From Folly to Fortune：I Rewrite My Life After Rebirth!

Chapter 967: Chapter 963: Baked Pancakes for Five Wen Each (Part 2)

”What?” Mu Shuangshuang also looked puzzled.

Two coins for one baked pancake, isn’t five just ten coins?

Immediately, Mu Shuangshuang realized something.

She quickly apologized to Da Wu’s wife, ”Sister-in-law, the baked pancakes I just sold were all two coins each... I’m sorry!”

Lu Yuanfeng also realized.

Originally, Da Wu’s baked pancakes were sold for two coins in Shigou Town, sometimes for one coin each.

However, after tasting the benefits, once Mu Shuangshuang promoted them, the Sun Family’s baked pancakes have been five coins each, even now in Qingshan Town.

The Sun Family is still selling them for five coins each.

”It’s fine... it’s fine...” Da Wu’s wife awkwardly waved her hand.

The heartbreak in her eyes flashed quickly.

Mu Shuangshuang caught that look from Da Wu’s wife, and for a moment, didn’t know how to feel.

”Sister-in-law, let me help you push the stall inside!” Lu Yuanfeng said.

”No... no need, at this time, Father Xiao Zhu probably hasn’t finished cooking yet, I... I still want to sell baked pancakes for a while.

Shuangshuang, Fengzi, why don’t you both go back first?” Da Wu’s wife looked at her toes and said, unnaturally.

”Sister-in-law, we...” Lu Yuanfeng wanted to say something.

Interrupted by Mu Shuangshuang, ”Fengzi, since Sister-in-law wants to sell baked pancakes for a while longer, let’s first go to the market to buy some other things and see if we’ll need them tonight!”

Lu Yuanfeng knew Mu Shuangshuang wanted to say something.

He followed Mu Shuangshuang and walked in the opposite direction of the baked pancake stall.

Once Mu Shuangshuang and Lu Yuanfeng left, Da Wu’s wife quickly counted how many baked pancakes were left in the wooden basin.

The number of remaining baked pancakes showed that Mu Shuangshuang indeed sold five baked pancakes.

Daya didn’t know what her mother was doing, so she just watched her mother flipping the stall and counting the baked pancakes.

After a while, Da Wu’s wife suddenly spoke, ”Daya, help me... help me ask the uncle and aunt at the nearby stall, how much did Aunt Shuangshuang and Uncle Yuan Feng sell the baked pancakes for earlier!”

That feeling of having one’s things stolen struck her heart.

Sun Dawu’s wife had only one thought in her mind, which was that those five baked pancakes meant she lost fifteen coins.

Fifteen coins, enough for Xiao Zhu to eat at the school for a whole day.

Two dinners, one breakfast, and still have leftovers.

Her husband could also work less hard.

Daya followed her mother’s instructions and asked the nearby stall.

They were indeed two coins each.

Sun Dawu’s wife became increasingly confused.

She muttered, ”Obviously, the baked pancakes were five coins each, they always were, why were they sold for only two coins...”

Mu Shuangshuang dragged Lu Yuanfeng far away before stopping.

When she stopped, Mu Shuangshuang’s fists were clenched into a ball.

Lu Yuanfeng knew she was unhappy.

”Shuangshuang... is it because of what Sister-in-law said?” Lu Yuanfeng asked.

Then he said, ”Actually, it’s just a misunderstanding. Sister-in-law knows we sold the baked pancakes for two coins each and wouldn’t mind.”

”Fengzi, it’s not like that. Right now, Sun Dawu’s wife has only two thoughts.

First, we deliberately sold her cheap baked pancakes.

Second, we pocketed her money! Fifteen coins.”

Mu Shuangshuang’s professional experience from her previous life made her know what ’reading people’ meant; subtle emotions couldn’t escape her eyes.

”No... it shouldn’t be. We’re not that kind of people,” Lu Yuanfeng said.

”Sister-in-law should...” The comforting words, Lu Yuanfeng couldn’t finish.

Lu Yuanfeng knew that Shuangshuang never lied.

At least, in his heart, he believed Shuangshuang was always right.

”Fengzi, I feel I’ve made a mistake now!” Mu Shuangshuang said.

”What?”

”I shouldn’t have let Sun Dawu’s family taste the benefits on baked pancakes. A person who tastes the benefits in other matters, how would they be willing to work for others and live a poor life?

The idea of sending the child to our town for school only because studying in our town is cheaper than elsewhere, and the wages I originally gave Sun Dawu were two taels of silver a month.

On that day in Shigou Town, Sun Dawu earned 300 coins selling baked pancakes. If you go by that standard, that’s nine taels of silver a month.

Excluding unexpected expenses, a guaranteed five taels of silver a month. Sun Dawu takes two taels of silver from the hotel, making it seven taels a month.”

Seven taels of silver would be enough to turn a normally diligent and kind person into a demon.

”Maybe I’m thinking too seriously!” Mu Shuangshuang explained to Lu Yuanfeng, afraid to scare him.

Lu Yuanfeng shook his head, ”I asked Brother Wu why not find a disciple, let the disciple sell baked pancakes in the town, while he stays home counting money.

At that time, he hesitated and said he wanted to develop in Qingshan Town.”

Thinking along Mu Shuangshuang’s lines, things made sense.

Sun Dawu’s baked pancakes had no advantage at all in Qingshan Town.

Still selling them so expensively, it’s natural that no one would be interested.

Eventually, just like Shuangshuang said, if earning 300 coins a day and at least five taels a month was gone, would he still want to do the two taels a month job?

Mu Shuangshuang and Lu Yuanfeng were never malicious in judging anyone.

But neither were fools, being slaughtered like fat sheep without even realizing.

”Shuangshuang, this issue seems tricky, how many dishes have you taught Brother Wu?” Lu Yuanfeng first thought of this.

”One, that roast duck. I was planning to teach the rest slowly anyway, given how much time is left.

Also, the menu part was drafted with Brother Dahai, and Brother Wu isn’t very familiar with it yet.

Regarding the pickled mustard leaf pork pie from Shigou Town that I taught Brother Wu, I heard him say one day that ever since I made it once, he couldn’t make it well, often turning the pork pie into an oil cake.”

You must be aware of others; you must not intend harm.

Before the hotel officially opened, as the owners, Mu Shuangshuang and Lu Yuanfeng must consider all possibilities.

”Fengzi, for now, let’s leave it like this! Let’s observe for a few more days, and I won’t teach any more dishes, lest I inadvertently make wedding clothes for others,” Mu Shuangshuang said.

Lu Yuanfeng also found this reasonable.

The two of them headed towards the hotel together.

Sun Dawu’s wife waited for a long time in the market, finally, some customers arrived and asked about the price of the baked pancakes.

Her face changed.

”What kind of baked pancakes are these? Why are they more expensive than silver? Other people’s baked pancakes are only one coin or two coins each,” someone asked.

Sun Dawu’s wife said with a forced smile, ”We have Wu Dalang baked pancakes, which sell very well in Shigou Town. In our town, my baked pancakes are five coins each, and they’re really delicious.”

”Even if they’re delicious, you can’t sell them like this; they’re not made of silver, why sell them so expensively!” the person grumbled a few words and then turned to leave.
