The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 117: Chapter 117: Comparing Me to a Woman?

He was already a grown man, eighteen years old, yet he couldn’t compare with someone a few years younger?

Huangfu Jingchen secretly decided that he must ensure she appreciated, admired, and looked up to him!

He snapped back to reality, his gaze collided with hers.

Her eyes were beautiful, like stars, like gemstones, sparkling brightly, radiantly dazzling.

Looking at her so close to him, her sparkling eyes, lightly parted lips, especially thinking about waking up earlier with her in his arms, an uneasy feeling arose, he suddenly felt he couldn’t look directly at her, his mouth seemed dry.

He spoke with a hint of panic even he didn’t notice: ”I-I’ll go wash up first!”

Xia Wenjin, unaware of the turmoil in his heart, said, ”Let’s go together!”

She still had some anticipation for this signing ceremony, curious about how Mo Qingfeng, that charlatan, would fake seriousness and deceive people.

However, thinking about his stargazing method and how his master might be Huangfu Yuxuan’s minion, she felt a bit uncomfortable, like something was bothering her.

On the way to the hall, people came and went. Last night, Xia Wenjin and others arrived late, and didn’t feel anything, but only now did they realize there were quite a number of incense guests living temporarily in the temple, especially at this moment when everyone was heading to the same place.

Outside the hall was a spacious square, already crowded with many people.

Mats were neatly placed on the ground for seating, and many were already seated. The men were in the east, the women in the west, clearly distinguished.

Halfway there, Huangfu Jingchen felt something was amiss.

He would occasionally look back at Xia Wenjin.

Xia Wenjin, puzzled by his gaze, asked, ”What’s wrong? Are you uncomfortable?”

Huangfu Jingchen shook his head, slightly furrowed his brows, and said, ”Haven’t you noticed a gaze watching both of us?”

Xia Wenjin paused for a moment, laughed, ”No! If there is, then it means that gaze is watching you.” She whispered, ”Northeast direction!”

Huangfu Jingchen suddenly turned his head to look northeast.

At the end of the path, under a tree, stood a woman in black, her figure slender and her face charming, with beautiful eyes, staring at Huangfu Jingchen. His sudden turn caught her gaze.

The woman didn’t shy away, instead her gaze became more intense as she looked at him.

Huangfu Jingchen subtly frowned; he didn’t know this woman.

Xia Wenjin laughed, ”Did you see her?”

Huangfu Jingchen had already looked away, his voice low, ”I did.”

Xia Wenjin chuckled, ”She’s quite a beautiful woman!”

Huangfu Jingchen said sullenly, ”Not as beautiful as you.”

Xia Wenjin’s eyes became slightly colder, her face darkened, ”Why make such a joke, Brother Huang? You’re comparing me to a woman?”

Huangfu Jingchen was taken aback, blurting it out without thinking earlier, now realizing it was inappropriate. Seeing Xia Wenjin’s changed expression, he panicked internally, awkwardly saying, ”I... I didn’t mean anything by it, it just came to mind suddenly, so I said it. Don’t be angry!”

Xia Wenjin, observing his somewhat flustered yet earnest explanation, suddenly smiled, her voice becoming a bit suggestive, ”Brother Zheng, do you really think I’m more attractive than a woman? Is that a compliment?” Saying that, she stepped closer.

Huangfu Jingchen was startled, quickly retreating two steps to maintain a distance, his mind even more confused and panicked, his mind went blank. Towards Xia Wenjin, his feelings were complex and conflicted. Knowing Xia Wenjin was a Long Yang, he deliberately kept a distance, but after these days of interaction, he found Xia Wenjin straightforward and carefree, free-spirited, with an enviable uninhibited ease, feeling a sense of closeness. So he was undecided whether to stay close or away from Xia Wenjin.

Therefore, when Xia Wenjin got close, he backed away, but when Xia Wenjin moved away, he wanted to get closer.

He couldn’t untangle the confusion in his heart.

Amidst his flustered emotion, he suddenly saw Xia Wenjin’s eyes.

Those eyes were clear and pure, untainted by any impurity, seemingly able to see through them at a glance. And in the depth of her eyes were playful mischief and cunning humor.

Such clean eyes, such mischievous appearance, he now understood, Xia Wenjin was teasing him.

Was she treating him like a child again?

It didn’t feel like it; Huangfu Jingchen didn’t see the kind of ’elder to younger’ gaze in her eyes, like a mischievous younger brother amusingly teasing his older brother.

His heart relaxed, yet somehow felt tense.

Unsure whether to feel happy or helpless.

He quietly said, ”Stop messing around!”

Xia Wenjin laughed, ”Brother Zheng, a pretty woman is interested in you. You can’t keep blushing like this, or that beautiful lady will think you’re childish!”

Huangfu Jingchen hadn’t realized he was blushing, but hearing this, subconsciously touched his face; it was indeed a bit hot. He stared at her, ”Stop talking nonsense!”

Xia Wenjin pursed her lips in a smile, seeing his ears also turning red. She stopped joking around.

After this playful exchange, Huangfu Jingchen forgot about the black-clad woman’s gaze, and the two entered the square.

The black-clad woman’s eyes followed them, until they went east and found a place to sit on a mat, then she came out from under the tree and sat in a corner on the west side.

After Huangfu Jingchen sat down, Xia Wenjin winked at him and laughed, ”That black-clad lady is still watching you!”

Huangfu Jingchen glared at her, feeling that gaze occasionally upon him. His Jianghu experience may not match Xia Wenjin’s, but being a martial artist, he naturally sensed someone watching him. However, these words from Xia Wenjin, with her apparent delight, were somewhat annoying to him. He preferred she was teasing or joking with him.

However, those clear, pure eyes clearly held no such emotion.

He even bitterly thought, wasn’t Xia Wenjin a Long Yang? Doesn’t she like men? Wasn’t he handsome enough?

...

Xia Wenjin had been watching Huangfu Jingchen with amusement, suddenly noticing his complexion turning pale, a hint of fear appeared, as if thinking of something unbelievable and terrifying. She couldn’t help but be intrigued, asking, ”Hey, what’s with the face change?”

Huangfu Jingchen’s expression grew more panicked.

Just now, he had the thought hoping Xia Wenjin would...

Huangfu Jingchen thought he must be crazy.

He suddenly held his head in his hands, trying to calm himself down.
