Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 325: The Arrival of the Others in the Underground City

”I really didn’t expect there to be such a large area beneath Ninglan New City.”

At this moment, in a rather remote settlement area of the underground city, several young girls were huddled together in an extremely small dwelling.

”I didn’t expect it either. What is that huge glowing thing? It can actually illuminate such a large area.”

”Big Sis Tan Han, how is it? Have those annoying city guards left?”

At this moment, Minian came to Tan Han’s side and asked.

”Hmm... huh?”

Tan Han, who had just dismissed her summoning spell, finally reacted and turned to look at the concerned crowd.

”They’ve left. It seems this place is really as Ninglan Qiuyue said; the methods of that Ninglan New City’s Lord are not enough to control this place.”

After Tan Han finished speaking, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

”Then... what should we do next?”

Minian, who had the best relationship with Tan Han, asked.

Faced with the current situation, none of the girls had a good solution.

Previously, they had been thinking of gathering some intelligence in Ninglan New City, and that everything would gradually get better.

But no one could have predicted that things would develop like this.

The City Lord had completely changed his attitude towards outsiders and even opened his arms to their enemies, the Nightmare Demons.

For them, this was undoubtedly a betrayal.

If it weren’t for Ninglan Qiuyue’s help in getting here, they probably would have been driven out of Ninglan New City.

But even in their current state, it was no different from being driven out.

”Yeah, what next? Those city guards are gone, but it’s not certain that we’re welcome here either. And this place we’re in now... it’s too crowded, isn’t it? It’s almost nighttime, are we going to squeeze together here for a night?”

Although it was the girls’ first time here, their impression of this place was extremely poor.

They found it hard to imagine spending the night here.

”That... I think he was called the captain of the Earth Patrol Team. It seems he has some friendship with Ninglan Qiuyue. Didn’t he say he would come to find us after helping us deal with those city guards? We’ve been waiting here for a long time, right?”

”I’m not sure. Maybe they were haggling before. Didn’t Big Sis Tan Han say the other party had already left? He should be back soon.”

”That person probably won’t be coming over, at least not for a short while,” Tan Han joined the conversation at this moment, speaking with a confident tone.

”Huh? No way? Is he lying to us?”

Hedi, who was squatting in a corner, asked.

”No, he just went to receive someone more important,” Tan Han shook her head and said.

”We are insignificant to him. And even without him, we know now that the city guards are gone. But we also need to be careful here. We still don’t know what the attitude of the people here is towards us outsiders.”

”So that means we can go out now?”

”We can indeed go out now. I also need to go out for a trip,” Tan Han nodded and said.

She had said what needed to be said.

Everyone present was not someone who would treat their own life as a joke.

”Huh? Big Sis Tan Han, are you going to act alone?”

”Yes, I’m going to meet someone.”

”Meet someone? Meet... Big Sis Little Han? Are you going to meet Big Sis Little Han?”

Minian asked and quickly reacted.

There weren’t many people here that Big Sis Tan Han would deliberately go to meet.

Ninglan Qiuyue was one, Ninglan Qiuyu was another, but they weren’t here right now.

And that captain of the Earth Patrol Team was not on the list.

So it seemed it could only be Big Sis Little Han.

After all, the last time Big Sis Tan Han said she was going to find someone, the person she went to see was Big Sis Little Han.

”Yes, I didn’t expect you to guess it,” Tan Han said, slightly surprised.

”It really is? Big Sis Tan Han, you said before that Big Sis Little Han was missing. So she came here a long time ago? Can you take me with you? Big Sis Little Han has been here for so long, I want to seek refuge with her!”

”I’m afraid not. If you also go, or if everyone else goes, there will be too many people. And I’m also going over to ask some questions.”

”Alright, I was just kidding. I know I would just be a burden if I went. Then we’ll wait here for your good news, Big Sis Tan Han... Wait, Big Sis Tan Han, how do you know Big Sis Little Han is here? Did you see her?”

”I did see her. The person that captain of the Earth Patrol Team was receiving just now was Little Han... Little Han’s status here seems to be quite high, to the point where the people here and the Earth Patrol Team can directly protect her from those city guards.”

Speaking of which, Tan Han recalled the scene she had just seen through the shared vision.

It made her a little disbelieving, but when she thought of the other person being Little Han, it seemed a lot more reasonable.

”What? Big Sis Little Han has such a high status here? How did she do it? Then if we...”

”Alright, don’t always think about relying on others. If so many of us go over, we’ll only cause trouble for Little Han. Don’t you understand?”

