My Martial Arts Level Never Drops

Chapter 404: Chapter 191: Treasure Plant

Qin Fang, however, was soaking wet.

But with a slight pulse of his True Essence, he shook the water from his hair.

While not completely dry, it was close enough.

His underclothes were still wet, though...

’Too bad my True Essence Nature is Profound Water. If it were Li Fire, I could probably just circulate my True Essence and all this moisture would evaporate. Profound Water can’t do that, though...’

He shook his head and decided to deal with it later. He wasn’t cold, anyway.

He looked down at the tangled mass of lotus roots in his hands, his brow furrowing.

Although he had pulled out a huge mass, the amount of golden lotus root was actually quite limited. Most of it just looked like ordinary lotus root.

’I’ll sort through this first and see how much of the golden part there is...’

With that thought, Qin Fang flew directly to the cliff ledge.

The spot was covered in straw. Xile had probably been living here for the past year...

’Clever dog, knowing to make a nest for himself.’

Xile scampered up happily. The cliff ledge was quite large, and the dog circled behind Qin Fang, panting happily without a stop.

Qin Fang smiled and patted its head, then began to work on the lotus roots.

First, he broke off the numerous lotus stems. After confirming they weren’t golden, he tossed them aside.

Next, he removed the Golden Lotus Seedpod—which was almost as large as a lotus leaf—and set it aside.

Then he started on the lotus roots.

He kept the golden lotus roots, breaking off the other-colored sections and temporarily setting them aside.

It was a rather tedious job, but Qin Fang didn’t feel tired at all, proceeding in a methodical and orderly manner.

After circling for a good while, Xile quieted down, curled up in its nest, and occasionally lifted its head to watch Qin Fang’s busy back.

Seeing that Qin Fang was still there, it relaxed and lay its head back down.

Sorting through the lotus roots was quite a hassle.

It took nearly an hour before he was finally finished.

Qin Fang let out a breath and looked at the pile of golden lotus root... There was probably over a hundred pounds of it!

There was even more of the normal-looking root—a full three to four hundred pounds, at least.

’...This was all from a single lotus plant?’

’What is this lotus called?’

’Is this really what caused Xile’s astonishing transformation?’

Qin Fang was extremely curious.

Then he glanced at the lotus stems...

’Among all these stems, only one was a brilliant gold. It looked extraordinary.’

’I’ll keep it for now and take it back to the Sect to study later.’

Qin Fang thought to himself.

’After all, he was a True Inheritance disciple of the Guiyuan Lineage. His status in the Sect was anything but ordinary. While this thing looked impressive, the most valuable part—the lotus seeds—had likely been eaten by Xile. The remaining portions weren’t amazing enough to cause a huge stir.’

’If he took it back openly, no one would dare try to steal it from him.’

’Both were Treasure Plants, but the one inside Old Ox Back was clearly far more astonishing.’

’That was what truly needed to be kept secret.’

Having finished sorting everything, Qin Fang let out a breath. He looked around and asked Xile, ”Do you usually live here?”

Xile, who had been lying in its nest, immediately bounded over and started panting happily right behind Qin Fang.

Feeling the hot breath by his ear, Qin Fang couldn’t help but smile. He reached out a hand, and Xile immediately pressed its enormous head forward to meet it.

Qin Fang enjoyed petting the dog for a while before getting to his feet.

”Let’s go. Back to Old Ox Back.”

It shouldn’t be a problem to leave these things here. The area was deserted, and there didn’t seem to be any Exotic Species, Demons, or the like.

’The fish in this pool probably aren’t ordinary... A lot of them were just stunned earlier, so there’s no rush... I’ll go check on Old Ox Back first. Later, I’ll see if these fish are edible... and if they have effects similar to Giant Bee Meat.’

A glint flashed in Qin Fang’s eyes.

Thinking of the Giant Bee...

’Those fish couldn’t do a thing to me. They didn’t even touch the first layer of my Nine-Layered Abyss Water Armor. With my defense as it is now... the Giant Bee probably can’t hurt me either, right?’

’If that’s the case...’

His eyes glinted. He pushed the thought aside and vaulted onto the dog’s back.

”Let’s go, Xile. Home,” he called out.

Xile immediately took off, running with glee.

The cliff was no obstacle for Xile. The power within its body circulated naturally, making it as light as a feather. In the blink of an eye, they had already left the primeval forest.

Sitting on Xile’s back, Qin Fang was thoroughly enjoying himself...

’I thought that once I could fly, Xile’s usefulness as a mount would diminish.’

’But now it seems riding Xile is far more comfortable than flying on my own.’

’It’s effortless, and even faster...’

About fifteen minutes later, he arrived back at the bamboo forest below Old Ox Back.

Seeing the shelter, Qin Fang felt a pang in his heart. He remained silent for a long moment before letting out a soft sigh, dismounting the dog, and starting to clean the place up.

’He was going to enter seclusion here, and he had no idea for how long. He had to tidy the place up a bit.’

He took down the moldy, stiff door curtain and soaked it under the waterfall. He then rummaged through the house and found some clothes and bedding that were also moldy and damp.

The sight of these things made Qin Fang think of his master and the others. His eyes fell, and in the end, all he could do was sigh softly.

After doing some minor repairs on the more dilapidated rooms, Qin Fang stopped.

’I’ll come back and finish this later. First, I need to check on Old Ox Back.’

Qin Fang took one last look, then shot through the air, heading straight for Old Ox Back.

’Now that I can fly, getting up Old Ox Back is so much easier.’

Xile was too big, so Qin Fang told it to stay below and guard the house. Xile panted happily at the door, but was ultimately obedient and didn’t follow.
