The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 128: Chapter 128: We’re All Men Here

Huangfu Jingchen was just pressed against the wall, his whole body stiff, now his spine relaxed, but his mood was very complicated. He didn’t know whether to breathe a sigh of relief or sigh.

Thinking back to just now, his heart was really about to jump out of his throat.

He was somewhat confused.

The words that slipped out of his mouth now made his face heat up when he recalled them. How could he say such a thing? If it had been someone else, even if it was a woman, would he have said that?

Huangfu Jingchen confirmed this internally over and over, finally reaching the conclusion: no! 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

Never mind his upbringing and self-restraint, never mind his pride and dignity, just by the environment he grew up in, he felt that the most sacred and inviolable thing in this world was the affection between men and women.

Like his father’s love for his mother, once in love, it was for a lifetime, unwavering and unwavering, sharing weal and woe, not resenting poverty nor desiring arrogance due to wealth, not changing intentions due to status, and not fading worries over time.

His father and mother were each other’s first loves and lifelong beloveds.

He yearned for and anticipated such love.

Therefore, he would not casually get close to a woman, because he knew, as a man, he should have responsibility, and if she’s not someone he intends to love and protect for a lifetime, he should not casually provoke her.

At nearly eighteen, many sons of wealthy families already had multiple wives and concubines and were surrounded by maids, but as Prince Cheng’s Heir in the fief of Prince Cheng, his status was esteemed, yet he had not even touched a woman’s hand.

Yet, when irritated by Sang Xuewei’s pestering, he actually kissed someone.

He was not an impulsive person, but he did an impulsive thing at that time.

Because the person was Xia Wenjin!

If it had been someone else, even if Huangfu Jingchen couldn’t handle it, he wouldn’t have taken such drastic action, nor would he have felt this panicked and restless, nor would he have blurted out such words.

So, was it just because of Xia Wenjin?

He didn’t know how much time passed, but the emotional turmoil made his steps unsteady as he returned to the Zen room, only to find that Xia Wenjin was no longer there either.

This actually made him breathe a sigh of relief. He sat on the cushion, frowning and pondering.

Actually, he was eighteen years old, even if he truly had a moment of impulse and a slight sentiment toward someone causing him to do something uncontrollable, it was very normal. What was abnormal was that Xia Wenjin is a man!

His mind was a chaotic mess, the more he thought about it, the more confused he became, and the more confused he became, the less he could sort it out.

Time passed quietly, but his mind became even more chaotic.

The door creaked open, Xia Wenjin walked in slowly.

Huangfu Jingchen looked at her, his emotions complicated and tumultuous, not knowing how to speak.

Xia Wenjin, however, looked indifferent, glanced at him, and said, ”Aren’t you going to eat?”

Huangfu Jingchen shook his head silently.

At this moment, how could he be in the mood to eat?

Xia Wenjin seemed to anticipate his reaction and took out from behind her back, ”Here, I brought this for you.” It was two buns wrapped in paper.

Huangfu Jingchen said hesitantly, ”You... aren’t angry anymore?”

Xia Wenjin glanced at him, thought for a moment, then said, ”At first, I was quite angry, but after thinking about it, I’m not a woman, why should I be so delicate?” As she spoke, she even patted Huangfu Jingchen’s shoulder heartily, ”We’re all men, just consider it as helping a brother out, nothing to make a fuss about!”

She wasn’t angry, Huangfu Jingchen should feel relieved and happy, but her completely nonchalant attitude made him somewhat disappointed.

On his lips, there seemed to be her remaining warmth, that soft touch was infinitely magnified.

Yet, before him was a hearty and carefree little brother!

Was his heart too dirty?

Xia Wenjin saw him in a daze, stuffed the bun into Huangfu Jingchen’s hands, sat on the Zen bed, picked up a book, and started flipping through it, leisurely swaying her feet.

Huangfu Jingchen looked over, Xia Wenjin was engrossed, not noticing there was someone else in the room.

Did she really not care about what happened before?

Looking at the relaxed expression of the young man in front of him, Huangfu Jingchen was bewildered.

Did he hope she cared, or did he hope she didn’t?

He found he had no answer.

Actually, Xia Wenjin wasn’t as carefree as she appeared on the surface.

One way or another, in her previous life, after falling off a horse and waking up, she got married, having even gone through the wedding ceremony. In this life, she had decided to live freely and never get caught up in the entanglement of emotions again, yet suddenly being forcibly kissed, no matter the reason, it was still a fact! There was indeed a bit of unease in her heart.

However, she was well aware that if she cared, then the two of them wouldn’t truly be untangled.

Since it wasn’t an intimate act born from feelings, it was just a misunderstanding. She had lived through two lifetimes, seeing the vicissitudes of life, such a small matter, since it wasn’t born out of uncontrollable passion or taking advantage, it truly was not important!

But seeing Huangfu Jingchen’s uneasy appearance, Xia Wenjin was also helpless, she didn’t want to remember, she hoped Huangfu Jingchen wouldn’t remember either. Only by acting uninterested would this matter quickly pass.

Once she got the Jade Pendant, she and Huangfu Jingchen would naturally go their separate ways, and the matter of kissing a ”man,” presumably Huangfu Jingchen himself would not keep it in mind.

Huangfu Jingchen bit into the bun with a complicated mood.

Suddenly, Xia Wenjin slammed her book onto the Zen bed, stood up abruptly, and shouted, ”Damn bald donkey, almost got fooled!”

Huangfu Jingchen was startled, ”What happened?”

Xia Wenjin dashed out like the wind, her voice coming from outside the door, ”Hurry!”

A bewildered Huangfu Jingchen hurriedly stuffed the remaining bun into his mouth in two bites and ran after Xia Wenjin.

Xia Wenjin headed directly towards Kong Chan’s Zen temple, but didn’t take the main entrance, as it was closed. She reached the side of the courtyard wall, tapped her foot, climbed up, and swiftly got into the courtyard using both hands and feet.

Huangfu Jingchen, not knowing it was Kong Chan’s Zen temple, imitated her and followed suit, but seeing her reckless manner, he hurriedly kept close, worried she was going to find trouble with someone, he had to stay by her side lest she suffered a loss.

Xia Wenjin strode into Kong Chan’s Zen room, arriving so suddenly that Kong Chan was busy hiding something behind him, his face already putting on an expression of solemn dignity.

When he looked up and saw it was Xia Wenjin, his face relaxed, just about to speak, and then seeing Huangfu Jingchen step in, he hurriedly put on a solemn face again.

Xia Wenjin: ”...”

This face-changing technique was truly remarkable!

She circled behind him, grabbed his wrist, raised it to take a look, and it was clearly a greasy chicken leg, fragrant to the nose.

She laughed, ”Bald donkey, I smelled the aroma as soon as I entered, is there really a need to hide it?”

Forced to be exposed, Kong Chan didn’t pretend to be solemn any longer, shook off her hand, rolled his eyes, and said, ”You’re the bald donkey, your whole family are bald donkeys! What’s wrong with me eating chicken? Every day on this mountain eating grass and then more grass, my mouth is almost tasteless! I’m not a rabbit!”
