Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 1607: Chapter 1607: Second Time Slapping Skye Lawrence’s Face

Despite Skye Lawrence’s dark and unclear expression, she still maintained the pride and nobility that the First Young Lady of the Lawrence Family should have.

Even though her heart was in turmoil at the moment, she still managed to remain calm and collected on the surface.

The Public Relations Director was not as composed as her. With a large, fat belly, his face pale, he walked over without even considering whether there were still any shareholders around, and anxiously approached Skye Lawrence. “Vice President, what is going on? Why is it different from what was agreed upon?”

He was the one who had stuck his neck out at this shareholders’ meeting. It was obvious that in the meeting five minutes later, Lord Lawrence would certainly deal with him.

Remembering Baron Lawrence’s iron-fisted ways in the past, his head pounded with anxiety, and he waved his hands frantically. “Didn’t you say that we would definitely win at this shareholders’ meeting? Didn’t you say you had convinced more than half of the shareholders? Why is the result completely different from what you said?”

Skye Lawrence also wanted to know why. She was already very vexed, and now, someone tactless had come to bother her. Her heroic eyebrows furrowed. She glanced at the frantic Public Relations Director, and said calmly, “I didn’t anticipate this result either.”

Her authority as Vice President was still there. Although the Public Relations Director had many questions, he could only suppress them when faced with her sharp eyes. His face turned red as he stammered out, “President Lawrence is about to start the meeting. What should I do now?”

What to do? Take it easy!

But the Public Relations Director was her man. Although Skye Lawrence thought he was an impatient fool, she couldn’t just ignore him.

She frowned slightly in thought and was about to speak when the conference room door was suddenly pushed open.

Several people in uniform, holding photos, walked in under the guidance of an assistant and headed straight towards them.

Skye Lawrence’s heart skipped a beat, and it felt like her heart was being squeezed by an invisible hand.

Indeed, those people in uniform, while looking at the photos, walked directly towards her. Skye Lawrence’s heartbeat quickened, even though she thought it was impossible.

The few people stopped right in front of her.

One of the women put on a professional smile and said to her, “Sorry to disturb you. We are from the Special Commissioner’s Office for Economic Crimes.”

Skye Lawrence calmly extended her hand, “Hello.”

The woman also extended her hand and shook hers briefly.

Just when Skye Lawrence was almost certain that they were here for her, the woman turned her head and said to the Public Relations Director beside her, “Kevin, right? Hello, we have evidence that you are involved in an occupational crime. Please come with us.”

Skye Lawrence felt as if she had been publicly slapped. Her calm face instantly turned ugly.

She knew who these people were.

She originally thought that Baron Lawrence had sent these people to investigate her. She never expected that they were here to investigate… the Public Relations Director!

Everyone knew that the Public Relations Director was her man. For him to be taken away and investigated for economic crimes in front of the shareholders, what was that if not a public humiliation for her?

Skye Lawrence had never encountered such an embarrassing situation. Her expression changed drastically, and she clenched her hands tightly to keep from losing her composure.

But while she remained composed, the Public Relations Director was terrified. His legs went weak on the spot, and the fat on his cheeks started to tremble.