”I understand, I understand... I was just saying, just saying... don’t take it seriously. I was just sighing about how useless I am... When I think about the bad things I said about Big Sis Little Han before, I feel like... I’m the useless one.”

”Alright, don’t belittle yourself too much. It’s enough to face yourself squarely,” Tan Han said, then opened the door and went out alone.

Watching Tan Han’s departing figure, the group of young girls looked at each other.

They had come down too hastily this time, and many of their companions didn’t even have a chance to come down, let alone other transcendent academies.

”What do you guys plan to do?”

”I don’t know. Let’s wait for Big Sis Tan Han to come back.”

”I have to take care of Lan Baihui. Her condition is not good.”

”Su Ningmu, your condition isn’t good either. Don’t push yourself like this.”

”I was just injured in my soul-substance by that thing. Lan Baihui had her soul-substance directly absorbed by that Nightmare Demon. I know I can’t do anything well right now, so I’m trying to do what I can. You guys too. We can’t just rely on Big Sis Tan Han, or Big Sis Little Han. It was like this during the exchange competition, and it’s still like this now that we’ve encountered such a situation.”

”Alright Su Ningmu, now is not the time for complaining.”

”I’m not complaining...”

”Alright then. Now that Big Sis Little Han is not here, and Big Sis Tan Han is not here either, now is truly our moment. So let’s think, with our current situation and abilities, what can we do for the current situation?”

”Nothing.”

Someone’s words silenced everyone.

After all, they knew themselves very well.

How long had they been enrolled as first-year students?

Because of the opportunities in the competition and exchange competition, they had obtained a majority of the Magic Power Sources and spellbooks.

They had learned half-baked theoretical courses in class, learned about Elemental Theory, transcendent common sense, and the Witch Meditation Method, and then there was combat training.

But what was the use of all this?

At least here, it was useless.

They had even been driven here by those city guards.

They were already scared out of their wits in the face of death.

”I won’t cause any trouble for everyone. I’ll meditate first.”

”I’ll meditate to pass the time too.”

”I have a summoning spell, but I don’t have the set of visual sharing or anything like Big Sis Tan Han’s to get real-time information. But I can send it out to understand the situation outside and have it communicate with me when it comes back.”

”I’m quite confident in my own strength. I should be able to protect myself. I’ll go out and see if there’s anything going on.”

Gradually, everyone started to take action, one by one.

Even those who were not capable at least had to ensure that they would not cause trouble for others.

---

Underground city, extraordinary research base.

When I arrived here, some scholars immediately surrounded me.

After seeing the difficult problems they had encountered, I couldn’t help but sigh.

It was still too much to hand these problems over to scholars who had only been exposed to Runology for a few days.

Even if they all had a very deep foundation in inscriptions, it was still the same.

Their thinking couldn’t switch over, even for scholars.

After solving their problems, I intended to leave.

After all, I had planned to go back after coming up for some air, but I was forcibly invited over.

”Is Scholar Little Han leaving?”

”Yes, I’m used to sleeping early. You all shouldn’t stay up too late either. Anyway, I can’t understand this behavior of yours.”

After a simple farewell to these scholars, I chose to leave directly.

Anyway, I should be coming over again tomorrow, but it won’t be as enthusiastic as before, because my main idea has basically been completed, and what needs to be completed now is just a weapon against the Nightmare.

That thing is dispensable to me.

But when I walked out of the base, I saw a familiar figure at a glance.

”Hmm hmm huh? Big Sis Little Han, you’re out!”

”Mm,” I responded simply, then my gaze shifted from this cute cat girl Fool’s Dream to another person beside her.

”Tan Han, you’re a bit slower than I expected.”

”Is that so?”

Tan Han also put down her right hand that was stroking the Fool’s Dream’s ear and looked at me.

”Then do you have time now?”

”I have time. Ninglan Qiuyue told me you had something you wanted to ask me. It’s related to this, right?”

I gently stroked the Fool’s Dream that ran towards me, patted her head, and then let her go back first.

After all, it was almost night now and it wasn’t suitable to stay outside any longer.

And at this time, Big Sis Bai also walked over from behind me.

”Hello, senior,” Tan Han politely greeted Big Sis Bai behind me, and Big Sis Bai also simply responded.

Then Tan Han’s gaze turned back to me.

”Little Han, may I... speak with you alone?”

”Hmm... you may.”

I tilted my head and glanced at Big Sis Bai, then said, ”In that case, let’s go back first. This isn’t a suitable place to talk.”

