Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 2975: Chapter 2984: She Still Won’t Give Up

Benjamin Sinclair furrowed his brows. Seeing her on the verge of collapse, he couldn’t be too harsh with her. He took a deep breath, suppressing the rage bubbling in his chest, and responded coldly, ”Renee, you’re out?”

”Yes. I heard what you and Uncle just said. I’d like to explain this matter. Uncle, could you give me a chance to speak?”

Her voice was weak and tender, gradually extinguishing part of Benjamin’s anger, although his expression remained grim. ”Go ahead,” he said.

Renee glanced at Adam Sinclair before looking back, biting her lips and saying, ”Today, I received a call from a friend—the person you heard on the recording, Uncle. You know him too, he’s Young Master Harper, Austin Harper. After returning to the country, I met Adam again. Remembering the past, I confessed my feelings to Adam but was rejected. I was heartbroken, and then Austin appeared, comforting me all along. At that time, I thought Adam already had a girlfriend, and he rejected me; there was no possibility between us. So I slowly accepted his confession, and we’ve been together in what could be considered a sort of relationship. Unexpectedly, something happened with the Harper Family, and he couldn’t find anyone to help. I thought of Adam and wanted to ask him for help.”

Renee took a breath. Having just had surgery, speaking even a sentence pulled painfully on her abdomen, but she had no choice. She had to stand up and provide a satisfactory explanation, or Benjamin wouldn’t believe her. ”Austin was too embarrassed to ask Adam directly, so I said I would. Then what happened is what you know, Uncle. Because Adam and I drank, we ended up sleeping together. After that, I found out I was pregnant. Whenever I was with Austin, we took precautions; the only time we didn’t was during that unexpected encounter with Adam. I knew who the child’s father was; I felt both joyful and miserable inside. Then I sought out President Lawrence, thinking at least the child’s father should know about it. However, Adam misunderstood me and insisted that I have surgery to remove the child.”

”I didn’t agree because I hadn’t sorted out my thoughts yet. I wanted to keep this child, even if I had to raise it myself. Later, you came, Uncle, and I temporarily stayed at Crystal Cove Bay. You also know what happened next, Uncle. Harrington Group was suddenly acquired and our family went bankrupt. My dad was admitted to the hospital... today, this recording is real. But it’s not as you might think, Uncle. I don’t know what Austin heard, but he suddenly called and rushed to Crystal Cove Bay to find me, asking in an emotional outburst who the father of the child was. I saw his emotional state and, fearing he might harm the child, I countered by telling him the child was mine. Who would have thought Adam managed to get that private recording where I argued with Austin?”

Her explanation was comprehensive, reasonable, and left no gaps.

”Uncle, if I’d known this child would cause so much trouble, I should’ve listened to Adam from the start and not kept the child. If I hadn’t held onto this child, which he originally didn’t want to acknowledge, none of this would have happened. I’m sorry. I just carried a small hope, wishing my child could be born into this world, take a look at it...” Her eyes turned red as burning tears suddenly rolled down, making her appear like a pitiful woman mourning the loss of her child.
