Chapter 438: Chapter 438: Annihilation

”What?” Rod showed a stunned expression, his face full of astonishment as he stared at the shield before him.

”To think... it blocked the dragon’s breath?” Claire’s eyes were also filled with shock, her heart profoundly shaken.

In their Edwin Continent, dragon’s breath was not classified as part of the magic system. But almost every professional knew very well that the power of a dragon’s breath was no less than a ninth-tier spell.

To defend against a ninth-tier spell required protective measures of equal or even higher level.

But how could there be ninth-tier protection in this world, which according to intelligence was still in the stage of magical energy convergence? Could it be that the predictions of the sages in the Great Library had deviated?

*Crack.*

Just as she was pondering this, the shield in front of her began to crack with lines, shattering like broken glass. Behind the shield, the thin figure shrouded in a cloak came into view for everyone.

”That... that is...”

”It’s Lord Death!”

”Oh my god, it’s actually Lord Death! Lord Death saved us!”

The citizens cheered loudly, their eyes filled with adoration for a certain Lord Death. Of course, among them were also some clueless citizens who were completely in the dark, eagerly inquiring about who this Lord Death was.

”He’s the leader of the Strange Squad! You can see them every time there’s a major mutated disaster!”

”Right, the White Mountain Village incident two months ago was resolved by them!”

”The White Mountain Village incident? Wasn’t that the Self-Defense Force...”

”I was on the scene, it actually had nothing to do with the Self-Defense Force at all! The Self-Defense Force arrived two hours later, by then the Magic Snow Bear had already been dealt with!”

”We’ve been deceived, completely deceived by the government! How many more truths are being concealed, how many more dirty secrets of the government haven’t been exposed yet?”

As they spoke, the citizens’ emotions were roused once again. With lie after lie being exposed, the credibility of the island nation’s government began to plummet to unprecedented lows.

Of course.

Right now, Eri was not paying any attention to this. Her gaze was fixed tightly on the two Dragon Knights in the sky, her long sword gripped firmly in hand.

*Swish.*

As if teleporting, her figure vanished from everyone’s sight.

Huh?

Rod was taken aback, already sensing something was wrong. He pulled the reins connected to the dragon’s head upward, and the red dragon flapped its wings, its body instantly gaining altitude.

*Thud.*

A gash extended from the red dragon’s belly, bright red blood spraying out.

”Managed to dodge it, huh?” Eri muttered, standing in mid-air as if treading on air. She had originally intended to behead the red dragon directly, but she didn’t expect this Dragon Knight’s reactions to be quite sharp.

”Damn it!” Seeing his companion injured, Rod suddenly flew into a rage. ”You damn native, looking for death! Tear him apart!”

Even without Rod’s command, the entire body of the red dragon was already hurtling towards Eri at high speed.

The dragons of the Edwin Continent possessed extraordinary intelligence; they too had emotions like joy and anger. Although due to the contract they would obey the commands of their Dragon Knights while they lived, this didn’t mean they lacked their own thoughts.

Injured by an ant-like insect, this proud young red dragon clearly couldn’t tolerate it. Its sharp claws, like razors, tore towards Eri.

*Clink.*

A crisp sound rang out as the dragon claw was easily parried by the long sword.

”I see, so this is the power of a dragon?” From beneath the cloak, Eri’s tone was indifferent. ”Not all that impressive.”

She genuinely meant this.

By making this tentative block, she wanted to assess the true strength of the giant dragon. At this moment, she had even prepared herself for the possibility of being torn in half.

After all, she had bought X-factor, so she wasn’t afraid of dying. But she never expected that this dragon couldn’t even tear her in half, let alone knock her flying.

”You... you...” Rod began to panic. He hadn’t anticipated that in this backward world, there could be a human who could physically withstand a dragon?

Although his partner was only a young dragon, its strength was far inferior to that of an adult or prime dragon, but it was still a dragon. Being able to resist a dragon’s power with one’s body was something usually only a warrior at the Saint-level could do!

Could this native before him be a Saint? No, impossible! How could a Saint exist in such a backward world!

Just as he was reeling internally, the native before him abruptly disappeared again.

*Schluck.*

The muffled sound of a blade cutting into flesh.

The dragon’s left wing was severed cleanly at the root, bright red dragon blood spraying out like a fountain.

*ROAR!*

The red dragon let out a shrill, agonized roar, its body losing balance and plummeting towards the ground.

”The defense isn’t much either, roughly equivalent to the level of an armored vehicle,” Eri said coolly, flicking the blood off her blade. ”It seems my earlier estimate was wrong. Dragons of this level, even a thousand of them, wouldn’t pose a threat to this world.”

With defense only at the level of an armored vehicle, it certainly couldn’t withstand the power of guided missiles. This dragon had only managed to wipe out the Northern Fleet so easily earlier because it struck first.

If the Northern Fleet had launched an aggressive defense at that time, using missiles from the cruisers for a preemptive strike, this dragon would already be dead.

*Whoosh.*

Just as Eri prepared to launch the final attack on the red dragon, a jet-black green ray suddenly shot towards her.

Eri sidestepped to avoid the attack, her gaze turning to the source of the ray. Clearly, this was an attack launched by the green dragon. ”You’re going to stop me?”

”I... cannot... let you kill him!” she spoke in broken Japanese.

The ability to communicate in Japanese came from her elven race’s unique talent for language comprehension. She could grasp any human language in a short time.

”You can speak Japanese, that’s really amazing,” Eri clicked her tongue. ”Is this the magical power of another world? I’m becoming more and more fond of you.”

”Fond?” Claire clearly didn’t quite understand the exact meaning of these specific words.

”But right now, I can’t let you disturb me.” Eri had no intention of explaining to her, slowly raising her right hand. ”Bakudo Number Sixty-One, Rikujokoro!”

*Bang. Bang. Bang.*

Several light panels abruptly formed, firmly binding Claire and the green dragon she rode.

”Damn you, I will definitely kill you!” The Dragon Knight who had been knocked to the ground let out a heaven-shaking roar, a powerful aura rising from within him.

Yet, in an instant, this aura that hadn’t fully coalesced dissipated like smoke.

Eri’s figure appeared behind him, the blade in her hand slowly sliding back into its sheath. ”A pity, you’ve run out of chances.”

As she finished speaking, Rod’s entire body was diagonally cleaved apart like a block of tofu. Bright red blood stained the sky.