”Thank you.”

”What are you thanking me for? I’m still a little curious about how you all are doing now. It’s still some distance from where I live. Do you mind telling me about it?”

I led Tan Han and Big Sis Bai and prepared to return to my residence.

Along the way, I also learned a lot from Tan Han, such as the current situation in Ninglan New City before they came down, or how many ordinary students affected by this incident Tan Han and the others had gathered, and how many students were now in the underground city, and what difficulties the others would face, and so on.

Of course, Tan Han also learned a lot of information from me, such as the current situation in the underground city, the attitude of the people here towards outsiders, and so on.

Of course, what I was more concerned about was the means they had personally experienced that could harm the soul-substance.

According to Tan Han, not many of the city guards had mastered that kind of means.

The style was just the same as the weapons they were usually equipped with, that is, cold weapons like long spears.

Once stabbed, according to the description of the injured, it was a piercing pain.

The feeling of life force draining away would subconsciously trigger the deepest fear of death in one’s heart.

And when a person’s soul-substance was damaged, the consciousness body in the dream would appear abnormally transparent.

The more serious this injury, the higher the transparency of the body.

This feeling of watching oneself step into death step by step was very bad, and could even cause a person to have a mental breakdown.

”We’re here. This is it.”

I led Tan Han into this hotel.

It was naturally not comparable to the Ninglan Xiang Hotel in Ninglan New City, but this also required comparison.

Compared horizontally with other places in the underground city, it was much better.

”Mm, let’s go in first,” I said to Tan Han, then looked at Big Sis Bai.

”Big Sis Bai, I’ll just chat with her for a while.”

”Alright, I know. Go on.”

After getting Big Sis Bai’s reply, I also went straight back to my room and closed the door.

As the door was locked from the inside, I looked at Tan Han.

”Sit down, just find a place to sit. Ninglan Qiuyue said you have a question to ask me, so go ahead,” I said, and regardless of whether Tan Han was being polite with me, I sat down on the bed at once, then sat in the most comfortable position and looked at Tan Han.

”Little Han... I want to ask you a question.”

Tan Han’s demeanor suddenly changed, and her tone was not the same as before.

And what was more crucial was that Tan Han released a soundproof spell.

”Go ahead,” I also became serious at this moment.

”Have you ever felt at any moment that you were being toyed with by fate?”

”Toyed with by fate?”

Hearing Tan Han talk about this topic, I was stunned for a moment, but then I was relieved.

”Why do you ask? I thought you were the one who cared least about this kind of thing. After all... what was your talent called again, Spirit Eye?”

”Yes, Spirit Eye. An ability that can help me see through fate. Many of the choices I’ve made can be said to be related to it.”

”What? Are you thinking of resisting now?”

I asked with a smile.

Although what Tan Han saw was not fate but Destiny, she had guessed it pretty much.

Wasn’t the script her fate?

”Resist now... no, I’ve always been resisting. The power that Spirit Eye gave me, I couldn’t refuse. I had to master every bit of power to resist the so-called fate. But I found that I seemed to be wrong... the more I resisted, the more fate laughed at my incompetence.”

”And then? What is the source that drives you to resist? Do you want... freedom, or do you not want to be manipulated for no reason?”

I continued to ask.

Fate, this kind of thing... was naturally something that was not pleasing to the eye, but I didn’t expect Tan Han to talk to me about this at this moment.

”I don’t know. I only know that I don’t want this kind of life. It’s as if... from the moment I entered the Witch Academy, everything I knew has changed. Little Han, you must know something, right? Before... the awakening of the Spirit Eye was related to you. After that, you kept your distance from me. You must have noticed something, right! What do you know, can you tell me?”

”I don’t know anything. Also, the reason I kept my distance from you before was because of Big Sis Bai. Maybe she was jealous. Later... it was cleared up...”

I immediately started to lie with my eyes open.

After all, I couldn’t go into detail about this.

After all, the contract I signed was not just for show.

”You’re lying... Little Han, has anyone ever told you that you have no talent for lying?”

”Then what answer do you want to get from me?”

Seeing my words being mercilessly exposed by Tan Han, I didn’t show any expression, and tried my best to maintain a deadpan face.

”I want to know... what are you... the teachers, and even... the Academy Head... hiding from me? Don’t play dumb anymore! Yang Yuehan! Even if you refuse, then please give me a clear refusal. I can pretend I never asked these questions...”

”Alright then... I refuse.”
