Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 939: Chapter 938: Admiral Candidate, King’s Blue Flames

As the words just fell, King had already transformed into an Aerodactyl, with icy glints flashing on his wings, rushing towards Blackbeard.

”Dan-Goku-Oh!”

The wings were like blades, and at an extremely high speed, the sound of a sonic boom echoed in the ears of everyone present, and two air blades were already slashing to the sides.

Before the attack even reached Blackbeard, people nearby were caught in the disaster.

There were no allies here, for King, everything here was a target to be killed.

”Get down!”

Laffitte, who came to Burgess’s side, pressed a few people down, and seeing the falling hair, even Ace felt a lingering fear, that strike almost took him along too.

Previously, he thought that if King dealt with Blackbeard, he could take the opportunity to get away, but now it seems King is even crazier than he imagined. Even three Navy Vice Admirals and ordinary captains of the Whitebeard Pirates have to avoid his sharpness.

Yet King was determined to kill Blackbeard in front of them, regardless of the consequences it might bring.

This was the traditional style of the Hundred Beasts; nowadays, before making a move, they would consider many things, like the impact afterward and hold back.

But once they started fighting, especially Kaidou, none of them considered the consequences anymore.

Impact?

They’re already fighting; talking about it afterward is futile.

Ace? Who’s that? Not familiar.

If a cadre of the Whitebeard Pirates died in the aftermath of a fight with a cadre of the Hundred Beasts Pirates, it would only be embarrassing to speak of.

”You see! This guy is a madman! He’s a high-level official of the Hundred Beasts, aren’t you the Navy? Isn’t capturing pirates your duty!”

Surrounded by the sea, Blackbeard alone couldn’t escape King’s pursuit. As King said, in front of Blackbeard, he was the overlord of the sky, and with the aerial advantage, King certainly wouldn’t let him go.

”Shut up, just a mere pirate, you’re not qualified to tell the Navy such things.”

Momousagi, real name Gion, Navy Headquarters Vice Admiral, but she also has another identity - Admiral Candidate.

Momousagi didn’t care how many pirates died in their infighting. Although she wasn’t an aggressive hawk, she was still a part of the Navy, and as an Admiral Candidate, she was different from ordinary Navy Vice Admirals.

Not only was she stronger, but her stance also had no issues.

It’s just that she couldn’t let Blackbeard die here like this.

The defeat of Crocodile had already embarrassed the World Government, and Blackbeard was originally introduced as a replacement for Crocodile to fill the vacancy of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.

As Blackbeard said, since Momousagi appeared here, his status as a member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea was already confirmed; being butchered just minutes after taking office as a Warlord... the World Government couldn’t afford such a blow to their image.

Konpira was drawn, and Momousagi’s blade was already aimed at King.

”Don’t be careless, that guy is a monster, a downright monster!”

Momousagi didn’t want to deal with Blackbeard, and Blackbeard didn’t want to deal with Momousagi either. If it weren’t for fear that Momousagi might face disaster at King’s hands, he wouldn’t have bothered to warn Momousagi.

But Blackbeard had no intention of stepping in either, hiding in the back. If Momousagi and the others really turned out to be no match, only then would Blackbeard assist; he didn’t want to reveal all his abilities in front of the Navy.

Although the Dark-Dark Fruit appeared in the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia, the abilities listed were only part of it, and some abilities Blackbeard figured out on his own.

The Dark-Dark Fruit helped him neutralize quite a bit of damage, but his body still bore fierce bloodstains, giving him a perfect reason to hide.

Also reacting were Yamakaji and Strawberry, but they weren’t joining the fight. Instead, they warily watched Blackbeard, as pirates weren’t that trustworthy, while they could trust their comrades with their backs, they couldn’t fully trust this so-called Seven Warlords of the Sea member.

The reason they let an Admiral Candidate like Momousagi lead two Headquarter Vice Admirals to the handover was that they worried there might be some conspiracy amidst this.

...

Clang!

Konpira struck on King’s wing, and an immense force surged up the blade. There was an inherent difference in gender between them, coupled with differences in size and race; King’s strength far exceeded Gion’s. If she took it head-on, Momousagi thought she would definitely be taken into the air by King.

Thus, she didn’t take it head-on; instead, she slid her wrist forward while assuming a stance similar to a backbend, using her arm and blade as pivots, sliding downward.

During this phase, her blade remained tightly against King’s body, attempting to make King injure himself with his momentum.

The idea was good, but reality was quite different. Konpira brought out a string of sparks on King’s body, yet not even a pebble was on the ground.

In terms of defense power, King in his burning state was even more terrifying than the Steel Type Jack. Without using Defend Barrier, King’s defense power was considered the best among the Hundred Beasts, and the name of the divine race of Lunarians wasn’t for nothing.

Moreover, King didn’t intend to attack Momousagi, as Blackbeard remained his primary target. After passing Momousagi, he continued charging towards Blackbeard.

”Bastard, do you really have to go against me, you madman!”

In his Aerodactyl state, King wielded his wings as blades, and Blackbeard had no choice but to use his hands to perform Dark Water to block King’s wings, but upon contact with King, an unexpected scene unfolded: King returned to human form.

The powers of a Devil Fruit were still restricted by the Dark-Dark Fruit, and Aerodactyl was still a modified Pteranodon. Upon contact, King could still use skills, but couldn’t maintain his transformation state, and the Mega Form automatically exited.

Upon exiting his Beast Form, their actions looked as if Blackbeard was holding onto King’s arms.

”Zehahaha, it seems my ability is still effective, you aren’t entirely immune either!”

”Yeah, quite a troublesome power, but did you think this was enough?”

”Fool! What are you standing there for! Aren’t you going to make a move at this point!”

He wanted the Navy to fight King, and in truth, the Navy was thinking similarly, so they didn’t immediately make a move.

But Blackbeard panicked; his Dark-Dark Fruit wasn’t like Seastone, capable of directly weakening a power user, and to this day, he didn’t know what peculiar ability King had.

A sense of crisis surged within Blackbeard, prompting him to shout.

Though the Navy was observing, when a chance truly arose, they wouldn’t stand by idly. Strawberry and Yamakaji’s attacks arrived simultaneously, and Momousagi’s slash followed closely, aimed at King’s neck.

The trio’s attacks landed on King’s body, but the sensation from their hands told them they didn’t actually harm King.

Taking advantage of their joint attack, Blackbeard managed to break free from King, and under their combined assault, King was also blown some distance away.

But in the next moment, King’s body underwent another transformation.

”His fire disappeared?”

”No, it’s not gone, his fire... has turned blue!”
