Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 344: The Sacrificial Ritual

The pillars of light from the blood-red sacrificial ritual shone upon the dome, piercing through every tributary extending from the Earth Vein.

After another reflection of light, the entire underground city was shrouded in dark red.

The brilliance of the Earth Vein was obscured, and the power of the ritual destroyed the man-made creations.

Even the exposed Earth Vein was left with only a bit of residual light at its edge.

The sacrificial ritual was using the power of the Earth Vein to maintain its operation, which covered more than half of the residential area.

At this moment, the people who were awakened by this strange phenomenon opened their windows, walked out of their doors, and looked at this scene that was like the end of the world.

Some were shouting for the Earth Patrol Team, while others were complaining about whether the people from the extraordinary research base were conducting an experiment.

When the sacrificial power of the ritual began to activate, they saw with their own eyes that someone near the pillar of light was being plundered of their flesh and blood.

At this moment, they finally understood that this was not some experiment, nor was it a joke played on them by the base.

This was really the end.

At this moment, they had no more morning temper, nor any more wishful thinking.

Their eyes were only filled with disbelief, looking at the person whose flesh and blood were being devoured by the ritual, the desperate look of struggle in their eyes at the last moment.

People only knew to run.

Only by escaping from here was there a chance of survival!

At this moment, this prosperous underground city, this jungle of steel, the tents on the roadside, the homeless people who survived in the trash cans, finally realized the seriousness of the problem.

The blood-red pillars of light emanating from those buildings seemed to have turned the residential area into a huge sacrificial altar.

No one could leave from here.

Under the push of the Earth Vein, the Earth Vein energy carried the blood-colored blood qi and the power of the abyss, as if driving a meat grinder, crazily harvesting flesh, blood, and soul-substance.

They gathered into a huge force above the urban area, like a giant ball of flesh and blood.

From within, there were silent wails.

The soul-substance with its memories writhed in the blood ball, and in the end, it only formed a wailing face on the outside that was no longer human-like, letting out a piercing roar.

And at this moment, the people from the Earth Patrol Team had also been urgently dispatched, but they were helpless in the face of such a situation.

Those outsiders who had been settled down, some of whom were transcendent academy students who had just fallen asleep, were also awakened by such a strange phenomenon.

They looked at the suffocating sense of oppression, which made them feel breathless even though they were separated by the dream and reality.

”What... what is going on here?”

The students from the transcendent academies who had walked out of their residences and gathered in the street looked at all this happening in a daze, and then looked at each other.

If they were to fight someone, perhaps they would be eager to try, but in the face of a change that was like a natural disaster, many people were at a loss.

”This... seems to be a blood sacrifice ritual?”

At this moment, even Tan Han was a little unsure, but the commotion it caused, and the bloody means, it was a very evil ritual anyway.

”Let’s go and find the Earth Patrol Team and the people from the base first. We alone may not be able to help them,” Tan Han said simply, and then took action.

After all, just standing here and doing nothing was useless.

Then, Tan Han used a spell to stand on a high rooftop, looking at the center of all the disasters not far away.

A huge ball of flesh and blood had gathered there, and a figure was standing in the air.

It seemed that was the culprit of all this.

At this moment, many students from the transcendent academies also appeared at this moment.

Most of them, like Tan Han, went to a high place to observe and understand the situation.

After understanding the general situation, they also subconsciously looked at each other.

Although there was no verbal communication, they seemed to have reached a consensus.

Disaster had already come.

As one of the strong combat forces here, they would naturally subconsciously try to stop this disaster from happening.

This sense of destiny of danger coming made most people subconsciously make their own choices.

But when they stepped into the range of this sacrificial ritual, they immediately felt a bad feeling.

As they got closer, they witnessed with their own eyes that everything here had become a ”dead zone.”

The people who were shouting and running in the street were having their flesh and blood disintegrated under the blood-red power, until death.

But as outsiders, they knew very well that they had no real flesh and blood, but they still felt a strangeness in themselves.

”Be careful! This strange blood sacrifice ritual not only plunders people’s flesh and blood, but also their soul-substance! Those with injured soul-substance should not come close! And don’t follow!”

At this moment, after feeling this strangeness, Tan Han immediately shouted to the crowd.

Hearing this shout, many people were so scared that they dared not move forward.

After all, they had personally experienced or witnessed what it was like to have their soul-substance damaged.

That kind of outcome was a complete death!

The fear in their hearts hindered a large number of people from moving forward.

It was the fear of death.

They stopped in their tracks, just like in the academy’s competition at the beginning.

When they heard that people would die, no one would compete for the position of class president.

Some people’s cowardice would never change just because they had mastered power.

