From Folly to Fortune：I Rewrite My Life After Rebirth!

Chapter 997: Chapter 993: Holiday Pork (Part 2)

”Mom, what’s wrong with raising pigs? Isn’t it work?” Mu Dalang argued.

”Hey, are you saying I shouldn’t speak?” Mrs. Lin retorted.

Mr. Mu was somewhat unhappy with Mrs. Lin’s tone.

”Second daughter-in-law, let Dalang explain himself, keep quiet!” Mr. Mu said.

”Dad, didn’t you hear him say it’s that brat from the third branch who wants a pig farm? He’s obviously bewitched by that brat.

Now that brat is the shopkeeper of the restaurant, she’s definitely saying things she shouldn’t in front of Dalang.”

Mrs. Lin looked determined.

Mu Shuangshuang made her lose four taels of silver and almost got kicked out by her brothers, Mrs. Lin still remembered that.

In Mrs. Lin’s heart, she had already considered Mu Shuangshuang a mortal enemy.

As long as Mu Shuangshuang was around, Mrs. Lin would make a fuss.

”Enough, you keep saying ’that brat,’ can’t you let us eat?” Mr. Mu said.

Mrs. Lin turned her head away angrily, no longer speaking.

Mu Dalang continued.

”Ever since Wang Erma went to prison, no one has been raising or slaughtering pigs in our village.”

”I think it’s a good job, but our village doesn’t have a place for me to slaughter and raise pigs.”

”Plus, I don’t have any money on hand, so I had to ask Shuangshuang for her opinion.”

Mr. Mu listened attentively, he felt Dalang was right.

Now people in the village have to go more than ten miles away to town to buy some meat.

It’s really inconvenient.

”But why did it end up being Shuang who opened the pig farm?” Mr. Mu asked.

Mu Dalang smiled bitterly, ”Grandpa, I have no funding, can’t buy land, can’t afford pigs, only have my strength.

It just so happens that Shuang wants to build a pig farm to supply pork for her restaurant, so I thought of working at her pig farm.

Firstly, to learn, secondly, to save some silver, and when it’s enough, I’ll start my own pig farm.”

Mr. Mu nodded repeatedly.

”It’s a good idea, more thoughtful than your dad and uncles. You work there first, when your big uncle returns, I’ll have him fund a pig farm in our village, how about that?”

Mr. Mu’s words left Mu Dalang astonished.

He hadn’t even asked his grandpa, how did he agree?

”No way, if Dalang leaves, who will work the fields at home?” Old Mrs. Mu countered.

”Grandma, Shuang is paying me, three taels of silver a year, I don’t have to spend anything, the food and accommodations are covered. Whatever I earn from slaughtering and breeding pigs, I don’t want a penny, it all goes to the family.”

Talking about money, Old Mrs. Mu’s eyes brightened.

In Er Gui Village, few people raise pigs, and finding someone to castrate and breed pigs is impossible in nearby villages.

These two jobs are costly.

If Dalang does them, he’ll surely earn a lot.

At least five taels of silver a year.

Old Mrs. Mu relented: ”Then during the New Year and festivals, the meat has to be provided by Dalang. If you agree, I’ll let you go, if not, refuse that brat!”

During the New Year and festivals, calculating, at least fifty jin of meat a year, at fifteen wen per jin, that’s over seven hundred wen.

Mu Dalang gritted his teeth, calculating back and forth, unclear if he would profit or lose.

After some thought, he said: ”Bita is my wife, if I’m raising pigs, she has to follow.”

”No way, Huang Bita cooks, does laundry, if she leaves, who will cook and do the laundry for our family?” Old Mrs. Mu said.

Speaking of Huang Bita, Mu Danian joined in.

”I say, nephew Dalang, you’re quite shrewd, wanting to take two people for just six taels of silver.

Your third aunt only did lunch once a year for two taels of silver. Your wife earning three taels a year wouldn’t be an issue, right?”

Mu Danian’s point was clear.

Either Mu Dalang provides three taels more, totaling nine taels a year.

Or they remain at home doing chores.

Planting in spring, harvesting in summer, without a day’s rest.

Mu Dalang was silent.

Nine taels, he’d like to pay, but the problem is he doesn’t have it.

The investment for the pigsty is fifteen taels, which is the income of a regular family for three to five years.

What... what to do?

Huang Bita understood her husband’s dilemma, beneath the table, she pressed Mu Dalang’s hand.

Then she said: ”Grandpa, Grandma, Mom, I like working at home, in the fields.

How about Dalang goes out to work, and I stay home.”

”No, I don’t agree...” Mu Dalang replied.

”Dalang, listen to Grandma, let’s do it this way.” Huang Bita signaled to Mu Dalang.

Huang Bita knew if her husband stayed home, he’d have no chance to progress.

If they collaborate with Shuang this time.

When the first batch of pigs is sold, they can pay the Old Mu Family and earn nearly ten taels of silver themselves.

Relying on this money, they’ll have a chance for a better life.

Mu Dalang looked at his wife’s determined gaze, defeated, he nodded.

At the same time, Mu Danian’s smile was almost crooked.

He felt if Dalang went to raise pigs, he’d be home less.

Then, there’d be no one to protect that Bita from contempt.

He’d fix Huang Bita first, then let them compare.

Whether adultery was worse or theft was worse.

Mu Danian felt energized thinking about these.

Soon, he’d have Huang Bita begging under him.

-

At night, Mu Danian and Chen Hong went to Wang San’s house.

This was already their third visit to Wang San’s house.

But the old man surprisingly refused to find a wife.

This worried Mu Dalang and Chen Hong.

The man in the village most wanting to find a wife suddenly said he won’t, something felt wrong.

Under cover of night, they reached Wang San’s door.

Knocked on Wang San’s door.

The fifty-year-old man couldn’t compare physically to young Mu Danian, but disgustingly, Wang San wore just a pair of shorts.

The shorts were a yellowish-brown color, similar to dung, and at the front, there was a hole, exposing some things not meant to be seen.

Standing in front of Mu Danian, Wang San looked extremely sleazy.

If not for money, Chen Hong would never want to visit such a place, it was really repulsive.

Years ago, Wang Tiejiang and his wife sold her to someone like this.

Wang San gave Chen Hong a sidelong glance and said irritably: ”Don’t think just because your mother-in-law and eunuch husband sold you to me back then, I’ll accept you!”

”A filthy woman like you, I, Wang San, don’t want.”

Wang San’s every word was an insult to Chen Hong.

Chen Hong was so mad her mouth twisted, wishing she could tear Wang San’s mouth apart!

Mu Danian remained calm, thinking about Wang San’s money, no matter what Wang San said, he was not angry at this moment.

”Uncle Wang, we’re not introducing Chen Hong to you, why worry?”

”From Uncle Wang’s tone, seems you fancy someone, who is it?” Mu Danian asked.
