Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 2990: Chapter 2999: Her Face Is About to Be Slapped Swollen

The dinner was filled with joy and laughter.

There was laughter in Birch Garden, but the atmosphere was quite different at the City W police station.

The wealthy lady’s face flushed red as she slammed the table, shouting furiously at the police officer opposite her, ”What right do you have to bring us here? Where’s the evidence? I want evidence! Otherwise, I’ll get a lawyer to sue you for illegal detention!”

The female police officer, who was being questioned, sat in the swivel chair with an expressionless face. She drew a folder from a stack on the table, ignored the woman’s questioning, and looked at Renee Anderson, who was as pale as a sheet, and asked, ”Name.”

The wealthy woman was shaking with rage at being ignored and pulled out her phone, ”Can’t you hear me? Bring your leader here, or I’ll have to call my lawyer!”

The policewoman finally couldn’t bear it any longer, raised her head, glanced at her, and retorted, ”Mrs. Anderson, please don’t shout and disrupt my duty at the police station. Otherwise, I’ll have to arrest you for obstructing justice!”

”You—”

Renee Anderson grabbed her mother’s arm, whose face had turned purple with anger. She frowned and said, ”Mom, let it go. Don’t be anxious. We have nothing to fear. Let’s see what they want. Take your phone out and film this. If the police think they can distort the truth with their authority, they’re wrong! There’s a thing called the Internet in this world!”

The policewoman gave her a sarcastic look, ”It seems Miss Anderson knows well how to control public opinion. Go ahead, film it. I’m following normal procedures, and I’m not afraid of Miss Anderson filming. But I’m just wondering if Miss Anderson has the courage to post it online afterward.”

Renee’s originally pale face suddenly changed, and she clutched her hospital gown tightly, questioning her, ”What do you mean?”

Isn’t Adam Sinclair accusing her of defamation and intentional injury?

She’s not afraid of these two charges.

There were no surveillance cameras at the staircase then. While she has no evidence, the police can’t obtain any either. Neither side has evidence, so even if Adam Sinclair brought her to the police station, it’s just going through the motions. After the statement, she could leave.

The policewoman opened the document and didn’t answer her, continuing with the previous question, ”Name.”

Renee felt as if a nameless fire was burning inside her chest. She was fuming but could only suppress it, motioned for her mom to film with the phone, and replied without expression, ”Renee Anderson.”

”Age.”

”29.”

”Place of origin.”

Renee felt as if a stone was pressing on her chest, making her feel suffocated. She exhaled heavily and continued with restraint, ”Country W. Didn’t the police know even this when they brought me here?”

”Miss Anderson, I’m just following normal procedures, not deliberately making things difficult for you. Please cooperate with our work!” The policewoman gave her no leeway and retorted bluntly.

Renee felt slapped in the face, left speechless, and pressed her lips tightly.

The policewoman, displeased with her, naturally didn’t treat her well either and continued, ”We’ve received a report accusing Miss Anderson of fraud. These are the transfer records. Please take a look, Miss Anderson.”

She pushed a sheet of A4 paper towards Renee.

Renee took it, glanced at it, and her face turned grim, ”This money was given to me by him; how is this fraud?”

The bank transfer record was of the 750 thousand Adam Sinclair had given her at the apartment hotel.

She had thought Adam Sinclair was going to accuse her of defamation, but it wasn’t; it turned out to be fraud!

Renee’s breathing grew rapid, and her pale face turned flushed with shock and panic, looking nothing like someone who had just undergone uterine curettage surgery.