”Big Sis Tan Han! Don’t go! Didn’t you say that it would plunder a person’s soul-substance there!”

”So what? If no one goes, are we going to wait for that monster to completely complete the ritual, and then all of us will just wait to die...”

Tan Han did not stop her steps, her tone was flat, but she continued to move forward as usual, without any hesitation or retreat.

Didn’t Tan Han know the danger in this?

She knew very well.

She was also one of the first to react in the face of danger.

She knew very well that there were some things she had to do, and she could not show a trace of flinching.

Even if she had originally come here just to seek answers and did not want to risk her life, she understood that if she did not fight for some things, then she would always be kept in the dark.

Wasn’t she controlled by fate?

Then she would break fate.

She would choose the most difficult path to temper herself.

This was no longer just a struggle against fate, but also a tempering of her own will.

She needed to grow, not just in strength.

”More troublesome bugs have come. Go, swat all these bugs.”

This Nightmare Demon circulated her power, controlling a part of the power of the flesh, blood, and soul-substance gathered by the sacrificial ritual to separate out.

Instantly, the blood-red light shone brightly, and a series of humanoid monsters separated from the blood ball, then turned into the appearance of a Nightmare Demon, and went towards the transcendent academy students who were rushing over.

They were the inferior Nightmare Demons that were simply refined by the real Nightmare Demon, and also the most favorite means for the Nightmare Demons to clear out the weaklings.

Those Nightmare Demons were only implanted with one thought, and that was to kill those who came to attack.

They didn’t even have the ability to think independently or speak like the previous Nightmare Demons, but as long as their combat power was sufficient, it was fine.

In the next moment, their figures slipped into the dream and had a fierce collision with those outsiders.

Instantly, spells flew in the sky, and divine arts judged.

With a sweep of a giant sword of holy light, the power of the holy light purified those filthy things in an instant.

Such a magnificent scene appeared in the sky of the underground city, which naturally attracted the attention of most people.

They subconsciously looked at that person from the Holy Angel Academy, Aqier.

This person’s feat of taking away the Wizard Academy with one blow in the previous Dream State Exchange Competition was enough for him to be remembered by everyone.

And at this moment, everyone also realized that the power of the holy light seemed to be extremely effective against the other party’s means.

Without much thought, everyone also moved closer to the Holy Angel Academy, faintly centering on them.

Even Tan Han could clearly see the pros and cons in this at this moment, and instantly made a decision to assist the students of the Holy Angel Academy to launch the final killing blow on that monster.

”Holy angels... what a troublesome race.”

The Nightmare Demon who had been watching the entire battle frowned after seeing the other party’s means.

They, the Abyssal Demons, hated these birdmen who mastered the holy light the most.

This was an irreconcilable hatred.

After all, whether it was the transcendent holy angels represented by the Holy Angel Academy or the Abyssal Demon transcendent race of the abyss, they both belonged to the transcendent level of racial forces.

And the fundamental power systems they mastered were in conflict.

The opposition between order and faith, chaos and sin, was carved into their bones.

But she was still full of confidence.

The other party was just a group of bugs that could only be trapped in the dream.

The only one that needed to be paid attention to was being held back by Ninglan Qiuyu.

She was not worried that Ninglan Qiuyu could not hold back that guy.

She was very skilled in controlling human nature, and her understanding of Destiny was very clear.

The Destiny of Ninglan New City was closely related to that extraordinary item.

And that was the true ritual of the City Lord’s succession.

When he shouldered that Destiny, then he would be protected by Ninglan New City.

Of course, the price of the protection was that the entire Ninglan New City would bear that impact for him.

To some extent, this was a dynamic balance.

The City Lord represented the absolute dominance of Ninglan New City.

I believe it won’t be long before Ninglan New City may usher in an even more terrifying impact of the energy tide.

But what does this have to do with them, the Nightmare Demons?

Destiny is dead, but people are alive.

Destiny is used in this way.

They, the Nightmare Demons, were not the life of the main world, so they naturally could not use themselves to seize the Destiny.

So this required a carrier.

The fact that Ninglan New City had Destiny meant that Ninglan New City itself was a natural carrier of Destiny, or that there was something in Ninglan New City that could carry the Destiny for a long time.

Later, she discovered that there was indeed such an existence in Ninglan New City, an extraordinary item!

That was a good thing that could only be encountered by chance.

The formation of an extraordinary item was extremely coincidental.

There were so many transcendent races in the void, but no one could say that they had a skill that could stably produce extraordinary items.

Of course, this did not include those crazy witches.

The things that those idle witches did were sometimes more terrifying than their Abyssal Demons.

It was precisely because there were too many variables in the ritual required for the birth of an extraordinary item that extraordinary items were more often positioned as ”collectibles.”

