From Folly to Fortune：I Rewrite My Life After Rebirth!

Chapter 969: Chapter 965: Staying Here? (First Update)

Due to this little episode, the three of them ended up going to the restaurant later than expected.

The staff at the restaurant were all absolutely starving.

The dishes were on the table, but they could only look and not eat.

Because the two young shopkeepers hadn’t arrived yet.

Yu Dahai was anxious, fearing the staff would go hungry.

So he said to everyone, ”If anyone is hungry, you can start eating first. The two owners and Da Wu’s wife might have been delayed on the road, they haven’t come yet.”

”Steward Yu, let’s wait a bit more! Miss Mu spoke to us all afternoon today; she must be hungry too. Let’s wait a little longer.” This was said by Gouyazi, who tended the fire in the kitchen.

He looked a bit dazed, and did things in a dazed way too.

But he was the first to stand up and suggest waiting for Mu Shuangshuang and Lu Yuanfeng.

As soon as Gouyazi spoke, everyone else chimed in, ”Steward Yu, we don’t mind waiting for Miss Mu and Mr. Lu to arrive.”

Just then, Mu Shuangshuang, Lu Yuanfeng, and the Sun family mother and daughter walked in.

”Owners, you’re finally here. We’ve been waiting for ages. Did you encounter any trouble?” Yu Dahai came up to them, asking with concern.

Mu Shuangshuang didn’t know how to respond.

For a moment, she froze and glanced at Sun Dawu’s wife.

At that moment, Sun Dawu’s wife was completely focused on her husband, Sun Dawu.

And she was already heading in Sun Dawu’s direction.

Seeing that Mu Shuangshuang was silent, Lu Yuanfeng explained, ”Earlier, our sister-in-law had a bit of trouble, which delayed us and wasted everyone’s time. We’re sorry!”

”No worries... it’s fine!” Yu Dahai waved his hand, continuing, ”Now that everyone’s here, let’s get ready to eat, just in time for everyone’s hunger to be satisfied. Fengzi, and Shuangshuang, you shouldn’t feel guilty, let’s fill our stomachs first and talk later!”

From an age perspective, Yu Dahai is an elder to Mu Shuangshuang and Lu Yuanfeng.

Plus, since Mu Shuangshuang and Lu Yuanfeng knew his sister Xiuxiu, Yu Dahai considered them family in his heart.

Running a restaurant before felt like working for someone else.

Now running a restaurant, to him, it’s like working for his own family.

As soon as Mu Shuangshuang and Lu Yuanfeng returned, the meal could formally begin.

Sun Dawu made several big dishes, with his apron still tied around his waist.

Da Wu’s wife went up to him, helping her husband pour tea for everyone.

Very soon, everyone was seated.

There was meat, wine, and beautiful women, so it was considered a relatively grand gathering.

”Today is the first day we, as the people of this restaurant, have gathered together. Although we haven’t opened yet, soon we can tell the people around us that we belong to Chengfeng Restaurant.

Tonight, everyone shouldn’t hold back. Eat and drink as much as you want!

In the future, let’s work together to manage the restaurant well, so that Qingshan Town knows that our Chengfeng Restaurant is the sole dark horse of the year.”

Mu Shuangshuang stood up and said to everyone.

Everyone followed with hearty laughter, their faces all glowing red.

However, some were curious and asked Mu Shuangshuang, ”Owner, what is a dark horse? Is it the same as the horses we ride?”

Everyone was curious, each holding their breath, staring at Mu Shuangshuang.

”You could say that, after all, we want to be the thousand-mile horse among horses, famous throughout the county,” said Mu Shuangshuang.

The men, upon hearing Mu Shuangshuang’s words, felt their blood boiling with excitement.

Cup after cup of wine went down, and their inner thoughts spilled out one after another.

Through these conversations, everyone gradually got to know the nature of the two owners.

Mu Shuangshuang was clever, knowledgeable, and did things differently from ordinary women.

Lu Yuanfeng, though not talkative, spoke very meaningfully with every word.

Almost every problem or suggestion he raised was practical.

One lively, one mature and steady, everyone felt that these two were a perfect match, sure to manage the restaurant well together.

After the meal, several staff members, including Sun Dawu, the only head chef, were drunk.

The wine for Mu Shuangshuang was mostly taken by Lu Yuanfeng, so her face was only slightly rosy, showing no signs of drunkenness.

Lu Yuanfeng, moreover, his drinking capacity was honed during his time in the military camp, where he and the commander would drink a pot together when there was nothing else happening.

But he would never allow himself to get drunk, as matters on the battlefield change in an instant.

One cannot relax for even a moment.

The restaurant had private rooms available for the staff to stay, albeit collective dormitories.

Only the steward could have a small single room.

The drunk staff were helped to the rooms by the sober ones, and from far away, one could hear the sound of the staff singing loudly, full of joy.

It seems today’s gathering was quite a success.

Lu Yuanfeng supported Sun Dawu, guiding him towards their home.

Mu Shuangshuang and Da Wu’s wife followed behind.

Because of the previous incident, Mu Shuangshuang didn’t pay much attention to Sun Dawu’s wife.

As for Sun Dawu’s wife, she didn’t notice anything odd about Mu Shuangshuang either, as she was preoccupied with her own matters.

After Lu Yuanfeng helped Sun Dawu into their home, he waited at the gate for Mu Shuangshuang and Sun Dawu’s wife.

”Fengzi, aren’t you and Shuangshuang going back to Er Gui Village today?” Sun Dawu’s wife asked as she entered, noticing that Shuangshuang and Lu Yuanfeng hadn’t intended to leave.

”Yeah! We stayed at the restaurant for too long today, so Fengzi and I will stay here tonight,” Mu Shuangshuang replied.

”Stay here?” Da Wu’s wife exclaimed, then continued, ”Are you talking about the other room? I thought you weren’t going to stay here anymore, so I let Daya stay there.

The room is now filled with Daya’s things and our clothes, I’ll tidy it up.”

Though she said she would tidy up, Da Wu’s wife didn’t immediately go do it.

Instead, she waited to see if Mu Shuangshuang and Lu Yuanfeng would stop her.

If it were before, Sun Dawu’s wife would have just gone and tidied it up.

It’s not a big deal.

But before dinner, the two of them helping to sell baked pancakes made Da Wu’s wife ponder many things.

”Sister-in-law, please help Daya tidy up. Fengzi and I will wait here,” Mu Shuangshuang said, smiling at Sun Dawu’s wife.

Only then did Sun Dawu’s wife reluctantly go to tidy up Daya’s room.

The Sun Dawu family had moved everything from Shigou Town to their new home here.

She felt the storage room was dirty and didn’t put anything there.

So all sorts of miscellaneous items were in Daya’s room, and tidying them up took the time of burning an incense stick.

Even after packing everything into a corner, the room still felt a bit cramped when Mu Shuangshuang entered.

Fortunately, the sheets and blankets she had kept in the cabinet were still there.

”Miss Shuangshuang, Fengzi, I won’t boil water for you. Father Xiao Zhu is very drunk, and I need to take care of him.”

”Sister-in-law, we will take care of ourselves; Brother Wu is drunk and needs someone to look after him!”
