From Folly to Fortune：I Rewrite My Life After Rebirth!

Chapter 993: Chapter 989: Cooperative Pig Farm (Second Update)

Huang Bita was startled by Mu Dalang’s actions, but she was even more afraid of Mrs. Lin’s retaliation.

After Mrs. Lin left, Huang Bita dove into Mu Dalang’s arms and started crying.

”There, there, don’t cry. Didn’t Shuangshuang say last time that the widower in Tie Dao Village is not living there anymore? His house is vacant. We can ask Shuangshuang for help to borrow some money, secure the house, and move out!”

Mu Dalang also felt his mother was excessive.

Like a lunatic.

Charging into her son’s room to curse his wife in the middle of the night.

He couldn’t take it anymore, not even for one more day.

Huang Bita shook her head, ”If Mother finds out, she definitely won’t agree.”

”I’ll make her agree. At worst, I’ll give her some money. After all, she loves money, and with money, she won’t care about anything else!”

After soothing Huang Bita, it was quite late into the night.

The next morning, Mu Dalang hurriedly went to Mu Shuangshuang’s room.

At this time, Mu Shuangshuang hadn’t gotten up yet.

However, Yu Si Niang was in the kitchen making breakfast. Seeing Mu Dalang, she tried to keep him for breakfast.

”Dalang, Shuangshuang is still sleeping. She said she wants to get up a bit later today.”

In the morning, the restaurant only makes some porridge and rice noodles, which don’t require Mu Shuangshuang’s help.

”Third Aunt, I... I’ll wait for Shuangshuang!” Mu Dalang said.

”Alright! Do you want to sit in the kitchen?”

The third branch house is small. To this day, it still only has two rooms: one kitchen and one pigpen.

Half of the pigpen was partitioned off as a storage area.

So when guests come, they either stay in Mu Dashan’s room or in the kitchen.

At this point, Yuanbao and Xiao Han were still sleeping in Mu Dashan’s room, and Yu Si Niang didn’t want to wake them.

”Okay!”

Mu Dalang waited for a long time, and it wasn’t until the sun rose that Mu Shuangshuang woke up.

By this time, Xiao Han and Yuanbao had gone to study.

Lu Yuanfeng came in from outside, carrying two wild rabbits.

As soon as he entered the kitchen, he handed the rabbits to Yu Si Niang.

”Oh dear, you child, why did you go into the mountain so early?” Yu Si Niang asked.

”I went to the mountain for a look and saw a lot of bracken sprouting up. In about ten days, we can go into the mountains to pick bracken.”

The people of Er Gui Village originally didn’t rely on Niuwei Mountain for survival, so whatever grew in the mountain mostly belonged to Mu Shuangshuang and Lu Yuanfeng.

”That’s perfect; Shuangshuang made me reserve a lot of cured meat back then. Bracken fried with cured meat is very delicious,” Yu Si Niang said while serving breakfast to Lu Yuanfeng.

Mu Dalang had come once before and left; this was his second visit.

Inside, Mu Shuangshuang heard the noise and got up from the bed.

After freshening up, she clamored to meet Mu Dalang.

Yu Si Niang mentioned that Mu Dalang had come very early to find her. While eating breakfast, Mu Shuangshuang occasionally looked up at Mu Dalang.

”Dalang, what did you come to see me about?”

”Shuangshuang, could you... could you lend me some money?” Mu Dalang said blushing, not daring to look at Mu Shuangshuang.

”What’s going on?” Mu Shuangshuang asked.

”Yesterday, my mother barged into the room with Bita and me, saying all sorts of nasty things.

I can’t stand it anymore. If this goes on, my mother will drive me crazy.”

When speaking about Mrs. Lin, Mu Dalang looked utterly pained, completely unlike someone telling lies.

”I want to move to Tie Dao Village, raise pigs quietly as a butcher, and keep Bita away from my mother.”

When close relatives are all thinking about escape, it’s clear how awful Mrs. Lin really is.

However, Mu Shuangshuang couldn’t just agree to this matter easily.

”Brother Dalang, the reason I only gave you advice previously without urging you to act immediately is because doing this costs quite a bit.

You need to buy Old Liu’s house along with the foundation and the plot to make the pigpen.

Just this one item alone won’t cost less than five taels of silver.

You also need to build the pigpen with precautions against fire and lightning; this alone requires an investment of three to five taels of silver.

In a previous life, Mu Shuangshuang saw a case where, due to certain reasons, an entire pigpen of pigs was struck by lightning.

Even in modern times it’s like this, and there’s no reason not to consider this in ancient times.

”Then there’s buying piglets, planting corn, which you’ll definitely need to handle on your own because otherwise, you’d rely entirely on buying feed, and that’s impossible.”

Mu Shuangshuang’s fish pond is in Tie Dao Village. In fact, she quite hoped Mu Dalang would move to Tie Dao Village; it would save them a lot of trouble later on.

However, all in all, without fifteen taels, you can’t set up a pig farm.

Mu Dalang, upon hearing this, became discouraged. Let alone fifteen taels; even five taels would be hard for him to scrape together.

Because that’s entirely an astronomical figure.

Seeing the disheartened Mu Dalang, Mu Shuangshuang felt bad as well.

However, she’s currently tight on money, with the restaurant just opened and the school operational...

Fifteen taels of silver, should she lend out all of it, she wouldn’t be at ease—unless she could partner in the pig farm and it could benefit the restaurant’s business.

Mu Shuangshuang suggested, ”How about this, Brother Dalang. Instead of borrowing money from me, let’s set up the pig farm through investment.

You have two taels of silver in hand; for a year’s pig farming, I’ll count as three taels for you as wages, tentatively set for two years. We’ll then calculate the pig farming costs afterward.

In this way, your investment comes to eight taels of silver. I’ll put in the other eight taels, and we’ll each own half of the pigpen.”

After Mu Shuangshuang finished, Mu Dalang still looked puzzled.

”But in reality, we only have ten taels of silver; where will the remaining six taels come from? It’s supposed to be my work, but where will the money be?”

”I’ll cover it. Pig farming isn’t easy work. You have to clean the pigpen, feed them, castrate them. Originally, it was a two-person job, but now it all falls on you. I won’t be working.”

With this calculation, Mu Dalang understood.

He’ll handle the pigpen’s management, while Shuangshuang won’t.

With this arrangement, fifteen taels of silver were easily taken care of, and he didn’t owe a penny.

”This plan is great! When our pig farm gets established, your restaurant can be fully supplied with our pork.

Let’s price it at eleven coins per pound; then we’ll split the eleven coins’ proceeds evenly.”

Eleven coins per pound of pork is cheaper by a coin than the normal restaurant purchase price.

”Alright!” Mu Shuangshuang nodded.

”Then let’s find Uncle Fu later to draw up a contract and get a move on setting up the pigpen.” Mu Dalang said.

Once the matter was settled, Mu Dalang happily left as if he had received candy.

Lu Yuanfeng directly gave Mu Shuangshuang a thumbs-up.

With a personal supplier for the restaurant, a cheaper price, and a share of the profits, it’s a great deal hard to find even with a lantern.

”How do you come up with such ideas, you girl?”

Yu Si Niang was listening the entire time, astonished by Mu Shuangshuang’s talk.

By the time she figured out the math, Mu Dalang had already left.

”Haha, I can’t help it. I’m naturally good with my brains!” Mu Shuangshuang said.

In just a short while, the third branch and Lu Yuanfeng’s enterprises gained a new addition—a pig farm.