Because of the popularization of alchemy, there were a large number of alchemical items that could replace extraordinary items.

But extraordinary items also had an advantage, that is, the upper limit was extremely high, and similarly, the lower limit was also extremely low.

So after this Nightmare Demon saw that extraordinary item, she had a corresponding plan.

Originally, before seeing this, she was still thinking of using the fluctuation of Destiny generated by the change of the City Lord to forcibly seize the Destiny with a plundering ritual.

But after seeing this extraordinary item, she understood that this idea was probably going to fail.

How could she not see that the main body of that extraordinary item was a main world Seed of Destiny?

So conventional means could not plunder the Destiny of the Seed of Destiny at all!

Even if it was just a Seed of Destiny that had lost its former owner.

...

During the period when the sacrificial ritual broke out, the Earth Patrol Team headquarters was already in a mess.

They had just gone to the surface to carry out the suppression of the old forces, and now they had encountered this kind of thing again before they had a chance to rest after returning to the underground city.

This sense of helpless despair made the people of the Earth Patrol Team feel that they were just onlookers, and could not help at all.

This gap between expectation and reality made it difficult for them to accept.

They were clearly the ones who protected this underground city, but now they could do nothing.

They could only watch as those people were deprived of their flesh and blood in an unknown blood-red ritual array, and died until they could not die anymore.

”Damn it! Are you playing with us!”

”Hey! Don’t do anything stupid! We in the Earth Patrol Team only get that little dead salary every day. What are you risking your life for!”

”Am I risking my life! That’s my home, do you understand what that means! I just want to blow up all those glowing pillars...”

”All of you, shut up! What are you talking about? Do you still look like the Earth Patrol Team!”

”Cap... Captain... that’s my home! I still have... in my home...”

”Then come with me. Don’t waste time. Go to the base to get the heavy firepower killer. Damn

it... everyone, come with me! The unofficial team is responsible for the evacuation of the urban personnel. Get moving!”

At this moment, what happened in the underground city was no longer a personal matter, but a matter for everyone.

Even those who were barely getting by on that little bit of money every day, if they didn’t work hard at this moment, they wouldn’t even have the right to survive.

They were facing an unknown enemy, and also a massacre that had never been seen in history.

Even if this matter was over, it would become an indelible scar on the underground city of Ninglan New City.

In the face of such an enemy, some people flinched, and some people stood firm.

But no matter what, those ordinary people who chose to pick up weapons and fire at an enemy they could not resist would be the most dazzling heroes in this massacre with no suspense.

And on the other side, with such a dangerous situation happening in the underground city, some important figures naturally could not just sit here and wait to die.

”City Lord, quick... leave here first. The underground city is in a sudden crisis and is no longer safe. We will escort you up first.”

Some of the city guards who had stayed behind in the underground city were escorting a young man to the elevator to the surface in a rather hurried manner.

No one felt that there was anything wrong with this.

At such a critical moment, anyone could die, but the next City Lord absolutely could not!

As long as the City Lord was still there, the banner of faith would not fall.

In the face of any difficult problem, there was still the City Lord to bear it.

For any major decision, only when the decision-maker had given the order could the huge organization of Ninglan New City operate.

Until they reached the elevator platform without encountering any danger, the group of city guards were barely relieved.

But these city guards did not notice anything wrong with the City Lord they were escorting, whom they revered.

Faced with these people who had gone through so much trouble to get him here, a casual smile appeared on the corner of his mouth as he quietly waited for the elevator to take them to the surface.

When they reached the surface and met up with the city guards who were guarding here, someone also proposed that all the city guards go down to support.

After all, no accident could happen in the underground city.

If an accident happened in the underground city, then the coming beast tide would most likely cause irreparable losses to Ninglan New City.

And just at this time, news from the City Defense Army also came.

This beast tide was much earlier than expected, and it was also more ferocious than the last beast tide.

Without support, the first line of defense of Ninglan New City would be completely lost, and the City Defense Army could only retreat to the rear line of defense.

”Misfortunes really never come singly...”

At this moment, everyone looked at the trusted City Lord they were following and said, ”City Guard, take all the current extraordinary armaments to support the front line.”

”But City Lord, the underground city...”

”Block the main passage between the underground city and Ninglan New City to prevent the disaster from spreading to the main urban area of Ninglan New City.”

”But the underground city is...”

”Don’t you understand what I’m saying! Is the loss of the underground city more serious or the loss of the entire Ninglan New City more serious!”

”Yes...”

”Ninglan Qiuyu” watched as the city guard assembled, and the strange smile on the corner of his mouth became even stronger.

This way... the underground city would be isolated and helpless.
