Madam Li's Identity Is Exposed Again!

Chapter 604: Chapter 604: Si Chen’s Phone

Chi Enen felt all night as if she was engulfed in a bear hug, so hot that she hadn’t slept a wink until past six in the morning when the oppressive feeling finally left her. Overcome with drowsiness, she blurred into slumber.

She didn’t see that the man getting up didn’t head straight to the bathroom to bathe, as usual. Instead, he stood quietly beside the bed, gazing at her for a long time before his thin lips tightened, and he went into the bathroom.

“Whoosh.”

Half an hour later, the bathroom door opened.

Li Beijue picked out a white shirt from the wardrobe somewhat carelessly, chose a wristwatch, changed, and left the bedroom, pulling the bedroom door behind him.

The moment he stepped out of the bedroom, his expression had cooled. He picked up the new mobile phone delivered last night from the table and turned it on.

...

There were dozens of missed calls; apart from work-related ones, all were from the same number.

He walked to the floor-to-ceiling glass window, drew the curtains aside, and looked down at the early morning cityscape, before responding.

The call was answered almost instantly.

“Hello, Beijue, you finally returned my call! Do you know if you didn’t call me back, I was about to head to Country Y to find you! That woman, Lin Anxin, she’s pregnant. Did you know? She’s pregnant! She kept it from me this whole time, if it weren’t for her disappearance this time, I’d still be in the dark.”

That woman’s secrecy had been too thorough, so much so that he had been oblivious all along. If not for this accident, he would still be unaware…

He had taken precautions with every woman, he had no idea how Lin Anxin had gotten pregnant, but one thing he was 100% sure of—if that woman was pregnant, the child would definitely be his flesh and blood!

“Beijue, what on earth happened? Why would your family kidnap Lin Anxin? Also, I called Huo Yi, but why isn’t Huo Yi saying anything, keeping his lips sealed? What’s going on!”

Li Beijue hadn’t said a word from the very beginning, waiting for him to finish his anxious tirade like a barrage of shots, only then did he lower his eyes, glancing over the wound on his left hand that had been dressed. Suddenly a wave of indescribable pressure surged in his heart. He quickly shifted his gaze away, landing on the bottle of red wine placed in the cabinet and walked over with long strides, opened a bottle, and poured himself a glass.

“Beijue, are you listening to me? I don’t know what happened, but Lin Anxin is pregnant, and I’m worried about her. Do you understand what I mean? I just want to know what’s going on?”

Li Beijue tilted his head back, the red wine in his hand now half-gone. The harsh liquor early in the morning, like fire down the throat, the spicy grape flavor slid down his throat, igniting his stomach.

His stomach was already weak, unable to withstand such torment. Indeed, not long after the drink went down, his stomach began to protest with faint pains.

“Beijue?!”

Si Chen was really getting a bit angry!

Ever since Lin Anxin was taken away yesterday morning, he hadn’t rested for a second. Li Beijue’s mobile phone was switched off, Huo Yi was reachable but refused to say anything. Now he was certain only of the fact that it was the Li family’s influence that had taken Lin Anxin away. And suddenly knowing Lin Anxin was pregnant, he barely got Li Beijue to respond to him, only for him to not utter a single word. Even the best of friends would become anxious and agitated!

“What exactly do you mean? I’m talking to you! Are we still friends or not?! Right now, I want to know Lin Anxin’s whereabouts! Do you know anything or not, give me a clear answer! If not, I’ll think of another way!”
