The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 133: Chapter 133: Can’t Reach Me

Sang Xuewei raised her head and said, ”Why not?”

She said in a mysterious tone, ”You haven’t told me yet, what’s your name?”

Xia Wenjin chuckled and said, ”You’re interested in Huang Zheng, why ask for my name?”

Sang Xuewei hummed, ”I get attached to what’s associated, is that not okay?”

Suddenly, Xia Wenjin, who was associated with ’what’s around’: ”...”

She rolled her eyes and said, ”My name is Xia Wenjin. Even if you get attached to what’s associated, it doesn’t include me; I’m not that close with Huang Zheng.”

”Really?” Sang Xuewei immediately got excited, ”Since you’re not that close, you surely won’t be together, right? You’re just playing around, right? I’ll help you find clues, in return, you leave Huang Zheng, how about that?”

”What kind of clues?”

Sang Xuewei confidently said, ”The unusual clues you are looking for.” She leaned in closer, ”I know, you came from the village at the foot of the mountain, investigating those missing girls, right? I can help you!”

Xia Wenjin glanced at her, ”You’re overthinking!”

The missing girls’ case is not that simple; the six people at that courtyard downhill are vicious and cunning. Just the thought of them using sparrows to send messages is baffling. However, the mastermind is even more cunning.

They know every move the six make, and once successful, they come to trade immediately, without even staying overnight. Moreover, they haven’t left a trace, even the clue left intentionally is fake.

Such people are bound to be vicious and cruel. If Sang Xuewei were to encounter them, wouldn’t she just be delivering a snack to them?

She scrutinized Sang Xuewei and asked curiously, ”You haven’t met Huang Zheng many times, right? What do you like about him?”

Mentioning Huang Zheng, Sang Xuewei’s expression immediately softened, and she said with shining eyes, ”Isn’t he so good-looking? He’s the most handsome man I’ve ever seen! And he’s capable, more capable than me!”

Looking at the infatuated Sang Xuewei, Xia Wenjin curled her lips, ”He is indeed good-looking, but he doesn’t like you. Is it necessary to take such risks for someone who doesn’t like you?”

”Why not?” Sang Xuewei confidently said, ”Huang Zheng doesn’t accept me because he’s not familiar with me and doesn’t know my goodness. Once I help you, he’ll surely look at me differently once he knows my capabilities. Moreover, you’re a man and I’m a woman, I have a natural advantage over you, what do you have to compete with me?”

Xia Wenjin: ”...”

Did she compete?

Isn’t she innocent too?

Sang Xuewei falls for any handsome man she sees, which is really similar to her past life.

She fell off a horse and woke up to find herself in a bridal chamber. At the time, she was also furious, not wanting to be married off randomly to a man. But upon seeing Huangfu Yuxuan, she immediately changed her mind.

Huangfu Yuxuan was too handsome, also the most handsome man she had seen. And in the bridal chamber, even though it was their first meeting, he was gentle, elegant, and dignified with no complaints, only endless care and consideration.

Her heart instantly fell, and afterwards, was the unbearable recollection of a bleak life.

Huang Zheng might not be such a person, but Sang Xuewei’s infatuation is very similar to hers back then.

Seeing Xia Wenjin glance at her with sympathetic eyes, Sang Xuewei asked in confusion, ”What do you mean?”

”Nothing much!” Xia Wenjin said, ”The scenery here is nice. You’ve been pestering me; do you want to enjoy the scenery with me, or do you think I’m better looking than Huang Zheng and want to change your mind?”

Sang Xuewei spat, ”Do you think you’re better looking than Huang Zheng? So skinny and short!” Then, she turned and walked away.

Xia Wenjin: ”...”

Where is she short? Although only sixteen, she was tall and well-proportioned, taller than many women. However, compared to men, she seemed a bit shorter and thinner.

She couldn’t help but chuckle; short is short, why should she care?

Huangfu Jingchen initially intended to visit the Zen room reportedly blessed by the Bodhisattva for praying sincerely for an offspring. However, for the entire Shian Temple, it should be considered a sacred place, not to mention that he didn’t know where the Zen room was, and the monks he inquired about either knew nothing at all or were evasive.

Fearing that deep inquiries might alert any lurking threats, he continued to wander idly, all the while contemplating if there were any insights to gain.

When he came to his senses, he realized that he was on a rather secluded path, wasn’t this the road to the back of the mountain?

According to the monks earlier, although Shian Temple had a robust pilgrimage, the Abbot had said before, monks should not forget their origin even in hard practice, so they planted vegetables and grains on the back of the mountain themselves. Even if it could not satisfy all the temple’s needs, it was at least self-sufficient to some extent.

Overseeing the entire back-mountain planting was the Supervisor, one of the eight Deacons in the temple, also a monk with the title ”Ming” in his Dharma name, Ming Fa. The monks who cultivated here were fixed. After all, it was like hard labor, and no one was willing to be here unless they were monks punished for breaking the precepts.

Since he was here, he might as well take a stroll.

What met his eyes was a big vegetable field, lush green. Within the field were three wells, mainly used for watering the fields. Not far away were monks’ huts.

There were thatched huts and also large wooden and stone-structured houses. It is said that monks working here, although residing long-term and rarely going out, still couldn’t miss the three sessions a day, morning, noon, and evening.

A few monks were watering the vegetables, mostly burly monks doing the heavy tasks who easily carried two buckets of water at once, watering at a swift pace.

When Huangfu Jingchen was walking past, a monk put down his bucket and asked, ”Benefactor, is there anything you need?”

Huangfu Jingchen said, ”No, just looking around impulsively!”

The monk then asked no further and continued fetching water but would occasionally glance at Huangfu Jingchen.

Huangfu Jingchen wasn’t bothered, walking around on his own. However, to go further would mean passing through the vegetable field, where the spots were muddy because of the watering.

Before his foot landed on the field, another monk said, ”Benefactor, it is better not to go forward, to avoid dirtying your shoes.”

Huangfu Jingchen looked at the field, then at his shoes, and nonchalantly said, ”I’m thirsty from walking. I’ll just ask for a cup of tea and walk where there’s no mud!”

The monk immediately said, ”No way!” He reached out an arm to block Huangfu Jingchen’s path, then turned and said, ”Jue Zheng, go get the benefactor a cup to drink.”

Immediately, a monk put down his bucket and headed into the monk’s hut to get some tea.

Before long, the monk returned, holding a large bowl filled with clear water. Huangfu Jingchen took it with a smile and said, ”Is this a spring water?”

The monk replied, ”In the mountain temples, we mostly drink spring water. There’s a spring at the back mountain.”

Huangfu Jingchen nodded, drank the water, handed the bowl back, expressed his thanks, and turned to leave, without any intention of staying longer.

Although he did not look back, he felt several gazes on his back until he walked far away, and those eyes were finally withdrawn.
