have been the first one to oppose Lin Dong’s promotion to Director of the Chinese Medicine Department.

But now, he had no issues with it whatsoever.

He did not speak, but at that moment, an intern named Zhang Yao, who stood by his side, spoke enviously:

”I was wondering why the quota for interns to become regular employees went to Tan Ya. It turns out it was due to this connection!”

”This Lin Dong, appearing all sanctimonious, he probably has an affair with his intern Tan Ya!”

Every year, there are several hundred interns from various medical schools who come to Jianghai Renmin Hospital, but only about ten slots are available for them to become regular workers.

A few days ago, the hospital announced the list of those who would be kept on after their internship, and Lin Dong’s intern Tan Ya was unexpectedly on the list. As for Zhang Yao, she was clearly not.

Zhang Yao had been dwelling on this and was now even more envious upon seeing Lin Dong coming back from advanced training and immediately stepping up to become a chief.

In her mind, she concocted base thoughts, feeling that Tan Ya could stay because of Lin Dong’s influence.

She suspected Tan Ya had an affair with her mentor, Lin Dong.

Her murmuring was not loud, but Lin Dong, with his keen hearing, obviously heard it.

His gaze turned sharp as he looked over at her.

”Pop!!”

And just then, she received a heavy slap across her face.

Followed by a scolding:

”What kind of nonsense are you spouting? If you continue to make baseless accusations, believe it or not, I’ll cancel your internship qualification so that you can’t even graduate!”

Zhang Yao, holding her face, realized that the person who slapped her was not Lin Dong, but her mentor, Doctor Huang Hua.

She was confused and felt wronged.

Wasn’t her mentor, Doctor Huang Hua, the one who got along least with Lin Dong?

How come he had changed his tune now?

Just because she had grumbled a few bad words about Doctor Lin Dong behind his back, he slapped her in front of so many people.

He even threatened to cancel her internship qualification.

Previously, she had enjoyed when he would scold Lin Dong the most. So what was happening now with her mentor, Doctor Huang Hua?
